Alright, this is likely pointless but I wanted to talk about this specific item.

Backdrop- It was released and had an eat feature that so many like, but the status was fragile. Fragile was being looked into for an update, but time ran thin and so the plan for the pet remained. The problem was that when you eat fragile, it gives END back to the monsters and therefore, the monster actually heals.

In testing, w/o any extra pet boosts and vs a simple 100% Ice, eating fragile increased it's damage but not enough to out-damage the HP's gained back. In other words, the net result was negative damage. Not always, but close enough to make it a huge issue. This could actually be mitigated with pet boosting items, ele vulns, increasing ice resistance in other ways, and pet lucky strikes. However, it still made the effect far less optimal than intended.

So a redesign occurred.

The redesign simple allowed the pet attack SP. It's an Underwyrmling-like pet (not a clone, but very similar) But it's ice instead of fire, doesn't have disease, and eats fragile for increased damage.

After testing this version, it, has by many, been said that since underwyrmling's effect is considered good, this incarnation is fine. I beg to differ, and others also beg to differ.

The fragile eat effect is actually hindering the pet. It should be removed, or the pet needs a 3rd redesign. I prefer a redesign.

1. The fragile eat still heals the monster via lessening the fragile effect.
2. The SP attack is overkill, creating a situation that makes the "eat" feature actually undesireable because you can wipe out the SP bar w/o eating the status which means you're also not healing the monster.

The point of the pet mechanic is it's an eater pet. What it did with it, is the variable.

Like how staff reconfigured the cutlasses to maintain the niche, and like how staff changed Fae's to maintain it's intent also, I propose that staff rework the pet to keep the fragile eat which will still heal the monster, but do something different with it besides targeting SP.

So the compromise, and new direction:

Toggle 1 keeps the SP attack but it *doesn't* eat fragile. This is actually in-game the *preferred* way to go even with the ability to eat fragile. More damage targetting SP is silly.
Toggle 2-> I propose that the effect it needs to do is to do something with HP healing the player, since it is countered by HP healing the monster. So I propose something where the pet heals a % of damage done on this other mode, maybe 50%? And then if fragile is present, it eats it and gets the enhanced damage and and thus, HP heal to the player (which also heals the monster some)

To recap:

The pet has two modes:
1. SP attack mode, no status eating
2. HP heal mode. Lower damage for maybe 50% HP heal based on damage. Eat fragile for more damage, and thus more heal. Remember, the monster is healing when fragile is eaten.

I think this version would be better and actually give the eat effect a better idea than wasting it on SP that isn't there

Make the eat feature actually worth it. Currently, players are saying to avoid it.

The boss nukes/effects this prevents is worth the small return of hp due to the fragile reduction. Maybe the effect will fit better with the armor so for now I think criticism should be limited.

We will see, but high probability the armor won't have anything to do with the pet. In addition, it doesn't change the points I made and if using the armor with the pet somehow makes the pet not so utterly bad, and thus the pet sort of NEEDS the armor, that makes little sense. Ice protection using ice pet for damage isn't exactly synergy. Holding out for the armor likely does nothing to sway my opinion.

Armor's out and while it offers a fragile source, seems the pet effect will be unaffected. Still not a bad way for preventing an undesired SP attack. Hits more than underwyrmling.

Yeah the "more" part is wasted. And it heals monster HP in doing so. It's just baaaaaaaaaad.
