So, I've been going around the forums and didn't like the useless and negative comments that were not constructive about Omega. I made this thread so we can all piece our thoughts together in this thread to be constructive specifically on strength builds.

So far, we know a couple of reasons why strength builds are abusive.

1) The way each move scales per skill level is not with the Omega standards. This also includes moves such as Plasma Bolt, Bunker Buster, and other casting moves. Strength moves include Bludgeon, Massacre, and etc.

2) Strength is too efficient. It works with so many moves and strike, the most basic move with no cooldown already scales with strength. Damage from strength points probably needs more required stat points to increase it such as make strength have to occasionally use 6 points to increase damage.

3) Defenses scale too slow.

4) Moves that increase with dexterity are not good enough. Technology is fine with moves that improve with it.

5) Nerfers such as smokescreen and malfunction probably should have a reduced strike effect that comes with it. 100% base damage already is unfair compared to shields since it's another reason why strength abusers can Rage so fast. Perhaps 50% is best.

6) Maybe give moves like intimidate and malfunction a one-turn warmup.

7) Base Energy is WAAAAY TOO HIGH. I recommend bringing it back to the Delta base energy for all classes.

8) What are some reasons why you think strength abusers are so strong?

I agree with most of those points,

Except intimidate getting a warm up, why would yo give that skill a warm up turn one, when that is a major defense against STR builds. Because it stops them before they get a chance to attack.

The reason strength abusers do so well...

EVERY turn they take is make more powerful by strength. Take the Merc class for example. Do a Bunker build and you get a nice high damage bunker, but only every few turns, but then ur next turn you got nothing. The powr moves require mana, which can run out, and have cooldowns. While the strength guy's moves keep pummeling you every single time he goes.

EVERY move in this game that increses damage by stength should be comepletely removed. Strength is already the skill in itself.

Maybe these strength moves instead can base its damage only from your weapon damage without the strength.

Example:

16-20 +35

Berzerker Lvl 1 (+27%)

35*1.27= outcome damage

Strength has NO effect on these type of moves but I recommend they have a strengh requirement so it does not get abused by support builds.


Now obviously, these are just numbers that can be adjusted...

That would only be 45 damage which is lower than the damage range so that wouldn't work.
In the first post you said dexterity needs a buff, why not make sidearms 75% strength and 25% dexterity then?
Another solution to weaken strength is to make it weaken rage:
Over 60 total strength: -5% rage gain, rage ignores 40% defense instead of 45%
Over 70 total strength: -7% rage gain, rage ignores 35% defense instead of 45%
Over 80 total strength: -10% rage gain, rage ignores 30% defense instead of 45%
Over 90 total strength: -12% rage gain, rage ignores 25% defense instead of 45%

So a merc with 27-33 str and a maxed weapon walks in a 2v2 match.

He gets paired up with a merc support build with 26-32 aux and max blood commander and low def/res.

Said support build gets first turn due to support and gives str merc a 70*+ bonus to str.

Roided str merc with 34-41* str uses double strike while other victims scream "Kill it!!! KILL IT WITH FIRE!

It hits and victim dies a swift death as the merc slyly proclaim "Where's Titan now?"

A turn later, roided merc uses berzerk, one-hitting victim, then says "Weak noob"

The hell.

Strength builds are very good, but not OP. They just seem op, cuase no one knows a good counter build, that is good.

My tactical merc's build is a 5-focus tech build.
I also have Energy shot (takes away about 13 energy) and atomic smash.
If im fighting someone that uses the skills berserker, or massacre as their main attack, i use energy shot. once they've gotten the energy down far enough. And if the use generator,i use atomic smash.
(i either aux with 3% chanve stun on first round, or deadly frenzy, depending on their build.) After I get rid of their energy, i surgical strike, or heal. if i use surgical strike, i usually heal afterward to bring my hp back to full.
From there on i either, generator, or use aux and gun until my rage for robo.

Its a very complex build that takes strategy, but i love it.

Intersting idea though.

I'm just pointing out many different solutions for weakening str for balance.

If they nerfed stength, the game could be played how it should be.

Why do strikes cause as much damage as special attacks like bunker buster, plasma cannon or plasma bolt/rain, asimilation, fire ball, meteor/artillery strikes etc.??

The reason there's so few creative builds any more is because strength trumps them. We hate having too much loss ratio, so what do we do? We do a strength build too to be competitive.

With the new battle engine, the developers are in a position to vastly change things. They can now add new skills very quickly based on existing ones. Maybe they can create lots of new special atacks so each class has it's own, then greatly lower strength. The majority of hits from strikes will do a fraction of the damage they do now, and only the special atacks will deal heavy damage.

The game would become more strategic, the builds and battles would be more fun and creative, and victories won't be all based on strength or luck.

I think that's how they imagined it in the beginning, but things went awry somewhere along the way.

Mr. Black Op has the best idea so far. But i think we need to stop worrying about Merc because they are getting a nerf this week anyways

I'm a Level 30 Tech Mage and i face a lot of level 35 Mercs and Tactical Mercs as well as Blood Mages. I am non varium and i think this is unfair to a lot of non vars. The combination of strength, double strike, and berserker, and chairman's fury armor is way too OP. Not all non variums are very good. i think that base energy should be lowered, and strength builds should be watered down

The major defense against a STR build is "BLOCK". While other players complain about high % BLOCK. -_-.
