Concerning the face-to-face battles you suggested, for example you vs a member of variation, you do know that ED is a game of luck? In order to win this battle, many things should be taken in consideration: equipement + cores + ranks (or levels) + luck factors + builds being used. I played many tournaments in other games, especially FPS, and in order to maintain fair play between all players, these tournaments don't all the use of paid-for-weapons (equivalent of varium weapons), or the use of any privilige you have from leveling up, nor the special skills you got from leveling up, so in the end of the tournament no one will complain about why the others won. If such thing is going to happen in ED, believe me, there is no such thing a rank 1 vs. rank 80 that would be acceptable in this tournament, otherwise the winner is already known, even though both players will be seeking to use a-boss-based build to win the fight, and many will run for a dex TM build, but in the end ranks will make a difference. Luck factors also do make a difference, I mean even in normal PVPs, when you receive a crit and you already have 10 times more support than your opponent, you get angry, same happens when you deflect or get deflected, block or get blocked, etc... so in such battles that will probably define the winner, these luck factors will make some problems, because in the end the loser will always say, if he didn't crit his aux, and he didn't deflect my sidearm and etc... I don't think ED is made for such tournaments, the best tournaments are tournaments that are played between everyone vs everyone. Which is an idea I suggested already, whether it can be a war or a tournament, there will be a mini-war between legion factions to decide the best of them, same mini-war happens between exile factions and the best will be chosen, then the best 10 factions of exile and 10 best factions of legion will represent their alignements and enter a bigger war, what comes next follows the same system of old war, do PVPs, get a drop, win the war.
