Hello, gamers!

I wanted to bring up the no-drop items, i.e. Steel Plate, Guardian Plate, Amour of Awe etc. Is there any actual reason for these items to still be locked at the top spot in the inventory? Is there a technical reason for this? Surely from a game-design perspective it would be far better to just let the player decide how to use all the 8 slots rather than artificially restricting us to only 7. While the no-drop items have been significantly buffed from before, their unwillingness to move out of the active inventory is still annoying for character-building. And some of the weapon specials (Guardian Dragon and PWD) are completely useless when facing boss monsters.

And yes I know that people have complained about this for decades at this point, but who am I to end such a long-standing tradition? And since the staff seem to be more willing to do radical changes to the game as of late, why not ask again?

This limitation isn't due to an unwillingness to move the no-drops, but because of a technical restriction caused by how the game's loading was originally set up to work. Past instances of being able to move those have resulted in some extreme bugs such as copies of the no-drop being added to the top slot until it completely filled up all slots. To address this would require a refactor of the 22 year old loading system.

Lorekeeper, if so, would it be possible to make an exception
in this case to compensate players 1 extra active slot which
would be the 9th active slot or other way to solve this issue
since players are forced to use the no-drop items while they are
not willing to accept it and have to sacrifice 1 active slot instead?

I think Bu Kek has a good suggestion. Just add one extra slot so we can use 8 freely.

Badly need the extra slot too. So tired of using compression on weapon, armor, and shield since time immemorial.

There's no 'just' adding a slot from our end, unfortunately. It would be nice, but major UI, menu functionality, and character data refactors, would all be big projects that we'd need to wait for Rhubarb's availability to tackle.

Lorekeeper, my apologies, just to be sure, we can expect,
you will forward this topic/issue to Captain Rhubarb, right?

No reply means Yes!

Thanks in advance.

Yes I fully understand that this is a job for Rhubarb and that it's not something we can expect tomorrow, I am mostly just trying to get the ball rolling here. Adding extra slots was at least possible for the Vamp/Werewolf armours (above the no-drop) so this should at least be possible to pull off even if it takes some (highly appreciated) effort.

Personally, outside of fixing game-breaking bugs, I think Rhubarb's time on AQ should be spent on the account merging he proposed, instead of stuff like this. Would be nice to finally have all the characters in one place, able to share resources and items with one another.

UI and functionality improvements are part of several topics for internal discussion, but I cannot make any promises about Rhubarb's availability as there are several unfinished projects that would be harder to complete if new ones were added.
