I know this has been suggested too much times but the skill tree that merc used to have in gamma phase for example was the most effective, because they used to have a defense hybrid armor and imrpoved by technology skills, so it was equilibred, and also their blood shield to tank. When delta began the mercenary with the old skill tree fought very well the first tactical mercenaries which had smoke screen and maul being overpowered...
old merc rocks compared with the new one, i d personally not choose a normal mercenary to fight a tactical one, or a blood mage, i have tried too much builds and the new mercenary is not able to fight the other classes... i was a strenght mercenary, tank high energy mercenary and now a focus one...

Mercenary is only good against npcs, fast rage helps against them because they have not debuffs, so a merc can freely attack them getting rage in 3 turns...

Old skill tree would fix the mercenaries problem....

thing about the old skill tree though,
Stun - when an enemy was stunned, you did +15% damage. making merc stun valuable.
Berserker - did MUCH more damage than it does now
Artillery Strike - did 100% damage, and ignored 10% defense.
Field Medic - was scaled on support back then, and this was a huge plus to support merc survival.
hybrid - 12 defense/resistance at 1 point. it should go back to the old system.

its not so much as the old skill tree, but the old power.
everything was pretty much nerfed alot in gamma and nothing was ever really buffed.

the thing is though, it *may* have been balanced in gamma with 3 classes, but not in delta. merc just doesn't make the cut now compared to the others.

Well i was meaning the skill tree they used to have when delta began, it was the most equilibred one, maybe with the actual skills but that barely depends on what the devīs will do with the actual skills they have, maybe all the multi skills could be buffed, because all of them only work in rage or do a very low damage when they have high stats..

Ok I'm really tired of hearing about how the merc skill tree needs to be changed. Stop focusing on one thing when u make a build, and stop copying others build. Merc is made to be a tank, and somewhat a str class. In my opinion, merc is the 2nd best class in the game. You guys just don't know how to use it. If your having problems change classes and don't try to ruin to class by begging for changes just because you don't like the skills or it doesn't benefit you the way u want it to.

@cyber dream
Actually a mercenary depends of an assault bot to fight a decent battle, is not me who has the problem with my builds, i did my best with each one of the builds, i spend lots of credits changing them but in conclusion when i fight with my other characters a mercenary i feel happy because they are easy to take down by a class with a debuff...

The actual mercenary tree and the current skills we have are good yes, but not good enough to take down a blood mage, a tactical or a strenght bounty hunter...

For now you have the varium advantage which makes your mercenary much stronger than mine, but we are the only class which donīt have a defenssive buff, is not me who always keeps using the same builds, is the class in itself which is not good enough....

Actually the only build i have seen working is blood commander with tank and decent strenght and support...

Thereīs no way if only an specific build works for a class, it makes the game lose itīs fun

What i like about tech mages and bounty hunters is that they can try too much builds which are effective if used as well, their skill tree is more flexible

Though im not supported merc getting the old skill tree, i think they need some changes. But there s no need to suggest now when omega is really near with many changes. The high HP str build seems not as strong as it is now. So imo it s better to wait for the new phase and see if this issue still happens

@Cyber Dream: No, it's not particularly a tank class. In many cases, focus classes with BL can actually survive longer than merc, just because of faster rage for the opponents from tanking and passive armor penetration from rage. Also, a focus merc/tank merc has pretty much a 0% chance of beating a focus/tank TLM unless there's some severe luck/boosters involved. Merc in itself really gains strong builds from being support/strength builds, not anything else. Even merc casters aren't that effective anymore with massive strike and support builds, as well as the assault bot nerf. Just generally speaking, the strongest merc builds come from strength or support builds. Merc in itself is a unique class because it has very little defensive skills compared to all the other classes, and most of its skills are based off of offense.

Bring it back ( the old Merc but with current Zerk's power ) ? Sure , because you can have good abusable builds with it , but don't expect all of it to bring you to the top so easily .

You guys are right but we should wait until the support buff before we try to change the skill tree. That's the only problem I see with merc considering we don't have a defense buff btw the only way I could support this is if blood commander was replaced with defense matrix or something and our armor gets increased to 7 8...something like that

I have another idea, why not create a shield which takes energy and hp? it will also give more defense and ressistanse at the same time, when they changed our hybrid armor they said "hybrid armor must be hybrid", well is a logical and grammatical solution done by the devīs but my suggested skill would work on the next way

HYBRID SHIELD:

Sacrifice your health and energy to activate an hybrid shield for you or an ally. I did a chart to explain it: hp to def and energy to ressistanse

hp/def- en/ress
lvl1 +2 +2
lvl2 +2 +3
lvl3 +3 +3
lvl4 +4 +3
lvl5 +4 +4
lvl6 +5 +4
lvl7 +5 +5
lvl8 +6 +6
lvl9 +7 +7
MaX +8 +7

This skill would replace blood commander if you devīs and forumite partners donīt want to remove adrenaline or a new passive, is similar to blood shield and it is also supposed to have same cooldown and duration...

And my suggestion for a new passive in omega is one that can reduce the incoming damage by a small percent, not supposed to be in the same skill tree than my hybrid shield, i also did a chart for this one:

lvl1 5% damage reduction
lvl2 7%
lvl3 9%
lvl4 11%
lvl5 13%
lvl6 14%
lvl7 15%
lvl8 16%
lvl9 17%
MaX 18%

I preefer the first idea talking in balance terms, what do you think guys?
