Friday, August 4, 2023 Arena at the Edge of Time: Willowshire Burns! Hey there, heroes! This week, a new challenge has appeared on the Dragon Challenges 2 board! Get ready to defend Willowshire once again from a pair of very angry green dragons! Gorgok, the Relentless, has returned once again to burn Willowshire to the ground! But meanwhile, it appears the one and only Guardian Dragon has been summoned... and he doesn't look too happy about that! These two dragons representing the Stone element are tearing down Willowshire (again)! Will you be the hero to stand up to them? Defeat them to reforge the legendary Lance of Awethur, which increases your Bonus based on your level, and then even more if your element is Stone! Head over to the Inn at the Edge of Time to take them down and save Willowshire (again)! Also this week, August seasonal items are here! The Atealan Standard helm is now available, along with a variety of other returning August seasonal items! Check them out in the green shops tab in the Book of Lore! Finally, some fix things:- Fixed a typo where DragonLord's Water Dragon Spirit was mispelled as Sprit.
- Aegis should now be summonable as long as you have unlocked Soulweaver, rather than requiring the class to be equipped.
- Fixed an issue where leaving a battle with a movement pad timer would cause the timer to increase in speed next tim you entered that battle.
And that's all for this week! EDIT: Looks like the devs have found their bearings on hardcore fights once more after the definitely ambitious quintet last month. After giving the new column a spin, including at least half a dozen failed duo attempts, my analysis of the fights are... spoiler:
On their own, the two green dragons are manageable without too much incident. As a duo, however, the feeling of barely winnable becomes quite apparent. I know this is supposed to be partly to demonstrate what he meant he was holding back when Guardian heroes spar with him, but Guardian Dragon feels too chonky that when coupled with a time attack foe pretty much puts too much pressure on do the right moveset or die. Doesn't help that his claw swing is a terror that it occurs right after an anti-shield attack gives TBWM flashbacks. Perhaps giving it the same conditional check used by Thorin and normal Suki would lessen the punishment would be a good start. Gorgok is a plain old beatstick. Nothing unusual as we've dealt with plenty of those before. However, his mega nuke being seemingly autohit might be over the top here when looking at all the mechanics involved.
