second idea aside, perhaps we could have a test on the rules each month. nothing hard, just a simple look over, and we would ask a few questions, and people would write in there answeres. this would cause less misconceptions over the rules, could be very fun, and would be nothing too hard. if you failed, you would just get asked to go over the rules again or do a re- take. i am completely open to comments.

On the forums we look for quality rather than quantity. With that being said - the General Discussion boards will never be a race for “who can get the most posts!

A competition like this would merely result in a mass number of spam and/or useless posts by users who desire to win said contest. To add to that, ninety percent of spam posts lead to flaming, trolling, unconstructive criticism, etc. – all of which directly oppose the Comprehensive Forum Rules.

As for the test idea. Even though it would be good for everyone to know the rules. It would be quite hard to do make a monthly test and expect everyone to take it. It would be a little too much. Besides, it is expected of you to review and follow the rules anyways.

I like the idea though, it would be good for the community.

@Skurge i now see your point *facepalm*

@char yes, that is true, although 90% of the people that are my friends have joined the forums and straight out skipped reading the rules. this causes them to get in trouble frequently. maybe not a test, but we do need someway to get the rules across

That actually does sound like a good idea. Where would this test be held? in each forum?

@Lord Beck yes, that would be the best idea. then, when the time came, and AK would open the thread called "Test" or something along the line. you would have a few questions listed, and they would have to actually take the time to read the rules and answer. this would give them a better understanding of the rules, and would then cause less problems due to rule incompetency inside each forum. if they got it wrong, there would be no penalty, just a small reminder edited into there post, telling them the answer. the thread would stay open for about 2 weeks, giving most people enough time. if someone cannot do the test in the time given, they would PM the designated AK of the thread, and the AK could send them a private test in a PM that they would fill out and re-PM to the AK. if you have any more questions or clarifications, feel free to ask. thanks a ton

Adorable!

I'm not sure if I understand correctly the goals of the "Test".
All the forumites should know the rules, and all of the AK should know them into depth in order to able to enforce them.
Furthermore, using the Forum Support subforum, you can ask anything about the forum rules if you're not sure if a rule means what you think it means. You can also PM the different AK in any day of the month if you have a question, and they will be glad to answer

It's not a bad idea at all, but I don't think it is really necessary, considering all of the other options available and the effort making such test threads will require.

@pyropuppy i completely agree with you, but the one thing that is nagging me, and pushed me to make this suggestion in the first place, is the fact that sometimes people don't WANT to read the rules. I know some people (i used to be one of them) did not read the rules, simply because it takes time and effort, and all they are really interested is the game and the community. i think the test would actually be very useful, although your point made me see the fact that perhaps the "Test" could happen every four months, or every three. I also see that it would be quite a bit of work for the forum staff and AK's, but i think we could find more pros than cons in the end. if you have anymore questions or comments, feel free to ask.
thanks for your time,
-Salene

Well, I hate pointing it out, but not knowing the rules or caring to learn them has a way of resulting in learning them the hard way.

That said, I can't imagine how it would be feasible to test all 200,000+ forum members every couple of months.

@Chii i suppose your right. perhaps the test could happen every year? well then, nevermind, i guess it wouldn't work. anyway, thanks to all of you for your time and consideration, and have a nice day.
