The Guardian Tower

The Guardian Tower of BattleOn

Standing tall and watching over our beloved home, the town of Battleon is the Guardian Tower. It is a hall of justice where many of the world's greatest heroes come together to ensure the safety of our world. Within its walls, heroes train the the way of the Guardian-- taking challenges that test their skills and character. As their rank within the order grows, so does their access to things within the Guardian armory, library, stables, and... well, there are some parts of the Tower which are carefully kept secrets. For good reason, The Guardian Tower is a place of magic which was founded to protect the world from being taken over by invaders who would seek to conquer, enslave, or annihilate us. Should any seeking to do us harm learn what actually lies beneath the Guardian Tower, they would stop at nothing to get it, and to find a way to use it against us.

It is known that there are actually Eight Guardian Towers in the world. Each, found in the most remote and dangerous places in the world. As our story opens... communication will all of them has suddenly been lost.

After the countless invasions on the Town of Battleon, the Guardian Tower has been re-built and expanded with a sizable new structure behind the original towers. What could possibly require such a huge amount of space is beyond this author's imagination.

The rooms we know of include:

  • The main hall with the Book of Lore
  • The Guardian Armory
  • The Guardian Library
  • The Guardian Training/Danger Room
  • The Guardian Stables
  • The Guardian Council in the War room (2nd Floor)
  • HUGE Main Room towards the back (Unknown purpose)
  • Another Room (Unknown)
  • Rumors that there is a secret passage... but probably just a rumor.

    The Guardian Blade

A magical weapon forged with elemental dragon magic. A Guardian is bestowed his first sword, but must undergo quests to increase the magic weapons strength and powers.

    Developer's Notes

The Guardian Tower contains a bonus plot-line that runs parallel with AdventureQuest 3D's main story. Fans of the original AdventureQuest, as well as DragonFable and AQWorlds, will find it finally reveals the true secrets of the Guardian Towers and the Order itself. Also beware... The Seekers are monstrous horde of Guardian Hunters who are working towards a vile purpose that would effect all heroes of our world.

The original AdventureQuest was launched way back in 2002. The game was intended to just be free and fun for everyone in the world to enjoy. But the unexpected and highly explosively popularity of the game created bandwidth and server costs that I could not afford all by myself. The players who pitched into keep the game alive became our first Guardians. Just as the word "Guardian" reflects your role as a hero in-game, it also reflects your real-life role of protecting our game network and keeping the game online and growing. People who become Guardians... truly are Guardians of our games in both the online and real world. For this new game, AdventureQuest 3D, we choose to also use the term Guardians. I guess we should have called it "Guardians 3D" to differentiate-- but that does not sound as cool as just "GUARDIAN"

Those who answer the call of the Guardian and make the personal sacrifice to be granted access will find it a worthy cause.

    Guardian Tower Design!

In this game, the Guardian NPCs will not just be generic NPCs, but each will have their own personality, backstory and purpose.

The Guardian Tower has finally entered production. The art for the Tower's interior was completed a while ago, but we were waiting on game features to be completed so we could begin to assemble and code it. Yesterday, we had a "spark meeting" -- this is where Yergen, Cysero and I get together and do initial design. Today we are having a "campfire meeting" this is where we get the entire team together for about an hour so that everyone can add their unique ideas and creativity in too. Want to join us?

What else would you would like to see in the Tower?

OK, I said what else but you do not know a few of the things in the tower yet-- we definitely have a few surprises planned for you. But if you have some really fun ideas or things you think absolutely must be in the Tower, we would love to hear it! Comment in the section below. Battle on!

Regarding the image of The Seeker, that is definitely not it's 2003 art (save for it's little avartar). Why not simply show what it actually looked like, instead of trying to make it seem more detailed than it really was at the time?

As for ideas for the Guardian Tower, I'd like to see non-human Guardians in the tower, in addition to the human ones. This could add some truly unique interactions and dialogue between the NPCs, and each could provide us with insights on how they protect the various cultures of Lore. In addition to this, it could also be interesting if we were to be trained by all these different kinds of Guardians, as I would imagine each of them having something unique to add to our skills.

Because in a 3D game you need detail, and you also need new faces, or else its just going to suck.

@above: Assuming your post was a reply to mine (due to the wording), I was just commenting on how the image that claims to show The Seeker from 2003, is not actually showing what he looked like in 2003 (it shows a later version of him). I am not suggesting that AQ3D should focus on his design from over a decade ago, not did I even imply that.

In terms of your last statement however, it should be noted that you do not need good graphics to have a good game.

Add an NPC where you can start a Blade of Awe quest line that could lead all over the game map and take a long time to complete & should be one of the best weapons in game,
and when the level cap is increased add another Quest line to advance the Blade of Awe further, at some point during the Blade of Awe quest line another quest line opens up for the Silent Sentinels
on which you could do to retrieve some nice Sentinel armor, and if you are getting frustrated on the Blade of Awe quest line you could just switch between the 2.
    -
Also the ability to customize the Guardian armor and change the colors like in the original AQ.
    -
I like the idea of having different races as Guardians too, eventually after the game has been developed some more it would be nice to have the ability for a race-change
there could be an NPC mage in one of the tower rooms who you can purchase a 'token' or a potion from with the premium currency 'Dragon Coins' and when you 'use' the token/potion it
will change your race to the Race Token/Potion you purchased.
The races would of course have to fit in with the lore, and be able to wear the armors & weapons in-game. Just some basic examples could be, Drakel since they are going to be
added to the game eventually and could potentially have some good Drakels. Trolluks they are already in-game and could be pretty cool. And since the races would be a Dragon Coin
feature maybe give the race a small perk ? For example if you bought the Drakel race and then transformed into it you would have a constant active 2% magic damage buff, or if you
bought the Trolluk race and transformed into it you would have an active 2% physical damage buff.
And the mage would offer a free human token/potion in his store if you ever change your mind.
    -
A dragon-morph for Guardians only, obviously not a full size dragon but maybe a scaled down one.
    -
How about a guild hall in the tower, where Guardians can go to create their own guild which could act like a sub-Guardian faction.
I think it would also be cool if guilds had levels of their own,
For example: when you start a guild it starts at Level 1, and every time a clan member kills a MOB(monster), completes a quest/task,
finishes a dungeon, or does anything that earns character EXP they could also earn 'Guild Points' all of which obviously go towards the guild and then once the guild reaches enough points it levels up.
With each new level opening up new buffs or something for guild members ? For example, once a guild gets to Level 2 all members of the guild get an active 2% HP buff,
then at Level 3 they also get a 2% active Damage buff, and obviously with each level the better the rewards for the guild, with a maximum level of like 5-8

Well aware of that. I could care less if AQ3D was pixelated. I'd still play it.

Though what I mean was art for character detail should be made to make them distinct and unique, and by new faces I meant not recycling old characters/villains from past games, but adding in characters with new stories and backgrounds.

@Ninjaty: You know, more than that, it kind of bugs me that it's the original, generic Seeker, compared to a very specific MEMBER of Seekers.
