Sometimes i seriously wonder when the day will coem when people start to have some creativity when it comes to build making, honestly we all go for the same build depending on the class and keep that build until some genius comes up with another?

When will these dark ages end?

Discuss..

1.The skill tree is not big enough so that everyone can have an unique build.

Maybe if we adress the current balance problems....

I like some of the builds out there but seeing them too much just turns into "I need to make a build to counter THIS certain build" and not just "Oh, i wanna have a cool build thats unique"

I agree, too many people change to specific classes or use specific builds just because of having a good record or to get lots of wins. It's understandable for a week or so if they're going for a leaderboard, but it's just a little disappointing if that's the only reason they're using that specific build type. I'd appreciate more unique builds out there, but DvD made a good point about the skill tree not being unique enough. This pertains to certain situations, but I find myself still making unique builds all the time for each class (probably because I retrain more than I actually earn from fights...) that are almost as good or as good as the common builds.

People want to win and if they see an OP build that works, they are going to use it instead of creating their own build. Plus no matter how unique you think your build is someone somewhere has already made it.

@Mother1: not really sure you can prove that some builds aren't completely unique :P I would be surprised if someone else
had made the exact same 157 health tac merc build I used for ages.


stun grenades are currently underpowered, but the staff don't want to buff them because they might become OP.....

.....so why not get rid of them completely?

If usable skills replaced them, we would see more creativity. That's just one example too. so many skills either need to be
balanced, or replaced. we can only work with what we are given. 6 classes is also plenty too I feel, they just need some love.

1) When they get rid of minimum percentages to block, crit, and deflect.

2) When a stat gives you first turn 100% of the time and when the same, goes to something else and so on.

3) When attack skills are buffed.

The Win-Lose Records are the reason why people can't use different builds . If we have bad records , people tend to view it "negative" rather than "it's okay" .

@Pivotal
Removing them isn't much of an issue ( for me at least ) . I mean , if you're gonna say the % advantages of other builds are luck , so are those not-so-helpful minimums .

Simple.

When someone creative makes a creative OPed build, it gets copied and then the staff will nerf it.

As time goes by, there are no more build options left because everything creative gets nerfed.

Look at what happened to support.

The issue of copied builds will always remain as long as our skill trees and stats are visible. This is something that cannot be changed for the sake of the game, so there really isn't much that we can do, unfortunately.

@Pivotal,

I am quite serious about 1 and have been for a very long time now. Please do explain the issue. I'm guessing you have confused minimums with maximums as most do.

The players of this game have been CRUSHED these past 3 years. More and more regulations have been implemented to suppress creativity. We have focus, agility, and requirements on our skills. If the devs got out of the way, the players would be free to use or make any build that they desire.

@ angel

and if by creativity you mean Overpowered builds then yes. Without these 'creativity suppressors' as you put it all we would have is OP builds completely dominating the game. We would have two turn fights like when Str BM would fireball and berzeker you, OP caster TM running about, and OP Strength builds. There would be no balance just OP builds destroying everyone in less then a minute.

I see where you're going with this and I respectfully disagree. We've only had 1 oped build reign supreme at each duration of this game. There has never been a time where multiple oped builds existent. All we've done is stomp on one class only to have another rise and take it's place. If we allow everyone to have the same access to builds we can all be oped at the same time, thus that cancels out the "oped theory." A build is only oped because there is no way of killing it, unless if we run a build that is solely meant to defeat it or to class change into the current oped class.

IF there were OP builds everywhere, all matches will like last 2 turns..... That would suck and i think it will also take half the fun away.....

erm Angels...how can you say only one OP build has reigned at any one time, when Bounty Hunters have had an OP build since at least Gamma phase. During
that time, Mercs had the support build and the Maulzerker combo, Tactical Mercs reigned for 6months+ on release? Cyber Hunters for a similar duration?
Tech Mages and Blood Mages too even had a small run too. but during all those reigns, BH stood strong in 1v1 with the same build.

I think you misinterpreted my duration of time statement. When I was referring to duration of time, that meant 6 months, 2 months or 8 months. During those time periods only 1 class was oped.

Before TLM lost smoke, They and Cyber hunters were vastly overpowered and we both know this. Then after this nerf Blood mage and Cyber hunter were OP.

I only see hope in BH and BM left in this game. Everything else needs a change...

Before Tactical Mercs lost smoke, Cyber Hunters didn't have plasma armor and were underpowered. Blood Mages were still superior to Cyber Hunters because they could hit ridiculous amounts of damage and kill you before you could heal.

Lack of creativity is not the problem, the problem are huge amounts for stats.
