Taken from 'Varium' Giude page:

Varium is a unique element with the properties of a metal and the qualities of a living organism. Unlike the metals found on the periodic table, Varium “grows” in a fashion similar to plants, it’s molecular structure going through a bizarre synthesis to replicate and increase in size and volume. It would appear that heat is the catalyst for growth, but Varium’s mysteries are far from being entirely unraveled. The most that can be said for this strange and desirable metal is that it is extraordinarily versatile and thusly yields value with no foreseeable ceiling.

If we have this Varium just lying around forever it doesn't grow, because of logic we know that we wouldnt have extra Varium just by waiting. But think how cool would be if we got a little varium added to existing Varium every once a while. Support or no?

Although it does sound quite tempting, granted by now I would have a nice little stockpile of varium, granted I am really reluctant to spend it, knowing that a bigger fish will be in the market tomorrow so to speak.
The issue is, though, would it really be fair? If that was the case, and you're a penny pincher like me, you could have a virtually inexhaustible supply of varium.

No support. Devs would lose money.

Although it makes sense, lots of things in ED don't make sense.

For instances, if I'm in Minetower and I click 1v1, how do I have a Fortune City background?
When I beat someone, where do the credits come from? When I lose, how do I still get credits?
etc...

Im not saying that it would be a Giant boost maybe like 20 varium every month or so (because we dont know how fast it grows), not enough to make a difference, but the idea of what they stated would make sense. Its a silly idea that this would be implemented but it makes sense if it did

I support this because ED is very expensive. I say at least a 10% increase of the amount varium you have at the time every month would be good.

It makes perfect sense, but it would backfire at the devs.

Very interesting idea.

I had posted this idea in a variant form here.

It will back-fire. Lesson learned from AQ. They make Token can be earned in game (although very small) and Token investment from House selling. And guess what? The Token price went stupidly high. It's not because the staff become more greedy but the price is shifted and naturally it would be increase

According to bigtuna, once varium has been harvested, it cannot be planted again.

Ah so that is why mine has still not grown. I planted it ages ago. Thought I had been using the wrong type of water. Oh well, I will have to dig it up. ;)

Firstly, this is a suggestion really, and for that reason I'm going to have to lock this up, and advice you to post these things in the suggestions section in future.

Before I do that though, let me explain my views. Technically it does make sense, because Varium only grows 'like a plant' while it is growing naturally in it's place of origin. As Xendran said, when BigTuna wrote everything up about Varium, it was said that harvested Varium cannot be planted, and nor can it be grown. Which is why when you have harvested Varium sat around, you don't plant it, nor does it expand/grow for you to have more over periods of time.
The idea that was suggested by Jzaanu is an interesting one, but with the way some of the community acts, I can see it purely leading to angry people annoyed and flaming that they missed one day. Especially since during the holiday seasons when seasonal missions/rares etc. are around, many people go on holiday and may miss out or may have to miss a day etc. - Though it is an interesting suggestion, and will be thought about.
The other variant idea that has been thought of is a bank that you can put credits and possibly Varium in to accumulate a set amount of interest over a period of time, again, that's something to be discussed.
We also have the popular request of Ballyhoo appearing in EpicDuel, which is also being discussed.

On this subject, there are a lot of great ideas that are up for consideration. Right now, we can't guarantee anything, nor can we give a time period. I can assure you though that most/all ideas suggested along these lines have been noted and shall be discussed!
