    The Frostgale Set
    Secret of the Lost Tower

Location: BattleOn - Main Town » Mage Shop » Mastercraft Sets » Frostgale: Secret of the Lost Tower

«A green swirling portal emitting electricity appears on the left of the hallways where a table is toppled over on its side and a female human with ice horns stands inside of a blue tinted Guardian Tower»
???: Blind acceptance is undesirable to me, even when the knowledge I offer leads certain characters to accept unconditionally.
???: And I've been met with enough skepticism to be willing to make concessions. I can prove the nature of my intentions, Mistral, If you'll only-
Frostgale: If you would continue talking to me, I insist that you call me Frostgale.
???: Given your contrition, I assumed that you would prefer your own name, not one given in fear and anger.
Frostgale: You are what you do. A name earned is an honor or a mark.
Frostgale: Until my deeds no longer mark me, the name will continue to do so.
???: Who is it that really wears a mask, then? The man whose curse you sought? Or is it you?
Frostgale: That's rich coming from you, "Watcher".
    Watcher: Touche
Frostgale: And what's more relevant is that I bear this mark because of the kind of fate your 'vision' leads to.
Frostgale: Let's say I give you the benefit of the doubt. If you really are watching Lore from beyond time, you betray an ignorance of its past.
Frostgale: There was a time when magic was wilder, as you would have it. There were great heroes then, too.
Frostgale: The powers were always there, if fainter. Do you really think we were any better off? Do you think the Great Dragons were any better?
Frostgale: Calamity still struck in the end.

    *CRACK*

    Frostgale: ...We'll finish this later.

«Frostgale turns her head to the right»

«Starts as a blurred view that is refocused, you walk in from the left and stand in front of the ice wall with ice shards on top of the snow»
«You»: Oww… talk about coming on too strong when breaking the ice.
«You»: Looks like even the riders left me and bolted... Probably going for this tower they were talking about.

«Frostgale levitates in from the right and lands on the snow in front of You»
Frostgale: So this is where they breached.
Frostgale: You. You say raiders are moving for the Guardian Tower?
«You»: No, I said Riders. There's this gang with an ice dragon trying to act all cool and mighty-
    Frostgale: ...Was that a joke?
«You»: Not an intentional one, but- Who are you, anyways? I thought only Frost Titans lived north of here.
    Frostgale: ….
Frostgale: Don't follow this 'gang'. The North is no adventuring spot, and you should stay away from the Guardian Tower.
«You»: Wait, Guardian Tower? There was already one in the lost town?
«You»: Do you know about that, or the ice walls? I'm here in Warlic's stead, I was only here to investigate them.
    Frostgale: *Warlic*?
Frostgale: I see. I mean you no harm, either of you. But... keep out.
Frostgale: The North has nothing to offer you but old tragedies that he of all people should know better than pursue.

«Frostgale turns around to the right and levitates off»
    «You»: Wait!

«Two Frost Effigies walk in from the right»
«You»: ...You guys look as friendly as she was personable. Any chance you'll move? I've got an investigation to make.
«You»: And I don't trust Katabar or his gang. Either they're shady and need to be stopped for the greater good...
«You»: ...Or they're a little less than clever and need to be stopped for their good and my sanity.
«You»: No? Okay then. Nothing personal. Hopefully we can be cool after this.

«The front most Frost Effigy arches it's back preparing to attack»

    2 Battles: [link=URL]Frost Effigy[/link]

«Zooms in through the ice walls»

«You walk in from the left and stand on a path at the bottom of the snow covered mountains»
«You»: Rats, they kept me fighting here for so long that she got away. And this really isn't the kind of place you want to cause such a racket in.

    «Ice element sounds»
«You»: ...Somehow I miss the desert now.
      Stat
      Roll
      Avalanche!
Can you get away in time, or will you be swept down the mountain the rough way?

        If you fail the roll

      • Defy It!

        • Yes
You evade two hits from the avalanche that sweeps down the mountain
«You»: That could've been terrible. No wonder Katabar is working with WolfRiders. If anything can run for long enough to keep ahead of an avalanche, it's those guys.

        • No

      • Next

If you selected No, Next or lack the SP to defy it
You are hit by an avalanche that sweeps down the mountain for 16.66% of base Health points and inflicted with Ice Elemental Vulnerability for 99 rounds x125% modifier for two battles
«You»: Can't see... Argh, it got in my armor! I'm going to be sick even if I get out in time...

«Pans downward at the town with an blue tinted Guardian Tower»

    4 Battles from Monster Pool
Full Heal after #2 and #4 battles.

«You»: Whoa, that's a lot of Frost Titans running this way.
«You»: ...And not stopping. Or slowing down. Actually, they're going faster.
      Stat
      Roll
      Intimidation!

        If you fail the roll

      • Defy It!

«The three WolfRiders walks in from the right and stops in front of You»
«You»: You again! I'm surprised that lady with the big ice creatures didn't get you.
Baz: Oh, she got us alright. We got scattered and only now managed to get back together to look for Jonathan and the boss.
Baz: But at least we're getting back at these Frost Titans. How have you been?
«You»: Well, it hasn't been the smoothest-
Chaz: What are you making nice for?! Get her!
«You»: Wait, wait. Just hold on a second. I've been here before a lot, and you've got at least two brains between the three of you.
«You»: So let me walk you through how this is going to go.
«You»: I beat all four of you before, and you've got one less rider with you this time..
«You»: So I'll beat you even faster, feel sorry about giving more concussions to Baz here, and be on my way to finding out what this tower business is all about.
«You»: And it'll be even more humiliating because you keep coming at me one by one instead of fighting smart.
    Chaz: Oooh.
    Baz: That's right...
Kaz: She does have a point.
«You»: ...I just told you how to actually cause some trouble, didn't I.
    Kaz: Yep.
«You»: *sigh* Your boss is rubbing off on me.
    Baz: No hard feelings!

    Battle: [link=URL]Baz, Chaz and Kaz[/link]
    Full Heal

«You»: Let's make a deal. You guys pretend I didn't trip myself up like that, and I'll act like I didn't beat you worse grouped up than individually.
    Chaz, Baz & Kaz: DEAL.
«A green swirling portal emitting electricity appears on the left of the hallways where a table is toppled over on its side and a female human with ice horns stands inside of a blue tinted Guardian Tower»
Frostgale: That's completely illogical, especially for you. How can you know so much about Lore, and yet ignore the past that led it there?
Watcher: Because my vision requires studying multiple pasts, and multiple futures.
Frostgale: ...Multiple pasts? ...Okay, I'm starting to see where you're going. But it doesn't endear me to your work.
Frostgale: Your vision can just as easily lead to ruin, the same as what happened a thousand years ago.
Frostgale: There were others who grew corrupt before any lesser powers did.
Frostgale: Just because it takes more corrupt people for your ideal Lore to spiral down doesn't mean they won't persist until they succeed.
Watcher: I don't offer any guarantee that Lore would never fall to corruption if my plot is complete.
Watcher: What I do offer is a way to avert the NOTHINGNESS in your future if it stays its current course.
Watcher: One that by its very nature makes individuals proven to work against the good of continued existence unable to wield so much power.
Frostgale: You focus too much about key individuals. There have always been heroes and tyrants.
Frostgale: It's how you change the fate of the common people that decides the worth of your idea.
Watcher: Their lives would grow more difficult. I don't deny that. But more would have lives at all in the long run.
Frostgale: How? If you offer something so similar to what once went wrong, how would it lead to less death?
Watcher: The common people, Frostgale. Your isolation is... noble, but it leaves you too fixated on the distant past.
Watcher: How much of their present, or their recent history, have you been involved in?
Frostgale: Cut to the point and tell me the difference you see.
Frostgale: What could they possibly have now that the wars razing the west haven't taken away?
    Watcher: Hope.

«Zooms in at the snow covered path that leads to the Guardian Tower»

    4 Battles from Monster Pool
Full Heal after #2 and #4 battles.

«You walk in from the left to face Jonathan in front of the Guardian Tower»
Jonathan: Aw, greggplants. Of course you got here first.
Jonathan: We JUST managed to shake that ridiculous ice lady and sneak back over here.
Jonathan: Look, I know my friends aren't too bright, but could we just talk this out?
«You»: That depends on what you want.
Jonathan: Mostly I just want to avoid fighting and drawing her attention again.
Jonathan: Because anyone who can use ice powers to send an ICE DRAGON running? Yeah, I don't want any trouble with her.
Jonathan: So if you could just let us wrap up and get out of here...
«You»: You're keeping me talking by not saying what your boss is after.
«You»: I appreciate the cleverness, but whether or not I have to get through you depends on what that is.
Jonathan: We're sure there's some source of ancient dragon magic in this tower.
Jonathan: Boss says it's an artifact from the Great Ice Dragon, dating back to the elemental wars.
Jonathan: I can't tell you why he wants it, but I swear it's for a good cause!
«You»: Why can't you tell me?
Jonathan: Katabar… the boss is afraid someone will take advantage of that reason.
«You»: I want to believe you, but I've been fooled before.
«You»: I'm sorry... Jonathan, was it? But I can't just take you at your word. No hard feelings?
Jonathan: ...A little, honestly. But I understand. Let's just see how long I can keep you dancing.

    Battle: [link=URL]Jonathan[/link]
    Full Heal

«Katabar flies to the left, turns around to face the right, walks backwards and reappears on the right to face the left inside the Guardian Tower>>
Katabar: No, no, no! There's nothing here... And how can she herself be gone too?!
«You»: No more running, Katabar.. Please, just tell me what you're here for.
    Katabar: NOTHING!
Katabar: I came all this way for NOTHING!
Katabar: Whatever this woman learned my ancestor's magic from, whatever powers it, it isn't here!
Katabar: And now you're here to keep me from it too!
«You»: I'm not going to pretend that I'm not interested in ancient dragon magic, but stopping you specifically?
«You»: Only if you insist on hiding your purpose. We're going to have to figure out a way to trust each other on this one.
Katabar: No. I can't afford to.
Katabar: No more words. No more games.

    Battle: [link=URL]Katabar[/link]
    Full Heal

«Katabar lies defeated on the ground of the Guardian Tower»

«Frostgale levitates in from the right and lands in front of You»

    Frostgale: No more games indeed.
«You»: NOW you arrive. Look, I seriously don't want any trouble, miss...
Frostgale: All evidence to the contrary. I distinctly recall telling you to remain behind.
«You»: And posting your ice creatures to attack me if I didn't. I didn't pick a fight with you, I only defended myself.
Frostgale: A fair enough point. But let's say I assume you've been unreasonably pressed into battle at every turn on your way here.
    «You»: THANK YOU.
Frostgale: You are still not here idly. And I have ample reason to wish for people to leave this place, and myself, alone.
«You»: I only meant to investigate the walls, and then I got swept up in trying to find out if this guy's up to anything dangerous.
Frostgale: And you'll leave afterwards, even if you don't like the answers you find?
«You»: Well, I'm curious, sure, but I've been plodding through a LOT of snow. I feel like I've been losing digits by the hour.
«You»: So if everything's safe, I wouldn't mind only staying to warm my feet a little first. And take the chance to see if I've got any little piggies left.
Frostgale: ...That's it? I'm not sure I believe you. And frankly, I'm not sure I want to see that myself.
«You»: Oh, is that how it is. Are you lack-toes intolerant?
Frostgale: No. That wasn't funny. I refuse.
    Frostgale: *Snicker*
«You»: There we go, broke the ice without violence this time.
    Frostgale: …
    «Katabar's eyes open»
    Katabar: *Groan*
    «You»: Oh, you're still conscious?
    Katabar: Unfortunately.
«You»: That's good. I thought you were out cold.
    Frostgale: *SNERK*
Katabar: I would seriously eat you if I could right now.
«You»: I can keep going all day. Or you could just tell me what you're really up to here.

    «Katabar rises to its feet»
«You»: Jonathan swore up and down that your intentions are good. I'm not hurting you again without a good reason, and she just wants us gone.
    Katabar: ....
Katabar: My whole clan is sick. I sought help among other dragons, and even dracomancers, but Dragonspine was too busy with a war to lend any help.
«You»: Everyone but you is sick?
Katabar: It happened while I fought off the Dragonreavers. A wraith sapped their energy, one by one. From youngest to eldest, weakest to strongest.
«You»: So you didn't want it known because people might take advantage of their state.
Katabar: And when I couldn't get my hands on any powerful enough Ice Orbs, I thought I'd seek out the source of dragon magic hidden away in this tower.
Katabar: But I was wrong, There's nothing here. I don't know how you put those walls up...
Katabar: There is no artifact of a Great Ice Dragon's power here. Only a huntress bearing the name of one. Much as it pains me to admit, it's not undeserved.
«You»: It looks like we're both waling out of here empty-handed, but we can still find you help.
«You»: I'm here on a mission for Warlic, and I'm hopefully still on good terms with Cyrus. Between the two of them, I'm sure they'll figure something out.
Katabar: ...I fought you at every chance, and you would still give me hope?
«You»: If there's something we learned from The'Galin's coming, it's that Hope lives within. No sense in taking away yours.
    Katabar: I'm... overwhelmed. Thank you.
    Frostgale: ...Hope.
    «You»: What?
Frostgale: Perhaps I can help the two of you.
Frostgale: You, hero. You have proven me wrong. On what, I won't say just yet. But you do deserve a reward.
Frostgale: Katabar... I assume you were named after an ancestor. Your judgement was still keen.
Frostgale: But I didn't take the name of Frostgale. It was given to me when my kin and I were foolish enough to wage a war that mortals still recount with terror.
Katabar: But... How? You do wield the power, but you feel human. How have you never...
«You»: YOU are the Great Ice Dragon from a thousand years ago? Where have you been all this time?
Frostgale: I'm sure that raises more questions than it answers. For now, just know that I'm willing to help.
Frostgale: But I need time. I'll find you soon, Katabar. Take care of your people until then.
Frostgale: And you, hero... You've proven you can handle yourself. I can reward you accordingly.
Frostgale: But if you'd care to show me how much you can handle, I can share my strength with you as well.

    «Katabar rises to its feet»:
«You»: ... I wonder if Warlic is going to believe any of this the first time I tell him.
«You»: What will you do now?
Frostgale: As I said, I need time. I'm a huntress, and you've been fighting in my territory. I need to secure it again before I leave.
Frostgale: Those walls weren't simply meant to keep people away from the far North. There are more dangers here than even I know of.
Frostgale: The walls were meant to keep them IN.
«You»: That does sounds pretty important. Well, if you need help with that, it looks like you know where to find me.
    «You»: Goodbye for now, Frostgale.
Frostgale: Actually, «You»... Call me Mistral.

Frostgale: That's fair enough. Hopefully his awareness will help to keep people who would foolishly brave this land out of danger.
Frostgale: It will be some time before I've secured the region again.
