(Well, Sally befriending Mr.NL was slightly predictable, but what a twist to take on it.)

I've a feeling Remthalas wants to die. He did say now Nameless is free, and he wants us to help free all Maleorous... But I've a feeling freeing them will require fulfilling some requirement for each one before death (possibly with killing them afterwards). Something that they were missing (friends, for nameless).
Maybe simply being defeated in combat for Sinnocence.
Building on that, and on what we know of Kathool, Remthalas needs to sleep (possibly without dreaming) to be freed.

Calling it now so I can boast later.

On another note, Sally bursting with green energy for a friend's death and being put to sleep by an elf made me think Witcher 3 (battle of Kaer Morhen), which was cool.
