Title says it all. People are quiet for the whole fight, then right at the end, they call you something very rude, but you can't report them because the battle ends.
How about a reporting system where you can just type in a player name to file the report, instead of having to be in the same room, or in a fight with a player.
Its gotten to the point where I just leave the reporting option checked because so many people take advantage of the battle ending saving them from being reported.

Supported since that does get annoying and many players abuse that because they can't get clicked to be reported.

Supported, this actually happened to me multiple times previously when I was a more active player.

A reporting system where you could just type in the player's name and fill in the report could be abusive.

I suggest being able to report players from the screen after the battle ends.
Additionally add buddies from there as well.

Abusive? How so. They have a system like that in AQW, and it isn't abused, if anything, it helps the games catch scammers/rude players.

@ Gearzheadz

Ever hear of false reporting? People could do that to people just because they don't like them or want to get them in trouble.

^Yes but I'm sure the reporting systems aren't susceptible to such things... I'd like to know how the reporting system actually worked.

Players already abuse the normal report button. Not like anything can get worse.

Anyway, I support this. You will also be able to report players that are disturbing you out of battle, and briefly leave right before you can report them.

The staff typically have to check every report made (I sure hope they do), and making it much easier to report people could really end up being a pain for moderators and staff, especially when dealing with those kids who report you after blocking 2-3 times in a row out of luck.

^So don't implement a potentially helpful system just so the staff can get some slack?

You underestimate the immaturity of the community. It's not a little slack, it's a LOT, meaning that it can substantially slow down the pace of new releases. However, it is a very important suggestion, it just needs some limitations so it can't be overly abused.

@Exploding

It surely can't be any worse than it is now.

@dual Yeah it can. Now this can lead to people fighting in the LBs getting their friends to spam report the guy in first and claim he's cheating in some form or another. You can get friends to just spam report some guy you just don't like anytime you feel like it. Making it easier to use the system also makes it easier to abuse the system

First off, the idea of the system being abused to 'wrongly mute/ban' people needs to be put out of everyone's heads, since this simply is not possible! Every single report is read and dealt with by a member of the Moderating team and as such, is dealt with by someone who can view the evidence and take action or leave it depending on whether that person has actually broken the rules. This means if someone is reported, whether it be for cheating, language or anything, no matter how many times they are reported, if they have not actually broken the rules and there is no evidence to do so, then no action will be taken against them.

That being said, as has been shown here, a lot of people are still viewing the system as the old system (which was changed over long ago!) which was possible to abuse, since it was automated and the system simply dealt with things. Even though this is no longer the case at all, as stated above, quite a lot of people do think it. This means some of those people could attempt to abuse the system leaving Mod's with piles and piles of false reports that simply sets back the genuine reports from being answered as quickly as they can be! That being said, this is not the only reason that stands against this, it simply is the first one that comes into my head.

So, to an extent, there is an argument on both sides of the story. It can be a pain and unproductive, but at the same time it is something I know has been asked for a few times. All I can promise is to investigate the options and see what can be done, however whether this does get sorted soon or not, rest assured, the report system cannot be abused to get people falsely punished!

I am curious... If the moderator bans or mutes a player that lacks evidence of wrongdoing, is it possible for a moderator to abuse the button due to personal relations etc?

@lionblades

Well there is a reason why mods are carefully picked

This has undoubtedly happened at least once in the history of ED, if not at least one of Artix's games. But as Dual Thrusters said, this is why there is a careful selection of the new moderators. First off, there is an age requirement possibly for legal purposes(?) but also because the older someone is, the more mature they are (typically). Meaning if an 8-year-old was a mod or some unnamed members on the forums who we all look at as quite childish, then it would not end well for a few players before the moderator was stopped. This is also why they ask for a resume and a history of the player, as well as look at their activity in-game.

@Lionblades - I will answer that, though Dual Thrusters and Exploding Penguin (What a poor penguin!) did answer you very well, however this is going slightly off topic and is something best to be discussed in PM if really needed.

The basic answer is that there are a lot of layers in security sort of means that makes it so power abuse by Moderators is not possible at all. To go a bit more into detail - First off, as mentioned above, the process for picking out new Moderators is extremely vigerous and this makes sure that only those that we feel can handle the position in a mature and suitable manner will be considered and taken on. Then, when those picked to become moderators, they cannot take action on a person without suitable evidence and that evidence will be stored away with the action taken by the Moderator in question for any future reference. If still an action that someone feels is incorrect does take place, they can then contact the AE Help Team, who are a team of completely neutral individuals who can look at the situation with an outside view and review all the action and evidence in question. In which case the AE Help Team will sort out those emails on a case by case basis. However, with the amount of security levels so-to-say before that, issues very rarely, if ever, arise. The way things are done allow Moderators to keep the game safe and allow players to be safe from any power abuse, since we make sure power is only handed to those who prove they are more than capable of dealing with it in a fair and justified manner.

Again, if you want to discuss this further, please do so via PM - any posts corresponding with Mod actions etc. from this post onwards will be deleted!

Thank you Lycus for your responses. :)

I also just found out that The Lawman forum account had stopped taking reports through PMs so this feature in-game could work as a replacement for that.

@xapapp

The lawman is gone for that reason. When they added the new system the lawman was rendered obsolete.
