A splatter of crimson liquid falls to the floor, barely a stain on an already bloody field. Meat is cut in half and bones snap from the force of a blow, and one man collapses to the floor, dead. In his place stands another man, clad in all white armor. He wipes the blood off of his weapon and then points it forward.

“You’re next.”

A smile. The smile enlarges, forming a large grin. Then, the laughter starts. The cruel, evil laugh resonates across the battlefield. On the other side, a matching figure clad in all black stops exhaling, ceasing the terrible, wicked sound. This figure points his own sword at the first figure.

“Not this time, Darius White. You can’t win against me.”

Darius grins a little, taking a battle stance. Lightning strikes from above, and for a split second, he is distracted by the black clouds. White ones roll in from behind him and nullify the storm, a sign of the turn of the tides.

“That, I can, Sirius Black. I have not won yet, but I will.”

Sirius frowns, disliking the response. Not wanting to show weakness, he turns the frown around, and again breaks out laughing. He extends his arms out, welcoming an attack he knows won’t come, and leans back, fully devoured by his own sinister outbreak. Darius merely waits for him to finish, not wishing to strike an unprepared opponent.

“I’ve beaten you twenty times already. I admit that I am not invulnerable. You’ve defeated me five, at most. You can’t kill me, though I eventually will kill you. Why not just surrender now, give up?”

“Because I can’t. So many lives have been lost in this fighting. They’re counting on me to win for them. And also…because I have yet to fulfill my original objective. I will not stop fighting until you surrender, and I have what I desire, what I have suck since before we started this match.”

Sirius resumes his laugh, chuckling at Darius’s reasoning. After a good thirty seconds of laughing, he uprights himself, taking note at how Darius is still pointing his sword at him. Sirius matches the move, pointing his own longsword at Darius’s throat.

“Your arm will get tired, you know. No matter. I’ll kill you before then. Time to die, Sir White.”

The two charge. They raise their knees, bend their feet, and leap forward, then allow their foot to return to the ground and the process begins again. Within three seconds, they are right next to each other. Sirius arcs his back to the left and a little up, while Darius arcs his back to the right and down. With the combined force of their charge and the arc, the two swing their blades and meet half-way.

Darius pulls back and Sirius is on top of him again, lunging. Darius parries and attempts to hack at Sirius’s neck, who simply ducks the swing and punches Darius in the ribs. Darius goes down, but kicks at Sirius’s chest, sending him flying back a few feet. Darius puts his legs up, high in the air, and slams them to the ground with all of his momentum, stabilizing him to be perpendicular and not parallel to the ground.

Darius waits for a second while Sirius does the same, and then the exchange continues. Sirius lunges, and Darius blocks. He does a circular movement, and attempts to disarm Sirius. Sirius simple twists with the movement and hacks at Darius’s side. Darius dodges and counter-attacks, meeting the sting of metal as resistance.

Sirius gives a knee to Darius’s gut, and then punches Darius in the face. Darius falls to the ground and recovers quickly, but Sirius is already there. He attempts to block the incoming strike, and does feel the force of the blow. When he regains his footing, it is too late to avoid the lunge, and he takes a single blow.

Darius cries out in pain, defeated once more. His body emits a bright white glow, and then he vanishes in an explosion of light. Sirius is thrown back by the power of the explosion, and curses again.

“I failed to kill him.”

He moves over to the spot where the blow was delivered, and runs his left hand over it. He closes his eyes and concentrates, putting all of his energy into that hand, scanning over the white charred remains of the battlefield.

“Scanning for where he went to… Found him. Time to teleport.”

Sirius holds his hands out and pushes forward. Drawing from the energy in the ground, he focuses on the exact point he located the signature of the teleportation, his destination. A black haze surrounds him, and then a brilliant black light engulfs the area in an explosion matching that of his counter-part. And then, he is gone, off to fight his eternal foe once more.
