Lol, Tech Mage is like the new Cyber Hunter with that assimilation. It REALLY needs a nerf. Assimilation is just too good. It's not the damage that was the problem, but it's effect is too abusive and powerful. It's cooldown is 3 which is way too fast, it can abuse energy freely with reroute, and it can take and steal energy a pretty strong amount altogether.

I suggest making the cool down 4 turns and steal only 60% of mana taken

I have a brilliant idea.
I definitely agree assimilation is powerful and effective especially with reroute so I think assimilation should be lowered by 1 per turn so level 1 assimilation would be 7 and it should be 50% of strike damage and be useable only twice per game.

I said this before and I will say it again. Just bring back the old assimalation, and double the number on that. even though it is being used for effect it had OP caster TM especially since now they need to invest strength to use Plasma bolt which in turn is powering up assimalation.

@above i agree, now caster techmages are too strong because of assimilation, they are already tanky with reroute and now they have a buffed up assimilation which they can loop continuously draining your opponent's Energy while gaining 100% of it back, only classes like tactical mercenary can deal with this kind of build since they have passive energy regain and can loop their atom smash, i am seeing more and more of caster techmages these days and they are really hard to beat if you drain their energy so that they cannot use plasmabolt but they just come and drain your energy so that you can't heal and they got back enough energy to use plasmabolt next turn.

Why should skills be useable once per battle? How about SC useable once per battle because it's so weak that it should have such restriction? Skills won't be done in the same way as cores because it's restricting builds.

How about giving Assimilation 2 functions?

1) Assimilation (Energy Drain) Cooldown: 3 turns

2) Assimilation (Energy Drain + Energy Gain) Cooldown: 4 turns

I think that's the way that it could be fixed in my personal opinion.

doesn't assimilation give you more energy than static charge?
