Outsmarting Bugs

The bit about landing a critical or applying a status is not true (or at least not entirely true) -- I've defused a bomb without doing either several times, and the warbear's body attack has resulted in a detonation once or twice. ~~The only factor as far as I can tell is real-life luck.~~

Maegwyn says there are in fact conditions that determine whether or not the bombs explode but what those are is a mystery for now (and it doesn't look like they can tell us what those are). It might have to do with damage dealt to the bomb, that would explain why people find that critical hits defuse the bombs consistently and why I defuse so many bombs with warbear.
