Book 3: Convergence - Hawk in the Sky
Hey there, heroes!

With new allies found in the Magesterium, the next step of action is clear. Jaania's airship must not be allowed to reach the Fissure. Book 3: Convergence continues this week as the battle for the Fissure begins...

Head over to Outpost Yeden to play the next chapter of Book 3's main story: Hawk in the Sky!

Also this week, some bugfixes and adjustments!
  • Fixed an issue where Baby and Toddler dragons would sometimes get more Bonus than intended.
  • Added notifications to Baby and Toddler dragon "Scout" and "Scales" effects.
  • Fixed an issue where some pets would have more Bonus than intended.
  • Fixed an issue where Fae would not return your name in the quest "Nature's Keeper".
  • Fae in "Nature's Keeper" now does damage scaling off of player level, and her Claws now count as a Scythe weapon type.
  • Fixed some tooltips with Base and Rage DragonLord.
  • Fixed an issue where Constant damage was affected by Damage Resistance.
  • Baltael's Aventails have had their names changed to differentiate between the different versions.

And that's all for this week!

I assume something is wrong with this steam tanks...

i mean, this think took a DmK Ultimate Attack and STILL instashot me from 2000 to a measly 63. AND it wiped out Altheon and Sepu...i mean, Amadeus. Something clearly is wrong with this things.

EDIT: TWO of them at ONCE? Thats it, i am out.

Did you factor in the effect of the 2nd action they use in their over 50% HP rotation as to why they can endure the blast of an Inner Darkness? Trashed the entire contingent with Archi on my first try, same case with WDL on my second run, although the latter had Adventure mode on (but it was a redundant gesture considering how it went. Had I played my way, I would've let my allies die because they're only liabilities).

My BDL was getting pretty good stun luck against their combined All+Immo so I never did get to study the tank's rotations in adequate detail. Personally, I'm thinking there's some sort of mechanic or trap connected to the seemingly token -1 Water they got.

"This entire plan is dependent on a... potato?"

"I'm sure the Magesters will do all they can to spare any potatoes."

I rofled pretty hard at that.

@^: I love how, even as we enter the Book 3 endgame, we can still get some quality moments of people being bewildered by Yix the gnotato.

Anyways, it looks like the ambush is proceeding very well but I'm expecting the other shoe to drop hard with the next quest. It's mildly disconcerting how we haven't found Akanthus's achilles heel yet, as I'm expecting that Jaania would just unravel herself with her scheme and thus leave him free to try doomnuking the core afterwards.
Jaania may have made herself rather unlikable by her foolishness and callous actions, but if I'll be honest? Akanthus the subversive smooth-talker is the one I've long regarded as being the greater of these two dangers.

It's all coming together now...

spoiler:

So it seems we'll be dealing with Jaania and Akanthus before Project Casca gets underway. That is IF we can deal with them. And hopefully save Yix while doing it... And without that setting off that Doom device... And even if everything goes smoothly, the Magisterium will be established again, which I'm guessing will be what kicks off the main conflict of Book 4. But let's not jump the gun.

Got to say I like the Rose's gnomish steamtank drip...even if I hate the fact they managed to get their hands on the tech to begin with

spoiler:

I do rather love that a lot of the background feels like an assault is taking place. Instead of us just having enemies in our way we can see the Magesterium's and the Rose's forces fighting each other all the while the Magesters are still firing at the airship. It's a nice touch.

Additionally, looks like our showdown with Jaania and Akanthus is about to be underway...I can almost taste the boss fights. Though it looks like we'll have to fight through a good chunk of Rose forces before we can get to them so perhaps we might be segueing into a war, another "war at the core" scenario if you will, from a gameplay perspective of course since we're already at war. Either way like others have mentioned we still have to find a way to actually harm Akanthus before they get closer to the Mana Core and since we're about to have a close confrontation I imagine we're going to find out what that is pretty soon. Furthermore, there is still Jaania herself who still very much wields powerful ice magic and probably isn't going to be afraid to use it against us once we intercept her...let's just hope she doesn't try pulling another hero sickle on us too quickly.

Also pleasantly surprised to see the vote of confidence in our skills from Circe. So far, she's been quite the team player. It's refreshing.

I'm also curious as to what Warlic is going to do once he confirms what Jaania's intentions truly are with the Core and whether or not it might involve consulting or examining Belle considering a decent chunk of Jaania's plan was altered after hearing what we claimed happened to Belle at the end of her story.

@Flabagast:
spoiler:

Remember that the root cause of how we came into conflict with the Magesterium was Jaania's push towards the fissure. In spite of this group's many societal flaws, their primary skirmish has been with her, not us. Neither the Kingdom of Greenguard nor the Shapeless Empire would have any legitimate case for further intercontinental hostilities after Jaania's big nose and Akanthus's silver tongue are removed from the picture.

So, no, I don't think they'd be the antagonistic force of Book 4. They consider the fissure in their sphere of influence, we don't claim it in ours and will have instead helped them defend it from Jaania and Akanthus both, and so we can just follow total mutual non-interference and go our separate ways when they reclaim Azaveyr and close the three remaining non-destroyed rifts.
