I just realized...The authors Ive been influenced by..Their books were written in a psuedo-documentary/first person narrative.
World war Z, Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, House of Leaves, Bobby Pendragon, Shadow over Innsmouth. It feels like Ive touched upon something rather profound but I havent quite put the thought into words. Can someone help me decipher what this means?

Can somebody tell me what else these stories/writers have in common?

Cristopher Paolini, Author of a series of books including Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr (and soon Inheritance, woot!)

I mean, there are so many other authors I could mention as well, but I really admire the world he has created and the way he accomplishes that. He's like a George Lucas in writing fantasy/adventure literature! His most outstanding technique is imagery. It's such a simple writng method, but Paolini utilizes it beautifully. Almost every sentence allows me to virtually 'see', 'touch', 'smell', taste', 'feel' or in general, sense each scene in every chapter of his books. I can tell he understands his characters and portrays their morals so vividly that readers must understand them as well. His works hold so much depth to me, and sentiment. For a young author, he has magnificent talent as a writer! I would read his stories over so many other Fantasy literature anyday - including those written by J.R.R. Tolkien. Truly inspirational.

Upon further consideration, I have come across a third major influence on my poetry, besides Poe and Wordsworth whom I mentioned earlier: Emily Dickinson.

Hmm, my answer if different, simply because I don't draw from one sorce, but rather from many.
For every story, I am influenced by a different show, game or story, for many time I love a tale so much I make a world of my own similar (with changes to make my own) to what I;ve seen, to further explore the setting, and to add thing I wished the original had done (main one I can think of are Teen Titans, yu-gi-oh, inkheart, and x-men)

but for style of writing, its more a gene then a particualar author. I love the stories of people overcoming impossible odds, going on quests, to achive a noble goal, and my writing mirrors this. The main books that come to mind are JRR Tolkin, Little Princess, Land of Elyon triology, and Two Princesses of Bamarre.

I have so many. But I'll name the best three, J.R. Tolkien, Christopher Paolini, and J.K. Rowling. But right now, as reading the Fable Haven Series it is also Brandon Mull. Just so many great books out there! After reading the Lord of the Rings series, I decided to write and become a famous author like the one's mentioned above.

G.K. Chesterton, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Leo Tolstoy, Edgar Allan Poe, Jules Verne, Victor Hugo

Ah... I love Old English so much (Not pre-1000 A.D. stuff, just the "non-modern version" like Pride and Prejudice)

If I talk comedy, there are way too many.

Professor John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. The author of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit - widely considered to be the father of modern fantasy. Professor Tolkien really was a genius - scholar, poet, philosopher, soldier, college professor, linguist (and a devoted family man) - Tolkien's works are largely what inspired me.

There is also another - whose name I cannot speak, other than the fact that she was a close friend - like a sister to me.

OH MY! What a question!
For me, my influences are widely varied. I think we all tend to take our writing styles from a number of diefferent influences, some we can really recognize, others that are more hidden.
Tolkien's usage of the epic edda the Voluspa is quite visible in a coming work, "The Twenty Fifth Rune", as I lean VERY heavily on the epic edda Havamal, as well as borrowing bits from the Voluspa and the Lay of Rig as well. I think he had an influence with me on the fantasy as well, as, indeed he has with MOST fantasy, even if indirectly, since the publication of The Hobbit.
Beyond that, Stephen King, H.P. Lovecraft (and thus, indirectly, Lord Dunsany) Micheal Moorcock, who's eternal champion saga is one of my favorites, Terry Pratchett, Isaac Asimov, Robert Lynn Aspirin, and Piers Anthony are the ones that spring immediately to mind.

Of course being me, I feel I need to include other writers who have had a more subtle influence on my writing, such as Niccolo Machiavelli, Frederich Wilhelm Neitzie, Dante, Homer, Shakespeare, and even the Marquis De Sade... there are so many places we draw our influences from that it's hardly possible to list them all.

I believe that authors Suzanne Collins, Eoin Colfer, Cassandra Clare Tamora Pierce and Kenneth Oppel were my favourite writers.

I love the dialogue from Tim Sale and Jeph Leob graphic novels (ever read Batman: Hush?).

Even the Bone series by Jeff Smith has the best paced humour next to the Artemis Fowl series by Colfer (his sarcasm continues to make me laugh out loud while reading).

I get inspired by books with a fantastic heroine.
My fictional role models who form not just my characters but myself over time:
Alanna of Tortall the lady knight (Tamora Pierce),
Beka Cooper the law(Tamora Pierce),
Holly Short the captain (Eoin Colfer),
Katniss Everdeen the huntress (Susan Collins),
Clary Fray the shadowhunter (Cassandra Clare),
and Kate de Vries the pilot (Kenneth Oppel) have really save their prince many times.
I recommend people to read their books to see some girl power and spunk.

The authors which amazed me with their first-point of view writing were Gennifer Choldenko (who wrote 'Al Capone does my shirts') and Suzanne Collins (Hunger Games).
I learn to put fast pace action in my writing by the adventurous novel writers Oppel, Pierce and Collins.

Oh and I forgot to mention Shakespeare with his amazing work, which continues to be in my opinion, a classics.
