I'm not a big fan of AQW dragons myself. They always did look odd to me.

Yeah you're right. That was more of a quest and I could definitely see them continuing with it. I could actually care less for the Orc vs Ogre thing. I don't like neither of them but that is just me.

I would actually like to see more "rare" creatures. We have the "rare beasts", I want to see maybe something like the "rare dragons" or the "rare voids". A set of characters that were infamous like the rare beasts. I always did like that challenge. Oh how I miss hunting for Cosoma . . .good times. I got a special satisfaction from completing the set.

Going to step in here and say that this thread is for suggesting new features or adding changes to new ones. Sadly there will always be a time that Nulgath decides to reward SG buyers or players who have been here longer than others. The number of times there have been releases that have been for both players is quite large, as well as releases for free players only. One F2P release brought out some of the greatest monsters in the game(Cosoma, Poison Drake) and several others gave us X-Mas Elf and some other strong characters completely free AND requiring no effort but to log in to get them. Some of the very best characters in this game don't cost a single SG to get if you're persistent. You can bring up difficulty of catching and encountering a character, but if the Time Gentleman was in a shop and cost 10 SGs, a free player would have even less chance of ever getting him compared to uber rare and hard to possess. F2P games can only exist because of paying players so naturally they get better stuff and recognition. Any other online game out there would throw out table scraps once in awhile to draw in new people and to at least pretend they care about ALL their customers. But OS and AE in general is different. Some of the very best characters are completely free to use, albeit hard to find.

And with that, I'm sad to say we can't continue this conversation as it's very close to becoming a huge mess. Not to mention it's already a free vs paying players argument which are usually outright banned in other forum sections because the community can't handle themselves. I understand you're worried about the balance of free and SG content, but have faith in Nulgath. He's done great so far, and with Sage in charge of decks I can guarantee that the free characters will continue to be strong, if not stronger than some SG characters.

Hm. Me like. I agree, rewarding those who participate in the funding of this game is necessary. But dedication of an entire release to only "rare" characters and pure SG characters is uncalled for. You'll notice that SG buyers can also access "releases for free players only," thus eliminating it as something which is unattainable by any part of the community during the one release. As I have said, vehemently, might I add, I'm not doing this in the hope of a more strong free-to-play characters. I acknowledge that they exist, and have never argued or questioned their insertions into this game. Refer to my "zombie" point. Time Gentleman was a reply to Did's point for that post, but I like I said, I completely agree with having more free characters in the game, but it isn't a part of the point I am currently trying to make. In regards to the F2P nature of this game, I have suggested numerous ways for the developers to potentially maximize micro-transaction purchases, none of which, would be the dedication of an entire release with grave implications, such as the anniversary of the game itself, to rare characters which were mostly free and capture-able. It's because AE cares that I'm even posting on this thread. Continual consumer appraisals are a good way on which for games to improve themselves. Potentially even gaining more funding. (See my previous posts on motivation and pseudo-public relations).

Again, it has nothing to do with the qualities of the actual characters. What I want, specifically, is the acknowledgement of free players on important dates such as the game's own anniversary; I think that Nulgath should reward both the SG buyers in whichever release he deems worthy, but not for events like this, with such heavy significance.

Edit: Didn't quite see the next part.

What's the purpose of a forum, other than discussion? As long as I don't mention free vs paying, I have broken no rules that you have mentioned, and it was never a part of my original proposal.

This was never about free vs paying players. Ever. I'm not sure what made you think that, but I have never actually explicitly mentioned it; perhaps as an aside, but nothing more. This is about the way a release of things which focused on rare characters and completely alienated a considerable amount of the current player base, on it's birthday no less. And they were mostly free too. I'm not sure where you're coming from with this.

@Jmagic: Remember the time when elemental Nomads were the ''new fad.'' . . . .They were like collectibles! Lol! Shadow Nomad and Ice Nomad. . .so hard to encounter/possess.

More rare creatures huh. Hmm. But for that to happen, I sort of wish that the map would be either more organized, or held more hidden dungeons and spots such as Water Grotto, Undead Dungeon, OrkFort, Ogre, etc.

How about creatures/items/cards/artifacts where you have to solve puzzles/riddles to get? Such as, when you're exploring the map, you find a letter or something. On it is scribbled some riddles. It will lead to another location.
Once you find that location successfully, another clue, and so on. Then you get to battle the Riddle Monster dude, or you find an Artifact, card, or something. It can even lead you to Swindle, to spin the wheel once.

And you can start the letter-chain by either finding it from just exploring the ground, or defeating a Treasure chest.

The ones you find on the ground are much more uncommon than the ones you find elsewhere, and are usually marked by the Nulgath Badge thing. This one has a higher chance (5% in total) to lead to Swindle! :)
However, they also have a decent chance to lead you to . .. A TRAP! The Riddle Monster. . or whatever you want to make it as.

The 2nd most rare would be the one you find from Treasure Chest drops. They usually have a higher chance for cards, better artifacts, and of course Swindle (2% total chance).

As for the most commonly found card, the ones that drop from Monsters, can usually lead you to a ''stash'' or hidden spot. The stashes would include gold, and some lesser artifacts. Rarely, it will hold cards
This letter has no chance to lead to Swindle.

These letters overall would be a very difficult drop, and only the best of the best can get to Swindle. . . possibly....

The thing about these letters would that in order to start it, you'll have to first open the letter. Once you open it, it will give you a riddle. However, reader beware. You will have only a limited amount of time
to get from riddle/clue to riddle/clue. If you cannot find the next hint within the time limit, the letter disappears. Remember, the timer will only start once you open it.

For the ''stash,'' the items depend on what element the character that dropped the letter was. So for example, a Water character would have a stash that would go in favor with water elements, etc.

Id like to see a large portal for oversoul like you have for aqw and aq. It would allow larger portions of the map to display and give you more space for detailing. I'd gladly pay 5 acs or so per month for that service, you could unlock it for charactors who've bought 400 or so like you do with the reaper/dragon/pact, you could make it make it a one-time fee with sg's or just straight rom the portal.

Lastly, the one i'd like best, you could have it unlock by buying a hero-mart item. Maybe a t-shirt with an oversized oversoul logo which is too big to fit on the shirt, so the sides of the image would be cut off.

@KingOfClubs: So you mean like a realm only SG buyers can access or something? o-o
Logically as a F2P I wouldn't like that idea. . . .Lmfao. xD
If there's going to be new portions of the map, I think I'd like it to be available to everyone. :P Not just SG Buyers, or as you said, 5 ACs (I'm sure you meant SGs) every month or so- that's sort of like Membership.

Perhaps in the future, the portal separating Oversoul and Lore will open again. . . ? Lel. That'd be interesting.

As someone with acces to Soul Gems, I would not want a SG only realm or whatever is being suggested nor monthly membership.

Membership!? *shudders*

I'd rather have SG only releases than Member only releases. Speaking of member only releases, AQW is having one next week. One more reason to stay away from that game. Thanks Oversoul, Nulgath is Kind. LOL.

I am against that idea about monthly membership. Despite I am a SG user, I still don't like that kind of monthly membership system. AQW was the perfect example and 99% of the stuff/items were always members or ACs. There is no limit at all and its always rare, rare and rare items. OS is an improved version of AQW where despite tons of characters cost SG, but most were not permanent rare which is really great. Nulgath is the game developer and he is kind, thoughtful, reasonable and fair.

This is an idea for a new contest. Ok you see, Nulgath would release a random character into Oversoul. We don't know what it is, the only preview of it is a silhouette. So if we find it, it'll be quite a surprise. :D
But it has an insanely low chance for encounter and possession- not to mention that it is VERY tough to beat.

Chance for encounter -> Super low, like down to the ground low. Lower than Gentleman, maybe 1% or 2% chance or something.
Chance for possession -> Super low, like down to the ground low. Lower than. . .. lower than low. Maybe 15% chance or something.
Difficulty -> Difficult! (May want to read about my Phase-Monsters idea I posted in the ''What Would you like to see?'' topic.)

So this contest will be last for 1 month. The first person to encounter, kill, and possess it successfully wins the contest! He/she will receive a reward, the character will be taken out of his/her inventory,
and the contest will restart after a few months (1~3).

The reward could be a temporary Title, a special card, some Gold, etc.

WARNING: Soulgem Capture will NOT work 100% on this thing. It will only raise the chance of possession by 15% more.

I'm up for the idea, but I suggest a few alterations:

1: The chance for Possesion should be much lower then 15%. If this is supposed to be a challenge, I suggest 0.001% chance to find AND possess. a 15% posses chance is too high for something of this nature.

2: ...Why not make the prize the character in question? A cool one of a kind char would be cool. To prevent too much hate for getting a unique char maybe combine this with the Variant idea earlier, like say a gold DrakonDrago or something.

3: Either make the SG a 100% chance like normal, or make it so you can't use SG AT ALL on this char. I don't normally want to spend SG for a CHANCE of getting something. Even with the random card decks you are guaranteed to get 5 cards.

@MegaKyle:

1. Ok then! But if it's that rare, then I think the contest should be changed so that the contest only ends when someone has successfully encountered, defeated, and possessed it. And I guess
that would skip the tedious work of having to switch the character, etc. Less work -> More game -> Community happy?! :D -thumbs up-

2. Yeah, it shouldn't be a new character entirely, just a variant like how you said about the re-colored Golden Darkon Drago. OOOOH!
This reminds me of Shiny Pokémon! Excellent idea Megakyle! BRILLIANT. They could be recolored to show people that it's not just any character. :)

3. Yeah, then Soulgems shouldn't be able to work at all then.

(I still think my Phase-Battles idea would go well with this. . .I think e.e)

(EDIT): Hey Megakyle, remember when Darkon Drago was first being made? Apparently, wasn't there another version of it? The purple/black one made by someone else? Perhaps that could be the reward! :)
That artwork wasn't bad, so why not make use of it instead of letting it go to waste? Right?

Edit (#2)

Man, I just realized why this farming is so agonizing and pointless. We keep killing the AI's, over and over and over and over. It's annoying as hell!

I think Oversoul needs to have some in-game instant-message Chat box. .. . like go on your friends list, click ''chat request'' with an online friend, and a little box will appear and you can
instant-chat and crap WITHOUT having to be in the same lobby. That means we can talk and keep contact with each other WHILE farming and it would stop boringness drastically.

(The chatbox would still exist on the screen even when you're battling an AI of course)

Personally I'd love to talk with in-game friends while farming, Oh we can team up and give each other hints on which spots, and alert each other if we find one, etc. . . .

Currently we're just brainlessly pressing ''Explore'' and doing the same routine over and over again. . . .Someone should post this on ''What would you like to see'' that is, if Devs ever check that topic. .

Because while you're farming, really it's sort of pointless if you can't talk with anyone, etc. Which is also the reason why I do NOT play Dragonfable, AQ classic, etc. It needs to let me communicate with
someone real, it brings in much more fun to the game. Ah yes, the raging, the joy of finally completing something. . .. I think Juggernaut Quest in AQW took me like 6 months. . .agonizing months. . but finally
did it since I farmed with FRIENDS. I tolerate Epic Duel because of the fact that they let us talk in-battle. . . . which is so funny when the other person starts a flame-war. . .

P.S: I think EpicDuel has this idea right? The chatbox. . .

Here's my idea for DidYouKnowThat battle phases idea:

Maybe, just maybe when a monster change to a certain phases, we would need to change character to adapt to a combat situation. For example, when a dragon switch to a flying phases, we would need to change character that could attack flying enemies? Or maybe when a enemy switch phases, the environment would also be affected? Also I think that when a enemy change phases, his/her elemental resistance would change? This would make the battle involve more strategy when facing the enemy.

Also, I have an idea for hunting characters. Most hunt would be search character until found with different possession rate. Instead, why not one in a while have a character that involve puzzle to find? The puzzle would range from easy to hard. Maybe have multiple location for clues, leading to the final clue and having us facing the final enemy and possess him/her. This would make hunting characters more interesting, instead of finding the char itself. However this doesn't always have to apply to all character, only to a certain character.

Any opinion?
