Hey guys... I've been gone for awhile but I'm here now.
How would you run your perfect faction?
What battle mode?
Would you go for dailies?
How would you determine officers?
Recruiting techniques?
How many dailies?
Flag location?
Win requirement?

Well for me, I run HAX a lot differently than others. Yes we are a juggernaut faction but I do not confine my players to one battle mode. On non daily days they can fight whatever they want and without a win requirement. On daily days they got to try hard. My recruiting technique is basically I want to be close friends with my members so they feel welcomed and a part of something bigger. Yes I do gloat sometimes about success but that build faction popularity. Over all, I consider my faction to be a cohesive group of players who love and grow off of each other working towards a common goal.

You're probably 'running' a perfect faction if all members enjoy themselves and have no plans to leave and hop over to another one. Getting the right people to fill the limited spots is probably the hardest challenge. The people you need to find should both be loyal and interested in the faction's goals. Once you've passed that wall, it's basically adapting to what your members and you want and what's good for the long term.

So to run through the questions:

I would run the faction the way I want to run it. Assuming this is a competitive faction, I would set the requirements to what I would want it to be. Once you get members who want to meet those requirements, you should be looking back at how high (or low) your bar is set and adjust it to suit your specific faction (because ultimately, you're no longer the only one in there).

I'd also be ask them to be open with you immediately after they're recruited. If they dislike something or have a suggestion, they should be aware that they can tell you (the leader). Of course, it's up to you as to whether or not the suggestion is implemented, or if a compromise is to be made in between.

Battle mode is purely dependent on what you, the leader, want. You are creating the faction. If you like 2v2 and create a 1v1 faction then something is wrong. You, as well as everyone in the faction, should be playing the battle mode they want to play.

Going for dailies would depend on how often your faction wants to go for it. You can always experiment. If your faction is clearly losing some dailies because you go too often, reduce the amount of times you run it. If you're winning all your dailies spot on every time you go for it, try raising the amount of times you go. And it goes without saying that you should be able to communicate with your faction. If changing everyone's title to 'VISIT HQ NOW' to get them to read something, then by all means do that.

I would personally determine officers by how long they've been in the faction and how trustworthy they are (subjective to whatever opinion you have of the person). That said, I don't really have a problem with placing officers in based on influence since that shows how dedicated they are to the faction... in a sense. There isn't really a lot of damage an officer can do to a faction. The most they can do is probably delete some NoteBot messages. It's not the end of the world if you pick the wrong officer, so I would say this is another area you could experiment in as well.

I've been gone too long to give any solid recruitment techniques. I would get people you know as the core group of players. After that, recruit in the public and experiment. See if they fit in. If they don't, then don't let them suffer by removing they're enjoyment of the game. Tell them they're free to leave and they're not handcuffed to you or your faction.

Dailies would be determined by experimenting, as mentioned above. You won't really know how much is too much until you try.

I would assume the most strategic way would be to pick the flag with the lowest amount of influence (? - I was going to say tokens.. heh) and just capture that one? Not sure what difference it would make to capture a flag with more influence/more work required to capture. Unless you want a ton of people to pass it over at Central Station... I guess?

Win requirement would begin where you want it, then adjustments made based on how your faction copes with that requirement, as well as whatever input they give on it. Ultimately your decision, hopefully one that's for the best of the faction.

Post was a bit longer than I would have expected... To sum up:
    - Loyalty is key. If they don't plan to stay for long, they probably shouldn't be staying in your faction in the first place.

    - Communicate with your faction regularly. Hated the fact that the faction leader was inaccessible and virtually a ghost way back when I was in a small, unknown, never-to-be-seen-again faction.

    - Take input from your faction and adjust your requirements when needed.

    - The people in your faction should want AND enjoy being there. Being there for the sake of holding the name of a 'famous' faction isn't really a great member and shouldn't be there.

    - There's no solid method to what you're asking. Anything above is how I would approach it. Others would probably have their own input and method (which hopefully they'll share as well)

    - Have fun. If every member is happy in your faction and wants to stay there for many, many months or years to come then you're running the perfect faction.

Looking for the right people to fit in your faction isn't easy, but will help your faction do better in the long run. In the meantime, I'll continue running my own perfect faction. Everyone's an alt, no win requirements, no complaints.

Perfect faction would be like 3 stars and sun or death syndicate X. They win dailys 100% of the time if they wanted. No varium bribing or cheating.
Just teamwork and dedication and great faction leaders. It is perfection through domination of the epicduel nation, it is like poetry in motion, smooth as lotion,
if you do good you get a promotion, if you do bad you get a termination, at then end of the day, they are the game's best collection.

@Pemberton nice poem xD

Anyways, my perfect faction is when it is full of individuals who want to stay there through "thick and thin" and work hard to better the faction and dont think of themselves as opposed to everyone as a whole. A perfect faction is not one that cheats or bribes as well as does not depend on one player either. In my opinion there are only a few out there that were semi "perfect" but there has not been a truly perfect faction out there yet. I run mine to the best of my abilities and it is in my opinion one of those semi "perfect" ones due to the fact that we all work hard and not base off one person and we dont use alts or anything of that manner which means our high win count is that much more "sweet" when we get victories. And as SMGS stated above, those who want to stay and help fac become best it can be, that makes a good faction. But for those factions that have one member leave and they take half the fac with them that is nothing close to "perfect" but rather the point that they cant run a faction without those core players. Hope you all have a good life and i wish you luck in your future endeavors :)

It's just my opinion. I didn't really feel the domination of the late factions like Control Alt Death or Meganet because they only won
because in Delta was the BIGGEST varium advantage with enhancements. Sorry but making all your members class change and use the same OP Build
and racking up wins is not a the mark of a good faction imo.

@pemben
you're kinda contradicting yourself there.

you mean to tell me DSX didn't use "OP" builds with heal loop mage, support mage, str merc, and str BH?
the game wasn't balanced back then either, but to say they never used "OP" builds or switched to the latest builds is quite ignorant, since probably every faction in ED has/had members that switched to OP builds.
and back then most big factions had the founder advantage. (during beta, since it was by far the best armor in the game)

since you also mention CAD, ill give you a little history listen.
there were 2 CADs (Both founded by VIX, and i was in both)
the first one was during mid january to mid february of 2011. it only lasted about a month, and racked up about 26 dailies in a month.
During this time DSX was in their 90s in dailies. and vix disbanded because he had college tests coming up.

then we split up for about 3 months and came back in june 2011 (During late gamma). after vix was done with college.
most of the old Core members (Vix, Ice Wolf, staber, Mamaril, Deathnightmare, me, and others) came back

In the 2nd CAD i co-founded and co-lead the faction.
Turkishincubus later joined as a co-leader, and me and him were the build makers for the faction, supplying builds to members if they needed them. (much like Dax used to with DSX). we created lots of these "OP" builds, and passed it on to the faction to gain the competitive advantage over others.
some builds we made included SC dex mage, Str Tlm, Dex heal loop CH, mass CH, (str, tank, mid str/sup), 139 HP str BH variation, dex TLM, 5 focus SS TLM, str BM (fireball/zerker, Fireball/bludgeon variations), and many others.

i think its unfair that you say we only switch to "OP" builds when more often than not, we made the "OP" builds.
and there wasn't just varium advantage in delta, there's been a varium advantage since as far as i can remember after founder armor came out.

when people look at factions, they only look at the wins, they never see the preparation, planning, and effort that goes on behind the scenes.

and id like to tell you more about other factions, however it will probably get the thread locked since its controversial.

How would you run your perfect faction? Have select armors, colors, hairstyles, bots, guns, auxs.
What battle mode? 1v1, 2v2
Would you go for dailies? Nope.
How would you determine officers? At least 1000 influence, plays 2-3 per week
Recruiting techniques? Recruit active players
How many dailies? More like weeklies
Flag location? Does not matter.
Win requirement? None.

A nice faction where more than 10% of the members are active would be nice. I've been in nothing but near dead factions since I started.

Goldlyer, it's funny that your faction created all the builds :)
Btw, delta was the BIGGEST varium vs non-varium gap. Lets be honest here. Variums had 40-50 more stats than non varium...
That advantage was insurmountable. And yeah, varium cores and robots too.
I also don't like varium bribing in factions.

i never said we created all the builds. but we did create new builds to keep a competitive advantage.

and you know how the build copying works. as soon as people see a guy on the LBs (i.e someone from the faction), others start copying his build. its always been like this.

i guess its good that, that never existed in CAD. cant say the same about the opposition though.

You gonna be active again, i miss you man...

@Pemberton

Your arguments are not valid. A friend of mine by the name of UrFear has been non var the whole time and is/was one of the best players around. The gap did not stop him and many others. Also,

DSX although was led by my friend they used "OP" builds. CaD was just full of hard workers who made their own builds. I know this from experience because i was once one of those helpers for

builds when i was a member there before i left. Also, they did not once bribe with varium like MEGANET did, they just had a good reputation, solid core of players and when that is put together people

want to be a part of it. That is why they were so strong just as at them moment my 2v2 faction is very strong.

I wish you all luck in your future endeavors :)

IDK, probably not going to be active but may check things out once in a while.
the game doesn't interest me as much as before. its not worth it with all the (balance) changes constantly being made only to have them be failed attempts.

UrFear and his brother KREPAX as well, both were big time non vars during delta.

@Expert
and thanks for clearing that up.
seems like people like to argue things when they dont know the whole story.

^Goldlyer, let's make a bet. Who has more class changers, CAD or DSX + 3Stars and Sun combined. I think you know the answer. :)
