Prologue

"Long ago the Threads of Anima were visible to all of creation. They were said to be crafted by Gaia itself on the Everloom. In this way Gaia supported it's first creation, Life.

Eventually Gaia found the need to create darkness. In time it spread, and the world was forced into creating light which created balance. These two elements became Gaia's second children.

Taking a liking to Life Gaia created a world for it to inhabit under a cycle of Light, and darkness that came to be called Day, and Night. On this world life took to forms that came to be known as Animals, Humans, Elves, and Dragons. The Dragons, which were unlike the other two races that could speak the common language, fled into the caverns of the world. The Elves took a liking to the forests, and built their society there ever honoring their creator Gaia. The humans ever adapting found the plains, and deserts to their liking, and lived there. Seeing the peace between races Gaia fell into a deep slumber, and let the races rule themselves. The everloom continued to fashion the creations, and reuse the threads that returned to it in it's masters absense.

Thousands of years passed, and the balance between the three races shifted towards the humans. The long living elves had stayed to the forests, and their numbers dwindled. The dragons started to fade from memory as the race died slowly. The humans had built great cities, and transportation, and had been the only one of the three races to spread thoroughly to the corners of the known land. The majority of humans had also lost the gift of The Threads. They could not see the Threads of Anima, and they didn't think it wise to mess with the threads where the Elves created an art of weaving them to create objects. A group of humans who had not lost the gift of seeing the Threads learned the art which was called Spellweaving. This group of humans became known as the Spellweavers, and kept the peace in human lands. Each Spellweaver became bound by the Threads which they wove."

The elder closed the book, and watched for our reactions. He often read this story for us, and most took it for fantasy because they could not see the threads. The few of us who could were ever engrossed in the prospect of becoming one of the legendary Spellweavers. I was one of the few who could see, and one of the even fewer who could touch them, but the elder told me long ago to keep it a secret. Why i had no idea, but when a man who's lived for over 300 years tells you something it's best to listen.

"Roran please return home, and take this package to your mother." The elder said tossing me a small brown bundle. For having a grey beard down to the ground, and a robe that made him look even older than he was, if that's possible, he was suprisingly agile.
