I haven't been around as long as many of the older players but I have been around for the nerfs made since frostland war and after. While some of these balance problems have been due to actual balance problems the most of them the nerfs I have seen have been due to OP builds due to many enhancements.

Before you try to bark on me hear me out. From what I remember reading an hearing from the older players Enhancements were only given on 2 out of the four items in beta. I also remember reading that it wasn't nowhere near as bad for non variums because there wasn't as many enhancement points around to throw off balance. However for whatever reason it was the staff decided to add extra enhancements to the other items giving them up to sometimes 13-15 extra stats on top of a possible 20 which is 33-35 which is the equal of 8-9 extra levels in stat points.

Worse to wear enhancements were never fair for non variums either as the prices were skyrocket high for them not to mention they didn't get nearly as many stats as Varium players. Because of this happening even if they were at the same level a level 35 non varium player without enhancements facing the same level of player with a fully enhanced varium player would truly be facing a level 43-44 just because of the extra enhancement points.

With this happening no wonder the staff couldn't get accurate balance readings. As I stated before while some were legit balance problems such as the infernal android moves that would normally be balanced if the player where even or near even were supercharged due to all these extra stats. Especially all those extreme strength, tank, Etc builds. As a result the player who were having trouble complained about a certain build, the staff see this class is OP and boom the nerfing process started which IMO was the downfall of all builds.

Even with all DSF that was put into play Players with these enhancements only needed to go to the max point without penalty, and use enhancements to do the rest without problem unless it was health.

Now if enhancements for credit players were anywhere near as quick as it is with Varium players the wouldn't have been so bad, but due to all these extra stats, and non variums being unable to afford them as well as keep up with variums the downfall of balance began and the nerfs process happened.

TL:DR Too many Enhancements plus non varium being unable to get when as easily as varium players could caused a lot of the balance issues in the game as well as caused a lot of nerfs.

Ok Deisel:
On Beta They never implemented enhancements, it all started in the gamma phase, When Only 2 Pieces of equipment could be enhanced, beta weps had 10 slots and the others wep had mostly 4-5 slots max, then they added Frostbane with 10 enhances and founder armor with 10 enhances, and after that all the 4 pieces of equipment could be enhanced, and time after they started giving the weps a max of 8-10 enhances.
And yes, beta was more balanced for non variums because the devs didnt implemented enhancements back then.

Just a heads up, the way the stats scaled was also different. And... many of the non-varium items wasn't as great as it is now. So i wouldn't really believe on that gap being shorter during beta.

But your concerns are right: if varium will be indeed quicker to get fast enchantments, the number of varium with enchantments will also be high. My hope would be if, the amount needed for full enchantments is humanly possible.

you can never have balance in a pvp game. As long as there is a first turn advantage balance is just an illusion. Give you an example: dex multi blood mage vs focus bounty. Bounty starts first does max emp blood mage got 5 energy left. Mage has 3 choices quit the match or gun like noob or waste 28 credits on energy booster. Bounty uses max smoke. Blood mage what? Now my strike is useless... Next 2 hits bounty win.
You can never have balance unless all classes have the same skills. Meaning an unblockable energy drain. Equally powerful debuff etc. Then again is the first turn advantage.
I have been playing this for ages. Back in gamma and beta the best non var build was play a merc and do a 2by2 fight on a support build. This way the crit on aux and rage multi that ignored armour could compensate for the extra stats on the var player. But with the greed of enhancement slowly players like new hope quit as there wasnt hope for non var anymore. My other post shows how 50$ equals 25000 1on1 wins. It takes over a year for 25000 wins and there is on way any non var can compete. If your looking at destruct rage videos. Your just looking at a few edited lucky wins Where He starts the battle first and ends up getting lucky with blocks and deflect. He has just posted 30 wins from over 3000 fights. So yeah with omega i guess the player base would increase if they introduce equal opportunity game play. But my hopes are set at 1% cause i already see omega weapons given out like freebies. peace

Imo, a whole bunch of non-varium items were better back then than it they are now. I remember I bought varium at around lvl 8 or so, and got beta weapons and founder armor. A few levels later I bought Mjolnir and used that for a loooooong time.
Caden's Wrath was also a very popular item not just for non-varium players, but varium players aswell. But support was "the thing" for Mages back in beta so Caden's Wrath wasnt as good as Mjolnir was for Mercs

Today, I would never even think of buying a non-varium item and use that.

i have seen the game develop and evolve since the start, and i have the same thought as mother1 and that thought is: enhancements are the biggest mistake that the devs have made!! me and mother1 get varium/enhancements just to not be punching bags of varium players anymore, so yeah enhancements caused the most trouble.
