The title says it all. Do you think that using Varium on your character takes away anything away from the skill in the game? I person think no since with or without it you are still using the same brain to plan and win your fights.

player skill varies on many things. and varium shouldn't be one of them.
skill should be about how you play, how you make your builds, not copying builds, etc.
think of it this way, varium is just a higher proportion of stats compared to non vars.

EDIT:
like OWA said, you can be a good build maker as a non varium, varium would only further your abilities. it would only be a higher proportion of stats compared to non vars.

It depends really if you are using the Varium just so you can use a stat spam build then yes using Varium makes you less skillful. But if you are using varium gear to just farther your abilities and still have a brain about it then no you are just as skillful with or without Varim

Varium is just a flat power boost, has nothing to do with skill.

I have friends with var who are just bad at playing
var doesn't make you good or bad, the way you use the gear that you buy with it does

its the way you make you build and your skill tree, a varium with a bad understanding of game mechanics and strategy. i can still win battles with my low level suggestion items like my winter slayer and soul raiser gun and my wraith devastator(all of them are unenhanced) so it really depends on your judgement on the situation.

WARNING: Incoming Sarcasm

Varium makes me sooooo unskillful, such a loser noob that I have to use the most underused + underpowered types and styles.

Such as a Support-Tactical Mercenary with Field Commander and Thorns.

Yeah, I am so unskillful because I have a second currency.

I think the varium is getting to my head that I have to push my knowledge I mean my stupidity into using the weirdest skill sets and be a supportive player too. I mean, who else gives their opponent well wishes in a competition? I am so screwed.

A player with less skill can use Varium to gain the raw power needed to compete with and beat more skillful players.

Varium pretty much has no correlation to skill, unless you're intelligently taking full advantage of enhancements to make unique builds. In that case, it'd be the intelligence and understanding of creating the unique build, but varium itself won't promote player skill like how steroids enhance muscular growth.

not really zion, now non vars can compete just as well. if you are a varium but you are unskillful you will have a greater chance of losing every battle.

Essentially, this.

I haven't properly in a few weeks.

But since I started playing two years ago, I've been beaten by f2ps. It doesn't matter if you have Varium. Varium just gives you more powerful items. Some people can beat Varium players as a f2p.

I have no idea what changed, but I'm half sure that my logic isn't that flawed.

Ive seen plenty of var ppl that lose quite alot...
not really, the only bonuses are less farming, well, alot less farming, and generally better enhances and stats.

@topic question. I agree with what others have said, that it depends on you knowing how to actually play the game and that it just provides a boost in stats.

One other point that I hate is being a f2p player and seeing some varium players that just don't know why they are doing and seeing them waste money on a game they can't play. But hey that's their choice.

the only problem var is of benefit is the enhancements which are too costy for non var players like me so that's where var can dominate non var

EpicDuel will start requiring skill again when the generic attack/defense balance will allow fights to last at least twice as long as they do now.

But right now, with win-in-4-turns or win-at-first-rage patterns, it hardly requires any skill. Even grandma could pull out a >80% win ratio with my full varium character.

Everyone that plays Epicduel are all the same, with or without varium. It just depends on your weapons, your build, and your battle plan! Varium just gives you that, little extra boost!
But you have to remember, without the varium players, EpicDuel would have no funding. Without funding... EpicDuel goes bankrupt...

@ Rej

In another topic someone else said "The moment you buy varium you lose all your skill." At the same time While I didn't believe a word of it I wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way as this person so I asked.

It was said in this thread if you want to read where I got the idea from

It doesn't make you less skillful, however it DOES tend to make players lazy.
