First of all, welcome back. Since you're rusty after a long hiatus, just reminding that this should be in Q&A, not GD. @Peachii's Chronicle of Releases, though it hasn't really been updated since end of May 2021, is a reliable timeline of releases. For monitoring storyline progression, the revamped Book of Lore of our character has a timeline function for both Books 1 and 3 (Book 1 has it too as the devs plan to streamline it once Book 3 is done).
EDIT: Since you've been out for a long while, stats have received major overhauls, so you might need to recalibrate your numbers. This page should do the trick in helping you know what each stat influences. Rest assured, the changes to stats still allow freedom for builds.
To answer your inquiry on AM and DM, Adventure only halves enemy base (starting) damage unless its a fight we are intended to lose or its an endgame battle, the latter of which are mostly found at the Inn at the Edge of Time. Doom can affect every battle and is just a renamed Hard Mode, which Verlyrus, our programmer dev, looks into during his free times.
