Which do you prefer and why?

Personally, I like striker because they, in my opinion, get cooler-looking weapons. But, that's just me. What do you guys think?

I enjoy being a Striker. I am usually a Mage for RP reasons, but that just didn't look all that feasible in WF due to the lack of Magic in space, so I chose what I thought was the next-best option. I love smashing. :3

Constructive!

Eh, I don't play very much, but I would have to say striker. I may have had a love for rangers in AQ, but striker peeked my interest.

I, too, usually pick a Mage. Though since 'Mages' (Technicians) weren't/aren't exactly feasible (lack of magic weapons/techs, and no magic no-drop weapon), I went for a Gunner. I never really bothered with Ranged weaponry/builds in AQ, so I figured why not do that now?

Later on I did make a Striker as well and I must say I still like my Gunner best. Attacking with guns is a nice change and feels pretty neat. Shooting away at the enemy in a defensive armor Battlesuit and wacking them in the face when you're ''out of bullets''. :P

More than a Game

I like being a Striker. I don't really like how Gunners are more "slow-paced" than Strikers, if you know what I mean (just sitting there firing a weapon). I do however, have a Gunner character, and I do enjoy the versatility and the numerous different variants of the build there are. But being a Striker gets my vote.

I went the Mage route even though there is no explicit Mage build. I basically blast away at whatever target with the best skill tech, (usually my best Warp Crystal), then finish the monster off with the best gun for the target.

Of course my character was mostly developed to allow faster farming of the Haven circuit, very little endurance for a long fight, had to keep healing a lot to survive the Dark Madder fight, prolly would have done better with the best Space Astramorph at the time.....

I do wish there was a magic/tech based class (wow, lots of would-be mages playing WF), but I picked striker. Guns just aren't as awesome as swords.

You can still function as a "Mage" by being a Gunner, especially if you train a DEX-based Mage build (focusing on DEX/INT). One of my WF characters focuses on INT/LUK and trains DEX third, so he lags a little on gun damage, but the results are bearable... and his two Magic weapons work quite nicely.

That said, if you can only have one AQ character and one WF character, I'd recommend a Mage (probably BM variety) for AQ and a Striker for WF.
