The Rules of the AdventureQuest General Discussion Forum

  • All Universal Forum Rules relating to posting behavior apply!
These rules should be the first things you read when you join the forums. They apply everywhere; this means that any behavior prohibited by the Universal Rules is prohibited in this forum. This means no flaming, no trolling, no spamming your signature or emoticons, and no mentioning hacking. Period.

  • Game-related Discussion Only
The only topics to be made in this forum are those related to the game of AdventureQuest. As the name of the forum suggests, they should be of a general nature; check the rules threads of the other AdventureQuest forums to familiarize yourself with what goes where. For instance, most times you have questions about the game or would like advice for your character, you should use the AQ Q&A forum. If you need help defeating a monster or knowing which piece of equipment is better, AQ Comparison and Strategy is the place you should look. If you would like to suggest alterations or additions to the game, AQ Suggestions is for that purpose. Game-related discussion would also include discussion of topics found on the homepage or other AE-affiliated websites.

  • Duplicate Thread Postings
If a thread which discusses the topic you wish to create already exists, use the existing thread for discussion. Do not create a new thread that simply duplicates a previous one. Nor should you change the wording of your topic or the content of your first post to appear distinct from an existing thread. In addition, certain popular thread topics exist permanently for your use. The AQ General Discussion forum staff has tagged these threads so they are easily findable. You can find a list of these threads in the Ultimate Thread Directory. Threads discussing recent releases will also be tagged and should not be duplicated.

  • No Server Complaints
Complaints or issues regarding the server cap should not be made here, nor should complaints be made at all in accordance with the Universal Forum Rules. The server cap is in place for many reasons including, though not limited to, maintaining server stability.

  • No Spoilers
This is something mentioned in the Universal Rules that is overlooked often enough to warrant mention here as well. Spoiler tags must be used when you reveal information about recent releases.

  • Do not Respond to a Rule-Breaking Post
The proper course of action in this circumstance is to alert a member of the AQ General Discussion Forum Staff via PM. Check to be sure which ArchKnights are online before sending a PM to ensure the problem will be handled without delay.

  • Do not Use Official Tags in Thread Titles
These tags denote official threads and will be used only by the forum staff. Examples of this would include but not be limited to the following: =AQ= , =WF= , =AE= , =DF= , =MQ= , =AQW= , =ED= , =HS= or =Forum Member= tags.

  • Do not Respond to Dead Threads
Threads will be considered "dead" if there have been no posts for fourteen days. Please do not post simply to revive the thread; you may create a new thread with the same topic if you wish. However, if your post in a "dead" thread is especially thought-provoking and constructive it may be allowed at the discretion of the forum staff.

    quote:

    Constructive Criticism

  • What is it?
Constructive criticism is being able to process and offer your own thoughts and opinions in order to give courteous and friendly feedback. This is done by explaining what you like and dislike, while at the same time providing feedback that is useful. This is what separates constructive feedback from ranting/complaining and flaming.

  • Does it help? How?
Yes! Constructive criticism helps because not only are you giving feedback about what you don't like about a quest/event, but you're also giving feedback about what you DID like in the quest. Feedback could include on such topics as statistics, more dialogue, more explanatory cutscenes, more fights - everything that quests or events would normally include. This gives the game staff a better idea on future improvements.

  • Example of Constructive Criticism:
"I didn't partularly like this war because it felt too empty. To have made it better, I think the staff could have had a 50% cutscene to unlock rather than just a shop to progress the storyline. As it was, I personally was a little dissapointed that this war felt more rushed than previous wars, however I do understand that the staff had a lot on their plate when making this release.
That said, I greatly enjoyed the boss fight, the animations and art fit perfectly with the song that was playing in the background. So while not one of the best wars DF have done, I still enjoyed it. Thank you, DF staff!"

  • Example of Unconstructive Criticism:
"I didn't like this war at all. What were the staff thinking? The items in the shop were ugly, overpriced and were bugged!! No cutscene? That was never done before and it is not how it should be done ever. Seriously, doesn't the staff ever listen to us?! The boss fight was too hard and took forever to beat :( And there was no sound. I dont think the staff even care anymore. Best war ever /sarcasm I hate this game D:<!"
