As mentioned before, lots of topics in ED general discussion are just suggestions. When someone has an idea, they want to share it with everybody and know that it is getting the attention they want it to get. So i was thinking, why not have people rate a suggestion?

This would fix other problems that arise. With this feature in place, people would go through the suggestions and rate each one on how they like it (at least i know i would do this), and this way they would see what has been suggested and know not to suggest it again. In addition, when a thread is created on a suggestion, there are lots of posts that just say things like "i support" or "i disagree" which in my opinion are kind of a waste of a post.

This could also help the game developers out when deciding whether to implement a new idea or not. They simply look at the average rating of the idea and how many people rated it. This would stop a lot of the new ideas that get put into the game that turn out to be very disliked in the community.

(P.S. Although i am suggesting this for ED, it could be put into all the suggestion forums. I just mainly post about ED a lot and do not know how things are in the other forums for suggestions)

Exquisitely pathological

A similar system once existed for rating all posts with stars. It was removed due to objections over turning the forums into popularity contests.

On another note, popularity is rarely useful for measuring the feasibility of a suggestion. I'm certain many users would support a suggestion for giving away free varium, but such a suggestion is obviously not plausible.

What if after every update you could like it in the forums. This way the Devs could get a feel for how well liked the update was.

General opinions of releases can be (and are) drawn from Twitter, emails and forum posts. Proper channels through which constructive feedback can be submitted already exist. Merely being able to "Like" or "Dislike" an update is neither helpful to the devs, nor to users of these forums.
