Originally primary weapons and Swords were supposed to have perks and drawback to each.

With Primary weapons the perk was you could use any move on your skill tree, while the drawback was you had less stats and damage compared to swords.

For swords it was the complete opposite. Meaning you got more damage and stats in exchange for giving up certain moves on your skill tree.

For a while this was working and both items were balanced.

However due to the numerous balance changes in not only requirements but changes to certain moves Primary's weapons took many indirect nerfs while Swords got many indirect buffs. As a result of this swords have little to no drawback to them due to the moves they can't use not being worth using where as using any kind of primary weapon put you at a double disadvantage.

In the original topic I suggested we either remove the extra damage swords gave or the extra stats so that the advantage they gave would still be there but not as overwealming however now I believe doing the opposite would be better.

I other words buffing primary weapons so that they get the 5 extra stats. This way swords will still have their edge with the 10 extra damage, while Primaries weapons get the buff they need to still remain useful.

I'm saying this because if Swords stats/damage = CSW stats/damage, swords will become useless since you can use more swords with your CSW.

Yet, balancers are ignoring this because they know it will cause them more "balance problems", sure it might variety, which is the worst nightmare of ED balancers, but it would also trigger some balance
problems, for instance, if it would be more appealing for X class to use its CSW, it might result in skill tree problems, as swords give a quasi-totality usage of the skill tree while CSW gives full usage of the
skill tree, so apparently while using swords, there are less skills being used therefore less balance "problems".

i think every skill should be able to be used with or without a sword

The moment they do that is the moment everyone and will drop primary weapons and go 100% without fail to swords because with this you completely removed the one drawback to swords without doing anything for primaries.
