When comparing at the Cooldown and the amout of energy tranferring around, the amount of energy Static Charge grants back is greatly lesser then the amount taken away be Assimilation, Static Grenade, and Atomic Smasher, Static Smash. They take away about twice as much energy as the amount Static Charge grants, while they share the same Cooldown.

Therefore I propose a change to the percentages.

quote:

Change to the %

Level 1: 80% Damage to Energy
Level 2: 88% Damage to Energy
Level 3: 96% Damage to Energy
Level 4: 104% Damage to Energy
Level 5: 112% Damage to Energy
Level 6: 118% Damage to Energy
Level 7: 124% Damage to Energy
Level 8: 130% Damage to Energy
Level 9: 136% Damage to Energy
Level 10: 140% Damage to Energy

quote:

50% defense ignore on Energy return only

Level 1: 40% Damage to Energy
Level 2: 44% Damage to Energy
Level 3: 48% Damage to Energy
Level 4: 52% Damage to Energy
Level 5: 56% Damage to Energy
Level 6: 59% Damage to Energy
Level 7: 62% Damage to Energy
Level 8: 65% Damage to Energy
Level 9: 68% Damage to Energy
Level 10: 70% Damage to Energy

Level 5: 40% Damage to Energy
Level 6: 42% Damage to Energy
Level 7: 44% Damage to Energy
Level 8: 46% Damage to Energy

sure , so if i hit 300 i will gain 420 energy back.
there was a small thing called str abuse that makes any skill that relies on str overpowered.

therefore not supported.

the problem in the skill is for ppl who deal 30 damage , even if the skill had 500% conversion their problem won't be fixed , which is why some want a defence ignore on the regain instead as orginally suggested by trans.

First, how'd you strike 300?
Second,
Assimilation can easily take away 200+ energy. Battery Backup grants 350 without any strength, and in your case Static Charge grants 420 if you can deal 300 strike damage.
Static Grenade can easily take away 300+ energy. It grants you 100+ energy as well, without any strength investment.

By the way, I'd like to know how you think can hold a balance in terms of energy control for each class.

Wouldn't it be better if you make it start at 55% and cap at 100% instead? I agree with DarkDevil, 300 damage can be dealt and this would be disastrous EP return + you deal 100% unblockable damage. Just so you know, I am aware of how bad Static Charge can be, because I have a L30 CH of my own - hence why I've had a suggestion of having 50% defense ignore on Energy return only, which would make it more appealing for non-Str build and much better on tanks - which is what SC needs, badly.

CHs can have excellent Energy control, especially since EMP is really powerful, but overshotting SC buff would be also bad - do you remember what happened when PA was introduced, as a buff? Overshot greatly, and SC ended up being nerfed into oblivion. :/

300 Static Charge damage can be dealt, however, on very few circumstances. Now, most players have 30 def/resis on average on levels 35 and above.
Dealing 300 damage mean you need to have 600 Primary damage, which is only possible with one of the Commanders and a debuff on the opponent, which seems to be only possible in a 2vs2 match. Most CHs use an Energy primary, so the coordinating debuff will be Malfunction, which improves with support. However, a few months ago, Malfunction received a nerf, which means only support abuse partners are capable of casting a debuff on the target or a buff on you.

@Trans
Ignoring 50% def on energy return sounds pretty nice, however, I'm not sure if the amount is even enough.

For EMP, it does take away an ideal amount of energy, however, it has an energy cost. Skills like Assimilation, Static Grenade, and Static Smash have no energy cost at all, so players usually 'spam" them, leaving you no energy to use a level 1 EMP grenade. When a CH manages to gain energy through Static Charge, the opponent simply uses one of the skills. Since they share the same cooldown, there's no way a CH has time to store energy.

Yes, I'm aware of EMP's cost which is a drawback, but can also be powerful at low level - and used early on, so you have EP to do so.

For the 300 defense example, and 500 damage, I could show you how SC would perform with 50% defense ignore.

Current:
Lvl 1 (40%) - 500 - 300 = 200 * 0.4 = 80 EP returned
Lvl 5 (56%) - 500 - 300 = 200 * 0.56 = 112 EP returned
Lvl 10 (70%) - 500 - 300 = 200 * 0.7 = 140 EP returned

My suggestion:
Lvl 1 (40%) - 500 - (300*0.5) = 350 * 0.4 = 140 EP returned
Lvl 5 (56%) - 500 - (300*0.5) = 350 * 0.56 = 196 EP returned
Lvl 10 (70%) - 500 - (300*0.5) = 350 * 0.7 = 245 EP returned

Your suggestion:
Lvl 1 (80%) - 500 - 300 = 200 * 0.8 = 160 EP returned
Lvl 5 (112%) - 500 - 300 = 200 * 1.12 = 224 EP returned
Lvl 10 (140%) - 500 - 300 = 200 * 1.4 = 280 EP returned

Our suggestions are pretty close, using these examples. There's one difference: yours would be very powerful on glass cannon builds, with low defense - this doesn't apply to high level players, but also those at around Lvl 20-30, where players have low defenses on some occassions.

I'm not disagreeing with suggestion to buff SC, since it needs one, but overshotting will be a disaster. CHs could get nerfed into oblivion for the second time. :I

the class has malfunction too , this is a snyrgy which has to be taken into consideration.

i do 300 damage all the time with 530 damage and malf.

also those numbers are on glass cannons , what if the player has 460 damage and enemy has 400 defence .

the outcome of the ignore will be 180 while that on the magnitude overbuff will be 80 , see where the difference really comes ?

How about just making the move do RAW damage once more? This would stop the reliance if using an E Blade with Malfunction, and would also stop glass cannon's power, which, as I am a Cyber, is strong at the moment. This would help out tank builds and focus 5 builds.

The synergy would also be invented once more.

However, for it to be...on par with some other E Gain skills, the guaranteed gain would have to be taken away. However, the move would once more be allowed to critical and be used on rage again. HOWEVER, since the move is based on RAW damage again, the criticals/rage/malfing the opponent would NOT gain ANY extra EP. EP gain would be based on how it was once before.

OLD skill with unblockable Energy Gain and actual damage
Level 1: 40% Damage to Energy
Level 2: 44% Damage to Energy
Level 3: 48% Damage to Energy
Level 4: 52% Damage to Energy
Level 5: 56% Damage to Energy
Level 6: 59% Damage to Energy
Level 7: 62% Damage to Energy
Level 8: 65% Damage to Energy
Level 9: 68% Damage to Energy

New skill with blockable Energy Gain and raw damage
Level 1: 28% Damage to Energy
Level 2: 31% Damage to Energy
Level 3: 34% Damage to Energy
Level 4: 37% Damage to Energy
Level 5: 40% Damage to Energy
Level 6: 42% Damage to Energy
Level 7: 44% Damage to Energy
Level 8: 46% Damage to Energy
Level 9: 48% Damage to Energy
Level 10: 50% Damage to Energy

This would mean that if you can do 450-500 damage, you would gain, regardless of actual damage, 216-240 energy with a level 9 Static Charge.

Again, the amount is not close to enough compared to other energy drainers.

You get 220 energy with Static Charge, and there comes a Static Grenade that takes away 300.
You get 220 energy with Static Charge, and there comes Assimilation that takes away 250.

Since they have the same cooldown, the cycle just goes on and on. The CH will just be getting energy to give to the energy drainer.

I'll edit the first post and add your ideas~~

It'd difficult to make EP return higher than the EP drain. If we want a fair comparison, between the two, you would need equal amount of the two stats - one which improves the return (SC) and other which improves the drain (<insert name here>), so it all ends up on timing it properly. All EP returning skills are potent to EP draining skills, and it often comes down to "when should I use it and not lose it?"

Not mentioning we're talking about one flawed feature here - Energy. Why won't you train Energy and have high SC? Yes, you're losing stat points but you're making the EP draining a bit weaker, since your pool is higher. We're all sitting on pretty much base Energy and complain about it, when we can train it but choose not to - because we have EP returning skills. So y'know.
