since the update has open, l think not bad update mages got battery backup and lost reroute which mages did rely on for their builds. some players have said that now mages are tanks with battery backup. well u need more then battery backup now for a mage. but when l asked mercs about battery backup some said it is strong but some said they did not touch are static smash which is a very thing now that mercs are using for their build, l have np with static smash that mercs use they needed it like mages need battery backup since reroute has left the game.mages needed something

tlm need battery backup since they lost reroute too. also remb battery back up has a 4 round cool down to which l think was a very smart move by the devs.

so how do the rest of the ed players feel about battery backup plz feed back would be nice

my thoughts on this

always the syfy

For some it is just too potent. That and the opponent basically lost control or their opponent's energy which a lot don't like.

With the old reroute you gave them energy everytime you attack them, and because of this when they knew you needed it the most they could do something else to avoid triggering it. Now as I said that power is gone.

Also with the new battery back up you can gain so much energy all at once where as before you couldn't with reroute who another aspect of control has been lost.

These make it harder to deal with caster TM's for certain builds and they don't like it.

Add to the fact that energy costs for every other class with their new skills went up, and tech mage has Assimilation on top of this, and Tech mage has no real worries about energy where as the other classes do. That in many players eyes is unfair and to many overpowered.

I'm sure that, while all other classes have to struggle to make a move since everything gas costs, while TMs have a enormous energy pool, which is essencially their damage output. Not even with energy drain you can put them out since battery+ assimilation is more than enough to put them into play.
In the devs own words, a skill should not be obligatory in all builds for a class. Thats pretty much all said.

well that might be true so what about the no cost always get manna from the mercs static smash skill that is or maybe then needs some nerf. they can draw up to 72% of their damg strike. which is alot to.

These are good points.

Think back to the original Static Charge. There are few differences between O. Static Charge and Battery Backup in terms of energy use.

@ Depressed void

The differences with the original static and battery back up are the following.

1 The old static was triggered with a strike attack and gave back energy based on actual damage where as battery backup just gives back energy
2 The old static any class that could lower strength had a way to weaken it where with battery back up there is no way to weaken it.
3 The old static due to the way the game was could be stopped cold with a block.

I said in terms of energy use. Ignore damage.

Original Static Charge gave energy based on the Primary weapon + Strength damage, so even Intimidate never reduces the energy gained below 50% because so far, our weapon damage is higher than our Strength damage. Original Static Charge was a reliable energy skill, and blocks did NOT reduce energy gained. It gained energy even when blocked.

@ Depressed

I remember reading some old design notes, and I remember the original static didn't work with raw damage. It was changed to be like that from what I read. Plus even when it was working with raw damage no one ever gained energy when blocked since blocks negated damage back then.

here are the notes I remember reading this from

They might have changed it a month after releasing the new classes, because I only started as a Cyber Hunter after a month of being a Tactical Mercenary at the dawn of Delta (they had Smokescreen, so it became popular, then I changed). Since the day I was a Cyber Hunter, Static Charge was giving approximately 20 less energy (about 25) but it had a cooldown of only 2 turns, not like Battery Backup's 4. So I would get about 25 energy every 3 turns when I used it, vs Battery Backup's 45 energy every 5 turns. Why it was buffed I do not know, maybe someone was whining again.

I have screenshots but they do not show anything relating to this, all I can do is provide a testimony from my experience (about a year) of being a Cyber Hunter even during the reign of the Tactical Mercenaries.

I CLEARLY remember that even though blocks reduced Static Charge's damage to 0, the energy gain would remain the same.
