this applies more especially to factions with dailies and lots of wins.
for example
my faction has 167 dailies and 1 million+ wins
if it were to be disbanded, i would be extremely mad and disappointed. because it threw away all of the hard work put in by all of its members, present and past.
theres always a reason behind a disband though (unless its just to hop to another faction)
however if there was a founder step down feature then maybe there wouldn't be so many factions disbanding.

each faction is like a pack, u join it and u become new friends with the members.
leaving it is like betraying them. especially if u left to join the arch enemy.
this happens mostly on competitive factions though.
if the faction is a chill faction that doesn't care about wins, they usually get over it.
