I think this is an interesting topic, although I think it needs to be looked at from a bigger perspective. People would probably want new weapons every year, aside from the usual returning (low leveled) ones, so I dug up the specific examples you used in your earlier post and took a look at the releases around the time in more detail to see what actually happened at the time. Most of the links are going to the event pages, for seasonal events refer to the latest year, rightmost tab. St. Patrick's Day/Easter/April Fools (they happen at pretty much the same time) It seems the 3 events were a bit overlapped with the Bionic Batallion Saga (not 100% sure if this was the Easter event?) which started at about March, about the time St. Patrick's was released, and ended a month later after April Fools. I personally was not here when this event occurred (I think I made it right before the stuff left for the Bionic Event. Last April Fool's and St. Patrick's Day nothing was really added, but there were a couple of weapons that came up with the Easter Rares. Valentine's Day As far as I can tell, the Heartbreaker Saga ties in as the ED Birthday event, and this year's was huge. I don't mean this necessarily with equipment only but with the event as a whole. It seems this was the time the Fryste War ended as well. Christmas ( Recurring, War) This event is probably the largest event everyone looks forward to annually. Last year's had the War event tied in with it, which released a ton of equipment, weapons and some new features brought to the game as a whole for features you see today, the EbilCorp War Bar being an example. Buffing items is not an option, and most of that is covered over here. I won't go into detail but if you recall, there was a reason as to why the Dragon Buster wasn't buffed back in the DragonCon event. This also gives the opportunity for lower leveled players to purchase/get something out of the event. The Livestream event last weekend hinted on a new content for this Halloween season: quote:
Q: Will the Hazard Husk return? A: It's tagged as rare, so it's not coming up. Something else will be equally enjoyable during the Halloween time. Lastly, we do have non-seasonal (sometimes war) events that bring in level cap items, the Infernal War and Dragonoid Saga are fresh and good examples of this. A lot of the weapons/armors available from the the latter can still be seen in Char's Shop, while you can take a look at the amount of weapons released for the Infernal War here. Overall I think that weapons and equipment would be one component of an event, undoubtedly the most noticed one, but I think looking at the event as a whole is helpful to see what was actually released, at the same time it could be a new and awesome feature you're using today. At the same time, if no new weapons are released, you can only expect other surprise special and non-recurring events to offset those weapons that you may be looking for.
