Chapter 1
Jack wakes up, there's someone outside. A little scared girl looks at him from the outside of the bars, filled with fear and hate. She quickly disappears, leaving behind a box between the jail's bars. Jack stands up and takes the box... soup again. It's brown and smells so bad.
He doesn’t felt like eating. The nightmare haunted him again. Ironically, a nice dream for the other is a nightmare to him. Jack looks outside. It's the same old room, made by big stone. The green fire touches formed a hexagon on the ground light up the room. This place is so big and empty. His cage is hanged above the air, with ropes, chains and magic. The cage is made by some kind of black metal with only 1 small window, with a lot of bars. On the ground and cover all over the ceiling and wall are black bloods. Jack still remembers where they are from. From the window, he can see 1 door, old rusty door. It's so small and rusty that he never felt like escaping though.
He looks at the door... again and again. Image what outside. But he can't. 7 years. He can't remember anything. In his dream he sees sky, grass, tree, people... but they are just shallow. He knows tree but he can't image it. It drives him crazy every second. Such a curse, he wants to die. He's only 13, he has been jailed since 6. He knows nothing, he remembers nothing and there's nothing for him outside. He's a forbidden beast, caged, chained and he knows that. Jack can remember the day he destroyed everything, he saw fear and blood, the day he lost everything. He knows he must be here, for the better sake. He wants to avoid everything because he will destroy everything.
"Day 2556" Jack mumbles "Happy birthday". A weak smile.
He looks around. Nothing changes. He knows... but he wishes to be free... There's no life in this place... Same room, same soup, same days, same sound...
Jack looks. Then maybe after hours, he lies down to sleep. But he can't... there's something wrong? It's not because of the birthday. There's something wrong with the atmosphere. He can feel that the magic is messed.
And then a sound... from afar. The bumping sound, the sound of metal, screaming... He can't hear them clearly. Jack wakes up... illusion?
Then... more clearly than anything he has ever heard after all these years... footsteps. A lot of footsteps, metal sound, human voice. They head toward the door and stop suddenly. That must be the guard, but why?
"What's happening?" He screams but no reply.
Then he waits... tensed more than ever... there's something going on out there. Is this...
Then more bumping sound and weird "whiz" sound. Someone says "hold". And then "BAM"! That shocking sound hit him, or in fact, something hit all the guards outside, sent then through the door and scattered all around the room with rock, dust and broken metals. Jack skips toward to window to see but half of the room is covered in dust, he can't see anything.
And then... the dust fell, he sees nothing beside dozen of guards being knocked all over the floor.
What just happened? That's it? That makes no sense. Who did this?
Jack look at the guards, aimed with weapons, armor. None of them wake up. This is something out of his mind, like a bright light within the dark.
"Hey"
Jack nearly fell back, but jumped back to the corner of the room. He has never heard such close sound since. Something looks at him, hanging at the bars. It's not human...
Then a weird blue light sparks, the bar disappear. That creature jumps down the floor of the cage, looks at him. Jack looks at it too, surprisingly. It's...again, not human, but look alike. It's very tiny, only as high as his knee. It has turquoise soft fur. Its legs are short but thicker than usual. Its arms are smaller. The body seems very simple and not so long too. The head looks like a ball with a pointy short noise and 2 black eyes. Most amazingly, it has 2 very long ears which as long as it's body. It has a tail! That creature also has a thick black scarf with white fire at the end. The scarf is not big but still oversize compare to the creature, making it like a cloak covered its body. The creature look really cute and friendly, but somehow it seems clam and sharp than it look.
"Enough with the looking?" That thing asks with hasty voice.
Jack can't even start a words, but it waits, so finally he can talk "Who... what are you?"
"Umm... you mean I'm not human right? This form I am having can be called Moglin, one of many races... And my name is Katz"
Jack starts breathing normally again "What are you doing here?"
"Rescuing you, of course. We should go now."
Jack steps ahead then suddenly stops. He sits down, looking at his hand.
"What now?"
"I... I can't. It's not safe... for the other"
There are more sounds outside...
"Look... I know you are worry about your power. There's a way to prevent it..."
"WHAT?"
"... I come to rescue you because I also need your help. This is very important and I will force you to go if you don't want"
"What..."
"So are you coming or not?"
"You said you can stop that power?"
"Yep"
"Ok... I'm coming"
And then, they climb out of the cage with a rope appears from nowhere. Jack didn't care about such thing, he was worry about stepping outside, first for 7 years. Now, the cage seems even higher than ever and the familiar room seems so dangerous. Finally, he touches the ground. Maybe the weirdest feeling is the feeling of safe. It's not as dangerous as he first thought.
Now on the ground, the bodies of the guards looks bigger than from above. "Are they dead?" Jack ask nervously.
"No. But they won't bother us for a while. I don't like to kill"
"That's good" Jack says softly
They continue to walk out. It's a very long tuner with touches every steps. It cause a weird feeling of being watched. Along the way are many many knocked guards, some are plated, other are Mages.
"Wow, how can you defeat all these people" Jack asks surprisingly along the way.
"You killed thousand people, why ask? Mortal human are now weak. They never expected such attack here."
"Oh" A dark flashback crossed his mind "So what do you want from me? You expect something from my power?"
Katz jumps pass the bodies (that's a lot of Guards) and moves quickly. It took awhile for Katz to reply "I don't know... I expect that your power can be used for good. But it's risky. You should not concern about my purpose."
They are now going down. There are many other ways but Katz quickly goes ahead without a stop. Jack knows that it must have some ways to track the road. However, a lot of bodies lie along the way might help.
Jack felt a little disappointed. He's afraid of his own power and this mysterious Katz doesn't make it sound better. He couldn't stand such disaster like 7 years ago but more than anything, Jack wants to be free...
Then suddenly they get outside. The wind taps on their faces. They come out from a small temple, look more like a boring big black rock, what a jail. The sky is so dark, there's no star nor moon. He can't see anything because the light from inside only light up small part in front of the temple. There's no glass nor tree. However it seems that the temple is placed on a hill or mountain, he can see the edge in front and feel the space beyond. It feels so great here, Jack takes a deep breath.
"How can we get down?" Jack notice that Katz has stopped, he feels exited and charmed by the wind and the feeling of large space.
"That's not the biggest problem now" Katz answers calmly, but Jack noticed the change in its tone. Within the shadow, 2 figures appear.
The first one wears a very large and long mage robe. At first Jack thought it's black, but the robe is dark blue. Around it are some colorful trinkets. That guy has a long white hair, hide under it is the calm face.
The other guy has a very smiley face with short brown hair. He wears short green robe - only to his knee, and his trousers are green too he think. He wears big black boots with many weird metal trinkets around. On his back is a hammer.
They stand there, looking at them. Jack knows they are going to stop their run. Then suddenly, a while light appear from the blue mage, formed an orb of light and quickly fly high. Jack now can see where they are: a black rock temple on top of a mountain peak. Down there is a infinity black woods. There's no way down from this peak. The flat ground is kinda big so Jack expects a battle here, as they don't show up for no reason.
