This is a system almost everyone probably know. Depending on your post number, you have a title under your name (it replace member). I think this would encourage some people to post more. Any thoughts on this?

I don't think this is a good idea IMO as it would encourage spam, and nobody likes spam.

I've seen a lot of forums with this system and no one spam. It's not a prize, it's just something that i find quite fun. Instead of having the boring "member" title, we could have lots more...

I've seen a lot of forums with this that do have spam issues. I know for a fact that ours would (having watched people spam to get rid of the New Member title in the days that we had the most basic version of this). People do treat it as a prize.

To add on to what Chii said, these forums are more about quality than quantity. Special titles like Helpful! or Friendly! are awarded to those who consistently post in a manner befitting of the title. When a user is awarded a title, it is to show that they post in a way that is admirable, and to offer them to other forumites as something of a role model. Giving titles simply for number of posts would take away from the specialness that is granted to those who worked hard to earn title related to their helpfulness or friendliness. When people look up to those with titles as role models, the last thing we want to do is give them role models who may have simply spammed posts to get a title...

I sort of like this idea, but i think this will help: a set of mods/AKs that monitor peoples posts to be sure they are PROPER posts like this one. if it is just spam it isnt counted and once you get a certain amount of PROPER posts like this one you get the title: Post-Happy Forumer

I doubt that anyone would want to sort through all the posts someone makes. It consumes a huge amount of time, and besides, we do similar things when judging/recommending people for Helpful/Constructive/Creative/Friendly titles. People are awarded titles based off of their behavior and consistency, and they're supposed to serve as role models for other users. There's no reason to reward someone just for making a lot of posts.

I agree with Chii on this one
