First off, I would like to say that I am a founder, and have bought almost every rare in the game at some point except for certain promotionals. I have also sold almost every rare in the game.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not about to start ranting about how since I'm a founder that I deserve free varium and/or weapons. Founder armor was fun while it lasted, and we also got an achievement/bike. These things simply don't matter though. about 95% of the time, no one will notice what bike i'm riding or what achievements I have.

I would like to suggest that the older a weapon is, the more enchantment slots it has. Enough to bring it up to par with current weapons of the same weapon class.

Ex : Soul ripper has 26 base stats, +8 enchantment slots.
It would be brought up to 26 base stats + 14 enchantment slots. (Dragon buster/Infernal Slayer since it is a sword)

Possibly another feature would be to pay varium/credits to increase the base damage of an old weapon. (bringing it up to 35/36 damage)

I personally feel that the latest weapon designs are just... Lacking. Old weapons looked great for the most part. This would allow people to use them again.
Basically what this idea would do is : Reintroduce a ton of old artwork (which would now be new to most of our players by the way)
Give status to more experienced players
Not in any way disrupt balance?

I would also like to add that the total varium/credit cost to buff an old weapon up to par would be the same cost as to buy and enhance a new weapon, meaning ED would not lose any money, and the newer generation of players would not be angry.

Way to increase base damage seems interesting feature at a significant Varium fee (or a limit) so I wouldn't mind. But it'd be good if it applied to all weapons, perhaps price being lower as weapon's level goes down (so it scales).

About your slots for older/rare weapons. Remember when Rabble dealt with weapon's stats and damage? He didn't take care of slots because he didn't know how he'll deal with 'em just yet. But also remember maximum amount of slots is 10, so 14 wouldn't be possible unless it'd mean greater imbalance. My point is, rare weapons do get bonus +1 slot over normal weapons (Rare, Seasonal and Limited) but very old rares such as Beta or Alpha (or certain exclusive equipment; Eggzookas were) get bonus stats as additional boost, Eggzooka having +4 more stats than other Auxes. I'd say what you're suggesting will be dealt with once Rabble gets to fixing slots which should be the project mentioned in the DNs.

Not supported. This would only serve to overpower the older weapons which would make the varium gap even further since with credits we know the prices would be sky high while varium would be cheaper.

Besides the staff already said they wouldn't be buffing old weapon without a good reason. In fact the last old item that I remember getting a buff was the gamma bot.

Mother1, I would like to remind you that
1. Yes, this will serve to empower old weapons. That basically sums the entire suggestion.
2. Your concern about the varium gap and the cost of varium weapons compared to credit ones is rather out of place. I did say after all, that the price to bring a weapon up to par would be the same as to buy a new one. This would apply for both varium and non varium. If you have a problem with the price of weapons or their enhancements, this is not the thread to talk about it.

Edit : This is not a buff. A buff would be simply to increase (free of charge) the stats/damage of old weapons. You have to pay for this.

@ Sympleton

while that is part of my concern the other part of my concern would be the Overpowering of the older weapons especially the alpha and beta weapons scene they are the some of the oldest weapons.

Also remember unlike the vast majority of equipment the beta weapons have no stat requirements which in itself is extremely OP the last thing this gear needs is more enhancement slots to make it even more OP.

I don't support buffing of any old weapons like this because chances are that people will use it to buff Beta and Founder gear or Bunnyzookas or the Spectral auxes and so on.

i do not support, because old rare weapons are old rares and we should keep them that way, and the only exception that will change my mind is that they will get the stats of the weapons now but keeping their old damage, or the other way around. but the founder and beta items should be restricted to this feature because they will become overpowered again. so any weapon/item that is gonna be overpowered will be restricted to be upgraded.

Beta: second oldest set, no req, great stats. so... what happens to that? Does that mean you will be able to alter your build solely through wep enhancements?
@trans: blue is hard to read -_-
