Everyone can find work-arounds anyway, so why bother >>

Also it is really annoying when it blocks your messages even when it doesn't have anything offensive. And its hard to work-around when it does so, literally blocking just about anything you say.

Its part of the AE company, they have to retain a child-friendly gaming experience. Allowing these things would be against their morals and code.

Yea, i once wanted to write "thank you very much :)" - what happened ? This and all versions i thought of, no matter with or without smiley, got blocked. Others swaer all the time very unpolitely, bypassing the filter, and i get blocked for kind talk

This is just one exapmle. The filter most often does not work like it should, also it is mostly the youth that bypasses the filter, not the adults of ED. So where the cause for the filter ?

This sort of problem occurs for all of the games that have a chat filter and it's known that these things happen. Getting rid of it will only make things worse and the game itself will become filled with insults. Artix Entertainment is a game for children and do you want them to learn such words?
However I know that you can still get the message across by missing a few words.

Rather than suggesting the filter to get removed, suggest ways to make it better! How would you feel is someone constantly swears at you? With it removed, you can let your mind loose.

We all find ways to bypass these filters. In school, if YouTube is blocked, don't most people use proxies? Yes! So should proxies get removed?

I would feel really uncomfortable if while playing this game some player at Oz started talking about obscene stuff right when my mom walks through the door.

It's just uncomfortable and I feel like it's there to make the game still appeal to people who have morals. When people are online and anonymous they can say things that can get really offensive. This just opens to many bad doors. Especially if parents are going to be paying for their childrens varium and want to see what the game is actually like. This isn't a good idea.

Just edited out an unneeded word ~Lycus

so everybody can't say inappropriate things in games but can talk everythink in kid scholl without problem? i dont know of nobody that not send you son to school because offensive language risk, so why in games is needed a several censorship?

As the topic on hand should have reminded you, inappropriate language is not wanted within AE environments, due to the age groups that are involved in many of them, this is not the best place to use examples of inappropriate words! ~Lycus

Hadn't thought about it that way. Agreed then, a rework of the filter would be super.

Well, dfo, it's a worldwide law. I'm pretty sure each gaming industry around the world will have a chat filter in MMORPG games to reduce swearing to a minimum, so the companies must follow it if they wanna be in business. At school, you can't really control that (going back to your example).

I agree with you. I want that thing to be gone.

It censors "duck" in croatian among other words. I mean some things that are getting flagged are just nonsence. Plus, it gets buggy sometimes and filters words like "Cyber Hunter", "yes" and "no" etc.
Atleast fix it.

it dosent get buggy just happen that theprevious sentence you typed was somewhat link to those words to form a obscene word and the system thought your trying to escape the filter

Locking this right now, since quite bluntly, this is not going to happen. The chat filter is there for a reason, to protect the younger players from inappropriate language. Yes, players may be able to find ways around the filter, there are always going to be substitutes that can be used in ways to avoid it, however the filter still acts as a warning and a deterrent. It means they instantly know that if anyone reports them using that language, they will be punished and that they are not supposed to be saying those words.

Put it this way, if we remove the chat filter and allow anything to be said, it gives us no leg to stand on when punishing this language, because we are saying 'we are going to allow you to type in and send all these nasty words, however we will punish you for using them, so it's pointless us doing this and it's simply going to add to the amount of people causing trouble' - now I know some people will most certainly read that and say 'why do you need to punish people for it then? Why not just leave it?'; that simply goes back to the beginning... The game is designed to be accessible for younger players and due to this, we have a duty to provide a safe environment for them, the rules VERY CLEARLY state you cannot use any inappropriate language and the language filter simply stands to back this up. Yes people can get around it, however they are punished for doing so. What people also do not realise is that though a punishment may seem light when first received, but in the long run, it likely will stand as a black mark by your name if you ever apply for a position in the game etc. - at the end of the day, we try to limit the amount of bad language in-game, we cannot remove all of it, but we can do as much as possible.

What needs to be remembered is that not everyone wants to be sat listening or saying inappropriate language, if you do, then fine, but EpicDuel is not the place to be doing, nor are any other AE games or environments (such as the forums). If you do not like this, then that is simply how it is, however it is also quite a selfish thought, because clearly no consideration is being given to those of the younger ages or to those who prefer to have an environment of clean and appropriate language. This obviously does not apply to everyone, since I know a lot of our members are very appreciative of others and the games rules! However quite simply, we do not support or allow inappropriate language in EpicDuel. If you see anyone use it, use the in-game reporting system and it will be dealt with. If you use inappropriate language at all in-game, do not be surprised if/when you are punished.

We understand there are one or two bugs with the filter, blocking out some harmless sentences - sadly it's not simple to fix, however it is easy to work around by simply rephrasing the sentence or changing words. Sadly it is the price that has to be paid because of people who do want to swear and that symbolise the reason the language filter is there. If a topic wants to be created describing ways that the filter can be improved, that would be fine, however it is not being removed. Improving it is tricky, however it may be possible, of course that would be down to the Developers to look into and see the possibilities.
