Hmm there are several points I would like to see improved.

The main thing is that farming especially via the battle button on the main screeen is pretty boring. I would like to see a little bit of variation instead of fight monster x then fight monster y.
A little surprise like a random moglin-seller, a box of health portions or a mini-quest would easy the boredom there very quick.

An other thing is that we simply need more monsters. There are several new monsters in the last few releases like the harpies that would fit in in random battles very well.
Also some elements are vastly underpresented right now. Ice comes in the mind with 1 monster.

Also there are several weapons mainly those from the advanced-weaponry in the hangar that are in the pedia but still are not avaible.
That can get frustrating when you cheer for a fine weapon you saw in the pedia and then see oh that quest is not yet avaible.

In my opinion, the overall storyline, art, dialogue and quests have been really v. enjoyable.
If anyone likes AQ, then they would most likely have fun playing WF too.
More cross-over between the games would be good, if possible.

    Two issues occur to me:

    (1) players come to WF through AQ and as such, their AQ character will generally be their main focus. Quite a number of the WF players posting in this forum have level 136 AQ characters and therefore have more time for WF.

Possible solution: the staff know more about this than me, but maybe working on advertising the game independently so that more players join as Warpforcers first.

    (2) amount of content, that is, missions and weaponary. Naturally this will take time and is happening, but for a game to thrive I believe this aspect is essential.
I know it's easier said than done, but the bigger the releases the better.

Also, I think once the level cap is higher more AQ players will be interested. People like power!

perhaps making the monsters drop a tad more gold along with adding wfs first "mastercraft" set might help?

That will probably come with time, but yes, that would be a great improvement to the game.

I would say more quests for the low-level players so they dont get bored by the time they reach lv.50

that is exactly my point. i am quite new. i hit level 35 yesterday, done all the quest before hitting level 36. now another 10 levels of just grinding for only 3 more available quests? this is for me quite a dead point. i do not realy see any reason to go on leveling. i am thinking of just leaving my toon for half a year or so to wait till some more quests are there..

Now let us not forget, warp force is only updated once a month. Still, I do see a point in what you're saying. This is what I did when I began to play. I went to the level ten cap and then left it for several months and came back when there was some more content, and even now, I'm not playing it as much as AQ, I'm just waiting for it to catch up, and it will. We just need to be patient and know it's only got a once a month update.

It would be nice if they opened up Ballyhoo here, even as an extension of AQ.

Another war with a tally count would be good too, I want to see if I can run up over 1000 kills in the next one...

    Making magic weapons
getting rid of the level requirement for quest i stopped playing because you have to level up 9 times to go to the next quest.

Sunutsu, there exist Magic weapons - i.e., Dark Madder's Staff and the Staves in the newest release. It doesn't make sense for there to be too many Magic weapons, since this is space.

However, the level requirements ARE really annoying. They take AEONS to get up on.

It would be nice if more content were released to fill gaps. Both in terms of equipment and in terms of missions to help with leveling up without having to grind endlessly. Personally, I think having to grind more than two levels to access more missions is a bit much, though I'm willing to accept up to five given the relative youth of the game. Maybe it's time to introduce some planets other than Satiren for exploration.

In terms of equipment, for instance, there are five different series of energy guns, but:

    • there are no water or darkness element gauntlets
    • there is no wind tech (if you exclude Creation)
    • the highest level water tech is level 12 (if you exclude Creation)
    • there are only three summon-able guests, one of which comes from an armor and another of which has a max level of 40
    • the Commander's Arsenal taunts me, especially since the items therein are listed in the 'pedia, and when people ask for equipment suggestions, they are given items they can't access as options
    • there are currently four BM water pets but no BM light or ice pets (no single element ice pets at all)

I'm sure I've missed some equipment gaps, and I don't count the lack of magic weapons as a gap, as magic is supposed to be rare in space. Also, while it's not a gap exactly, I'd really love a misc item along the lines of the pet whistle from AQ.

I'm sure it doesn't help that the last few releases have only been one quest, about what I consider one week of AQ releases. I'm not saying that there need to be four quests released every month; I'd accept an item series (if it filled equipment gaps) in lieu of a quest. New items could be added to the Alteon shops, the shops at the end of existing quest, or after defeating certain monsters (like for Grabbi and some other monsters in AQ).

Did I mention that the fact that I can't yet access the Commander's Arsenal annoys me? I'm starting to think I'll be able to get the level 93 water gun from the WG shop before I'll get access to the Commander's Arsenal and the level 72 water gun it contains.

I dont know if this has been said but from time to time in the random battles the back-stage is very like to that of AQ I suggest that there should be more space like back-stage, like for example an space station or a planet full of ruins, or idk really but to improve the backgrounds

I wouldn't mind seeing some item variety. For example, wind weapons. There are only TWO melee wind weapons, the beam lances in which your stuck with until level 20 >_> and after that the sonic axe until level 86, the level cap. Now it's potential there are plenty of melee wind weapons out there, and the 'pedia just needs to be updated soon...

The problem is the level caps for quests. I don't want to be able to do 1 quest every 10 levels

The problem with that is, that they've only released certain equipment at said level. So even if you did a level 35 quest at level 20 there are no level 20 rewards, so it'd be a waste of your time.

Warpforce needs a large overhaul however if the staff are diligent enough, things can be fixed. The below are just some suggestions that I can think of however I suggest the staff also have serious internal on brainstorming more ideas for fixing the game (take note of the fact that the game needs fixing).

Remove level restrictions on main storyline quests
Grinding 5 levels just to play 1 quest, only having to grind *another* 5 levels to progress further does not warrant fun gameplay nor does is offer any strong incentive to continue playing. As a rule of thumb for game design, if something is restricted to a player, rather than play the game extensively to “unlock” it, in most instances, the player will most likely quit the game or ignore the feature, thus shortening the lifespan of the game. Locking out the core portion of the storyline/game in this fashion has worked against the game as a result.

    Prioritise plugging item gaps
Add more competitive items to the existing item stops in the game. There is currently a lack of choice and too much of a need to complete a quest in order to purchase an item. It becomes especially annoying at higher levels where one has to complete several quests just to refresh their inventory.

    Add more competitive Armours/Armour Variety
One of the big hooks of warpforce was the fact that the game uses post sweep balance standards and an extensive array of skills embedded in all armours Currently there is a lack of variety as far as armour choice is concerned (with the majority of armours being warrior based/containing warrior skills/recycled skills). I suggest adding more armours (including more mage/gunner based armours/armour skills).

Add Giftboxes and Frostvale quests to Warpforce
I see no reason why warpforce does not have any Frostvale giftboxes or Frostvale quests. The Frostvale sword and gun release of last year was fairly disappointing and the lack of a Frostvale quest gave the feeling that “Frostvale is present in every AE game, except WF”. WF appears to be a second thought as far as Frostvale is concerned (which is very sad IMO) and something needs to be done about this.

    Fix outstanding bugs
There are quite a few outstanding bugs in game that need to be squished. One such bug, the hair clipping issue with the warp trooper armour has been around for a year now. In general, I’ve noticed a lot of the graphic issue appear to be layering issues with hair/armours/gauntlets/weapons.

    Return of big monthly releases
The past few monthly releases have been somewhat shallow and to be honest, there have been weekly releases in other AE games that have been bigger. Small monthly releases work against the original premise and release promise of the game. The big monthly releases of the distant past need to return.

Actually, candy.man, we DID have a Frostval "release" last year. When this week's Newsletter comes, we will see if we get another one this year.

Return of big monthly releases: I agree here completely. The past two releases were... filler-ish. Of course, I can see that the Unaga quest was more like THREE quests, because of the insane branching, but it was still only "one" quest.

Level restrictions: Also agree. I WANNA SEE THE ENDING! :P

Item gaps/competitive armors: These will go away as WF ages.

Outstanding bugs: Yeah, huge numbers of these; these should be fixed, and will be, in time.

Thanks for your reply ArchMagus Orodalf. You raise some good points. I feel I should elaborate on some of my points as my post appears to only touch the surface level of things. My points are more along the lines of “this area needs a little extra focus” rather than “we need more of x now”.

I completely agree as waiting in due time pretty much solves everything. My comments only serve as a reminder and as player orientated feedback. Being patient for any such update is a given in an AE game and issues really only occur when the waiting period has stemmed too long.

My concerns come from the train of thought “what have WF has achieved in 2010”. 1 year is a long time and when one looks over everything and WF hasn’t achieved as much as I originally thought when I assessed all the releases for 2010.

My issue with armours is more to do with variety rather than quantity which is why I said competitive armours rather than armour quantity. A lot of the current armours/armour skills suffer from “clone syndrome” (pirate, rogue, ninja etc). A lot of the armours releases in 2010 have also been warrior leaning armours as well. In terms of usefulness, a lot of armour skills lose out in terms of usefulness to the gauntlet attack, techs, guests and miscs etc. Personally, I would like the introduction of more armours/armour skills with more diversity/strategic variety. The triggers on the Darkseeker armour is a good example of the strategic variety I’d like to see in WF. If I were of offer an additional suggestion to the WF team, it would be along the lines of, when you release an armour in WF, make it count!

My issues with item choice is more to do with adding more items to the shops rather than the quantity of items in WF as a whole. The WF shops are kinda barren at the moment and a lot of the previous releases have added new items to the end of a quest rather than to the shops (bar the odd token/guardian variant of existing quest items). I think something along the lines of adding a couple of new items to the WF shops each release for a few releases would easily resolve this small issue (as the shops only need a little extra fleshing out).

My issue with bugs is due to the fact that a lot of the bugs are fairly low level bugs yet it strikes me odd that some have been outstanding for over a year. I’d personally like to see a Miss Fixit/giant bug fix release in WF every now and again to prevent the bugs list from growing too large (because as the bugs list grows, the incentive for the team to tackle it shrinks).

LEGASP How dare you say that Pirate is a clone of Ninja!

In all seriousness, however, you are correct. They all have more or less the same skillsets, with a few exceptions - Cybertech has a nice summon, for example, with a Fire element spell that costs MANA. DarkSeeker has a nice trigger (though it barely works, since there aren't any other Vampires/Weres that we've seen-- only Undead, and even then... eh). And that Energy Shield that Heavy Gunner has is unique. Aside from these... eh.

Actually, I like have items at the ends of quests. Yes, it rather annoys me, sometimes, when I have to kill certain monsters, but it allows players to keep interesting in the game by refreshing their knowledge of storyline and by letting them enjoy forgotten jokes and puns.

    Bugs... yeah. I agree. :P

I’m a fan of the energy shield skill too. I’d personally like to see more buff/nerf skills seen through both the player and the monster (ALA mechquest). This would create a little more emphasis on strategy and lower the emphasis on min maxing dps and defence. This would also migrate WF further from AQ as a more tactical orientated RPG (which is currently sort of is IMO).

I like having items at the end of quests too (note: quest rewards = win). I just like having the ability to peruse through a shop and buy stuff as well. There should be a good balance of gold/tokens wasted in both shops and quests and adding a little extra stuff easily fixes this.

We really need to have more crossover with AQ.

Allowing our AQ characters into WF would be good.

    Crossover Wars would be nice.

More Story involving Novus for Warlics sake.
You can't just create a twin planet for Lore and then completely ignore it for three months!!!

    Houses for our WF characters.

Expansion of the MWP system into WF, our AQ kingdoms and armies are just sitting on Kairula being ignored.

    Ah, about Novus...

Actually, I have no idea about anything Novus-related because I'm only Level 66. :P I'm getting there. The other problem is that nobody posts Quest entries. However, the staff've said that their releasing intermediate-level content first, for those that aren't level 76 yet.

    Anyway.

Crossovers WOULD be nice. They WILL come, in time, especially since we're promised some epic confrontation that drains Lore's magic.

Houses... I don't see how that would work. Maybe we could buy moons? :P

Oh, wait: One more thing. I'd like a Pet Whistle-esque item in WF. I hate taking turns to switch Pets.

Personally I’d like some sort of feature/incentive for having dual AQ/WF guardian characters.

I’d imagine the criteria being something along the lines of both an AQ Guardian and WF Guardian character on the same account or having an AQ Guardian and Warp Guardian Account linked to the same Battleon Master account.

As for the functionality/incentive in question, I’m not too sure at this stage. I’d be disappointed if it was something small like an armour/weapon (for numerous obvious reasons). My ideas for this include:

    • Estate item.
    • Access to a quest.
    • Ability to summon a master crafted AQ Guardian/WF Guardian guest in the opposite game (example: Summoning a WF Guardian guest in AQ).

    Lord of Nightmares

This is probably just a rather petty nitpick, but I'm hoping for some improved character portraits. They're fine right now, but my female elf Striker looks a little too angry and Mad-at-the-Universe in general IMO and the artwork looks slightly less detailed as compared to the portraits in AQ, which is surprising since this is a more recent release/build.

The storyline's been great thus far so I don't have any issues with that, but what I'm hoping for is a little more variety in the minigames, such as having more puzzles during missions or such.

Oh yeah, and although I have a feeling that this will irk some players, I hope they do something about the level scaling for enemies in certain main missions. It's bad enough running into an opponent that's roughly 15-17 levels higher than my character, but 2 of them in succession is kinda overkill, although the rewards are great if you manage to win and it does pose a good challenge for those looking for one.
