Burning Solstice part III - The Greatest Warrior I:
You have prevented War’s complete manifestation and given the Rider an explosive sendoff to boot, but the menace doesn’t seem quite over. His lieutenants, Carnage and Panic, retreated instead of simply disappearing. Are they now unbound, like Jalek was once defeated? Or are they fleeing to prepare for another attempt?

Greatest Warrior? Are they preparing someone to fight the Chosen?

Champion of Akriloth set can burn your enemies, I wonder what the Fire Realm set will do? Inflict Panic perhaps?

That title would seem to suggest so, yes. Not unlike the final quest of the basic Fighter class, which is based on a similar premise of finding the "greatest warrior."

That seems to be the obvious conclusion, but that's exactly what makes me doubt. After all, this is the same author who made a two-part saga about War coming back without a single war!

@Rafiq: I thought it was implied with the Zombie Axe Master set from Frostval 2012 that he was turned into a Zombie.

 Wasn't Frostval 2012 the one with the undead sweaters thingy? In that case he wouldn't be a zombie anymore~

Looking Forward to the continuation of this saga, War has always been one of my favorite villains in this game~

basically everyone thinks Zhilo is becoming the new host of Mayhem since a 'leaked' shade very strongly resembles his artwork


@Alice: I might be completely stupid but if the undead sweaters mean the Cozy Set... that was 2016. 2012 was Frigidere and turning ice based villains like NQ, Kabak and King Frost into zombies under his command. Including a zombie Chillax stomping face.

Based on the dialogue so far, it would seem that
spoiler:

Zhilo somehow stole power from Mayhem, and by extension from War, and has been in hiding out of fear of retaliation from War's minions. And he seems to have been aided by someone when he did this.

It seems we finally meet the elusive Watcher! Presuming it is him, of course, but all evidence points that way - the emphasis on providing instruction, not help; mentions of the how far he has to go to avoid gods and how his change will make even more gods angry; stressing the importance of free will.

Folks seem convinced that the shadowy figure is Zhilo, but I'm not entirely certain who that even is (help?). Can't say he's endearing himself to me, though. Self-entitled, arrogant and cowardly in equal measure, he stole a power he had no rights to, and then got cold feet when others noticed. I feel for the Watcher - incompetent underlings are the bane of every master plan.

Does this take place before or after the Civil War?

@Primate Murder: Zhilo the Axe Master is a VERY old character, one that hasn't appeared properly in a new release since before the Devourer Saga. His most notable appearances are as the final boss of the Fighter Class questline, and being nearly killed during Calladus's first appearance in "Twilly vs. Zorbak." The last reference to him was the Zombie Axe Master armor, which joked about his disappearance in its description.

I'm very excited to see him fleshed out more fully, since he never had any characterization beyond "wanting to be the strongest" prior to this.

I like these new enemies. Dual element attacks seem to becoming more common.

There is something watching in the background.

If your not a Beastmaster that new Gogg will be very troublesome.

Just bought a low level version of Zardnado. I tried to use the item upgrader on it, but couldn't since it doesn't show up. Is this intended?

 @Primate Murder As said above, Zhilo has basically 0 development so far.

Here is what he looks like (since the img in his NPC page is broken).

@kreizett Paintings can't be upgraded due to engine issues IIRC.

Thanks. In retrospect, I recognize him from Zorbak vs Twilly quest, but the fighter one was new.

Does that mean we can expect loads of axe puns?

Fire Realm Champion info subs are out.

Even though the MC effects on Fire Realm equipment are more straightforward, Akriloth Champion has a 44% against ice.

Making it the better choice if you want to use the FSB or the fire locked skill.

I can't decide which is better.

some tidbits for the new champion package

Weapon: does additional BTH against burnt foes

Armor: the FSB applies a perma burn on the opponent

Shield: takes less damage from burnt foes

so i don't know, i still feel the champion of akriloth is the better fire set, just because of the pseudo dual resist with ice/fire.
