I don't know if you guys remember during late Delta, when the NPC Rabblefroth, made a question on what's your favorite game console and one of the options if I remember correctly like "Xbox 360, Game console", "Web Browser", etc. Well I'm suggesting for the NPC to make questions about possible implementations, like allowing the Epicduel players to make a vote on a certain importation

Example, let's say the NPC asked something like "Would you love to see a return of battle tokens", and there to be 3 options. 1st, Yes. 2nd, No. 3rd, Artichokes. And let's say that 50% vote were on "Yes", 40% voted on "No", and 10% voted on "Artichokes". Then it gets implemented

Each player gets to vote, but the number of votes on the phase achievements and varium packages you've bought:
Formula: Phase Achievements + Varium Packages Bought = Total votes on one subject

Phase Achievement:
Alpha Tester - 5 votes
Beta Tester - 4 votes
Gamma Tester - 3 votes
Delta Knight - 2 votes
Omega Overlors - 1 vote

Varium Packages:
1 vote/Varium Packages On Present and Past on the same character

I don't think certain people should count for multiple votes, especially not 1 vote per varium package

Rather, I think votes should just have a filtering feature to see which type of players vote a certain way. That way we can see their influence without directly impacting the poll and making it misleading. Here's an example:

POLL: Add new "Y" class?
100 votes
70 yes
30 no

Of players who voted yes:
13 have bought varium
10 are Alpha testers
20 Beta Testers
40 are Omega Overlords

Of the players who voted no:
30 players have bought varium
10 are Beta Testers
15 are Gamma Testers
5 are Delta Knights

100% of Alpha Testers who voted want a new class
30.2% of players who bought varium want a new class
67% of Beta Testers want a new class
etc.

You'd think that in a democracy everyone would get equal amount of votes. Also, I have like 8 beta alts (and others have more), what is your solution to that?

Giving people more votes based off of how long their account has been in ED can end up leading to a lot of votes weighed heavily in favor of people with several alts from alpha/beta, as 8x has mentioned. IF multiple votes were to be given, it would have to be based off of playtime instead.

I think that they should be filtered like Dual Thrusters said except instead of based off of what phase the account joined the game, it should be based off of how many non-npc wins a player has. More weight should be put on people who have actually played the game a lot and clearly understand how the battle mechanics work for balance changes than those who either haven't played much at all or just end up losing a lot because they don't understand how stuff in the game works.

@Dual Thrusters @Exploding Penguin @8x I think that a possible solution to that problem would be add a level requirement to avoid abuse of the system. Like for example, let's say that the whole thread could just apply to levels 31-40 with a few restrictions. Levels 30 and below have only one vote per IP Address. While Levels 31-35 get only half of the votes, let's say that one has a total of "X" votes (according to the thread) but you divide it into 2, so you would end up with X/2= (Y) Total of votes for Levels 31-34. While levels 35 and higher get all votes "X" and the whole thread applies to them. These restrictions would prevent players with alts abuse the system. I know this isn't really a democracy and it's more like a "dictatorship" to people who have bought varium, have played before omega, and are higher than level 35.

Now for the time that they've played according to play time I haven't really thought of that one before making this thread. But at the same time I don't think players who've played only Omega and never played any of the previous phases should be given the same voting rights as people from previous phases since most probably have never experienced any of the old battle mechanisms or have knowledge of how the game used to be balanced and how certain skills were different compared to the current ones

It still doesn't change the fact that these polls are extremely misleading. The only reason to give people multiple votes instead of just putting something like a filter would be to make it seem as if most of the ED community wants a certain suggestion implemented. Plus, why is varium even a factor? Imo, high level f2p players are as skilled if not more skilled than varium players no matter the phase (RIP Destrurage).

This really isn't as big as an impact as you might think it is. Playing as a BH with max bloodlust in Delta is not that relevant if the poll was "Reduce the energy given by Battery Backup?" Being a Delta player myself, I don't think that it is reasonable for me to count as twice the player as an Omega Overlord who has 20k wins and a 97% ratio.

Restricting the votes to higher leveled players again, takes democracy out of it. What if I told you that most of my alts are above the restricted level? Also, there are plenty IP hiding programs out there that might be able to trick the IP restriction.

Imo, if it was up to me. I would limit the votes to people who've been a member of the forums for a year prior to each question that calls for voting.

There are a lot of intelligent players with good opinions though that avoid the forums though because they don't like the community too much or for some other reason.

Likewise there is also many dimwitted forum users, and as x8 has stated multiple times which seems to be getting ignored. If you limit anyone's vote it's not a democracy.

What's described here is an oligarchy

From wikipedia:
quote:

"Oligarchy (from Greek ὀoλιγαρχία (oligarkhía); from ὀoλίγος (olígos), meaning "few", and ἄaρχω (arkho), meaning "to rule or to command")[1][2][3] is a form of power structure in which power effectively rests with a small number of people. These people might be distinguished by nobility, wealth, family ties, education or corporate, religious or military control. "

You'd be putting all the power in the hands of the older and wealthier players. ('murica!)

@Dual Thrusters varium should be a factor mostly because Varium has started to lose it's value after the release of omega due to the fact most items acquired a Credit option, and personally I feel that Varium players should have a greater voice (vote) towards certain suggustions mostly because they contribute money to this game, because without them, this game wouldn't have any money in circulation. Knowing that buying more varium gives you more votes, I believe that it would convince some players (not all) to buy more varium (if they're willing to pay money). I also believe that people regardless of since they played or if they're varium or non-varium, but have a great battle record should have a greater voice also.

8x That's why I said that the whole thread applies to everyone above Level 31, while lower levels have only one vote. Plus I don't think anybody has more than 3 Level 40's that I know of, because I don't think someones really going to spend more than 100 hours just to get three characters to Level 40. Tbh I don't know how to answer a straight forward answer to that question

@Cyber Dream I would kind of disagree with that since there's always intelligent people that been on the forums for so long.

@Exploding Penguin I know right. I've seen a lot of people who avoid the forums but yet I've heard great suggustions from them on the past

@Safaou @Xenderan I know it's not a Democracy I even said it was ''dictatorship" with the oldest and varium players ruling

There are a couple of problem with this from both sides.

1. Player will only have a choice between things the developers have chosen. This won't bring any more real community interaction or get the devs in touch with their game any more.
2. A system like this only provides insight on how to keep your current amount of paying players. The goal is to get free players to pay, which you can't do if existing paying players are just voting for things they want, even if it's bad for the game or doesn't help bring in more paying players in any way.

Getting insight into what free players want allows you to design those systems in a way that encourages them to become paid players.
Separating the votes to see which portion are free & paid would make a lot of sense, but only for the developers to see. Players shouldn't have access to this data.
