Personally, I’m curious as to why the Skillbar GUI (when ingame) is always in random order. I think it was during Beta that at least skills were in the correct order, usually heal would come first, then the corresponding skills. Now, everytime I go into a battle, I’m forced to actually look at where each skill went. I know, it’s not that hard to simply look, but every battle, it’s literally randomnated.

What do you think about the skill GUI? Should it be in order? Or random?

It honestly doesn't matter to me seeing as how I need to check what I'm gonna use every battle

It was made to prevent botting, as well as the captchas.

THough with the captchas the random skills seem...pointless, and slow down mah farmin! RAWR!

or the captchas be pointless as we have skill being random.

and captchas IMO waste more time than selecting skills.

Can me please remove captcha with the promise of an anti-macroing and anti-hacking measure programs? I don't play ED to play "Captcha, type in the key to continue playing!"

@green And how do you propose that system work? If there was a better way than Captchas then I'm pretty sure most websites wouldn't require you to enter them to register with them.

Code:

If this line of code is not within parameters, read the player's memory. Altered character data, then bam.

How does that prevent botting? The only thing botting does is make your mouse click in a certain spot for you in a certain order. They already have anti hack procedures in place. Several hackers get insta-banned if they so much as move when they are hacking.

You can't bot. If you remove captcha, you still can't bot. The skills are in random order, anyone that attempts to bot will probably have a really low %. Unless they manage to specify which skills to be used.

@dungeon Strength build. All you need is Strike and Gun. Those two don't ever move around in their location.

Lol? You can't win by just strike and gun. You have to use double strike, frenzy, cheap shot, etc. Anyone that Marie's strike and gun will have like a 50-60% record.

@dungeon Regardless, you still can bot. Ratio does not matter in this game. There is no reward for best ratio. The leaderboards all deal with having the most of something. Botting is used for getting wins without having to put in all the effort of playing.

I don't want to be rude, but this topic is kind of getting off-hand.

@hyped Not really. You asked why the skills are random and we answered. And now we just happen discussing why they are still necessary to randomize even with the Captcha.

Sorry, if I misinterpreted your answers (unfortunately).

I'm guessing the devs should keep captchas...
but remove the random skills.

Captchas can still be gotten around but not by the bot. You just have to check in on the game once in awhile to enter any Captchas that pop up and you can start botting again. I don't see any beneficial reason to removing the randomization to skills because that greatly sets back botting attempts and even if there was a better way, chances are it would annoy more players than it does now. As it stands, this was the first time this topic has been brought up since the randomization was implemented.

As much as I want to see captchas go, it won't happen. Bots can easily be created to only "strike" and "bot" which is never randomized. Therefore skill randomization is useless, and should be removed (imho).

Trust me, random skill order doesn't prevent bots whatsoever. Ever seen a vindictus bot? They use pixel detection to tell what is on the screen and where it is regardless of position, to allow for multiple resolution support.

I agree with ND.

The battle captchas are the only thing stopping bots,

It would not be hard to make a bot set up to NPC strike gun etc. then brainwash.....

The last thing we want is this game being ruined by a bombardement of botters who bot thier way to lvl 34 with 100% ratios... which intern forces others to do the same or suffer looking insuperioir to the rest, similar to what NPCers make other players do now.

They need both because as people already said there is way to bypass both of them (yes even captchas).

I don't get why dudes keep questioning features that are already fully developed and perfected and start complaining about the elephant in the roon (the real problems).

As the others have answered is battle captcha, and the skills placed randomly, to prevent autoclick/botting. I hate captcha, yet it is necessery to prevent botting. Since there is programs that "recognize" pixels is there ways to botting without battle captcha.

The random skill bar was implemented to prevent using a program to farm wins, also known as "botting"

However, now it is nothing other than an inconvenience, as battle captures already handle this problem.

Idea to replace captcha... if people are constantly performing the same action (1 v 1 or 2 v 2), check to see if their mouse movement is irregular or fixed in its positioning. If it remains robotic in appearance, mark the player down as a red zone.
