Pfft hahaha!

Just a thought for future wars, why not make these competitions based on the same principles as how you buy titles from wars?
Simply reach x amount of wins to get the desired item.

This way it's clear for all participants what is to be achieved.

I am aware that it may kill the competitive spirit for some, but in all fairness AQ has never been designed as a competitive game and that's what makes it unique.

A different idea, if wars are kept competitive- if a position is tied, give each player a dud custom item named "1/Xth of $warPrize", where X is the number of players who tied. So for example, if 5 people tied for position #20, all 5 would receive an item named "1/5th of $warPrize" that does nothing. It recognizes the effort that was put into a tie and gives them an unique reward- arguably more unique than the actual reskin- while not causing conflicts with players lower than the tied rank- #21 and lower in the example given would still receive their rewards normally, for instance.

Very much a fan of @.*. .*. .*.'s idea, would give more people the chance to grab the goal.

I honestly like the current system with 1 reward for 1000 kills, another for top 50 and another for top 25~

It creates a bigger sense of competition, and while we do have a Warmonger's Discord to get the competitive spirit going, it's nice to have some extra rewards on top of that~

Wouldn't mind the items moving towards just pure wins myself personally sure it might make things a bit less rare but it would clear up any issues with top kill counts even if how the gear goes out isn't changed that much compared how it is if it made to be a high percentage.

While the matter has been addressed to an extents I have to post I guess. I have been letting a LOT slide guys, a lot. I was hoping I wouldn't have to post, I have my limits. I have let people voice opinions in rough manners, I have let them out right complain, I have let them get their discontent across. More than a few posts I could warn for, I have not till now. I will NOT stand for personal attacks on the staff. Complain, ideally constructively but I don't want to see someone called out for actually trying to communicate and discuss things. While the topic might be winding down, know my patience is at an end. It only takes one to go too far~afterlifex

While I didn't post too much on the matter and wasn't directly involved with the tie, I did look through the whole process through both this forum discussion and through the warmonger's discord... Not only since the beginning of the discussion, but since the beginning of the war, the reaction to the sudden increase in mob count, the suggestion of a tie, and the effort to get more and more people to join it which ended up leading to this troublesome situation... So uhn... While I wasn't directly involved, I certainly felt the mood of a considerably chunk of the playerbase very well throughout this entire ordeal.

And I must say that while there was a fair amount of bad feelings towards it, the response most people had to how the issue was handled was mostly positive IMHO. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that expected radio silence to come once the complaints started raining and also expected to see nothing come of this at all.

I can't say how happy I was to be proved wrong on both sides, the discussion with Cray was by no means perfect, but the fact we did have a back and forth with opinions being debated was really something that felt... Uhn... Productive maybe? I'm not sure what the right word to this is, but... The fact that we were not only being heard, but actively being replied to was honestly amazing. AQ's staff frequently interacts with us, which is something I'm very grateful for and that makes me much more engaged to this community than many others... However, as far as memory serves me (I could be wrong though! >.<), when issues arrive that puts the playerbase in an antagonistic position to staff, we were mostly faced with silence and no changes in instance or resolution...

Seeing this situation being averted and having a conversation was already incredibly healthy IMHO, and having our wishes answered and the people in the tie properly rewarded was absolutely astounding and made me and many others very very happy with both the outcome, and the fact our words were actually listened to, that the time spent talking and articulating replies was actually taken into account and taken into consideration by staff.

So uhn... The point of this post is mainly to say... While this issue was a pretty troublesome one and that had a lot of complicated feelings involved in it, I and many others of the playerbase were really happy in how the staff-player interaction was handled this time. And while I, of course, don't think player complaints will be addressed every single time we end up having a disagreement with staff members, seeing them actively being debated and taken into consideration, until an official final reply came to the matter, was definitely something that made me very happy.

To close it up, this was a troublesome matter, but I'm pretty sure the playerbase is very happy with the resolution, and hopefully staff is too. It would be nice if we could end this in a high note... And let's pray this kind of tense disagreement doesn't happen again any time soon, nobody likes having those after all... >.>

Wait, that's not how I should be closing it up, I didn't touch the crux of the matter yet, I digressed too much! >.<

The point is, I think the issue was handled very well on staff's side and I really liked the overall discussion even if the topic was heavy. I think it's important we remember this is a vast improvement over how some issues were handled in the past (I'm pretty sure a lot of people can start badmouthing a certain staff member that is no longer in the team and how he handled players in the past if they want to, right? We definitely had nothing like that this time around), so just like the staff respected us and took our opinions into account, I think we should also try to take a step back, look at things from staff's point of view a bit, and make sure to respect them as both developers of the game we love, and also as people that are as entitled to their own opinion as we are to ours. Making sure the discussion is respectful by both sides should be a basic.

And uhn... If I am to be perfectly honest, never in my mind would I have expected staff to not know the ties that happened previous to this one were not engineered, rather, I think every single person that was organizing in the tie believed that staff was aware all ties were being engineered and we thought staff condoned it... So... I guess I'd like to apologize for the whole thing?

Again, I was not directly involved with the tie nor was I engineering it myself, but the feeling around was that we were not doing something bad, but that we were doing something great and incredible. We thought we were doing something the staff were okay with, and now we're well aware the staff is not, so... I'd like to apologize, it was certainly not the intent to try gimping the system or to disrespect the good faith that were shown, we really just wanted to get more people to experience an exclusive reward many people were very hyped about. We had good intentions while doing something we thought was okay, and now we know it's not, I think apologizing for it is the minimum we should do.

Geez, this went on for far too long, I need to learn to make shorter posts when I try to express my thoughts on things... (I know this is the first super long post I make here, but I use other forums, okay!? This is not the first time I make this kind of thing! >.<) Hopefully it didn't come out as if I am licking staff's shoes or whatever, I'm just genuinely expressing what I feel, and what I believe a decent amount of the playerbase feels as well.

Kind of late for this but first of all I would like to thank @Hollow for reversing the decision and giving out the armor to the tied players. I understand you guys have your reasons to not give it out initially but I believe after seeing the players' reasonings, a change of mind was triggered. The staff has came through multiple times (including now) and this gesture shows the truth in what I said my previous post regarding the staff being nice and generous.

Although the main matter at hand has been resolved, I still do have a message for @Cray in regards to his reply for my previous post: It's a shame that you had assumed the worst from my post, even though you repeatedly used the phrase good faith/intentions, because I certainly have zero intentions of "sowing discord" or anything similar to that, like The Finnish Phoenix had stated. I understand that you are with the staffs' decision(which is now void)and can state your reasons but there is really no need to subtly throw in insults in your posts such as calling players "incompetent" or repeatedly say that I didn't read/ignored your points (when I did several times already) when it doesn't bode well with you and use phrases such as me setting up an "argumentative trap", giving a "petty exchange" and exhibiting "hostile behaviours", which is kind of disappointing because that's how you felt from your perspective of seeing my post when nobody else felt that way and more importantly, it's completely not what I wish to achieve with my post, but rather the complete opposite. Also using the word "martyr" because of my offer and "beatify" is kind of dramatic, a tad excessive and is unnecessary in my opinion.

I went through my previous post again to make sure I didn't say anything offensive or inappropriate(which I am pretty sure I didn't as well others discussing here), I would still like to apologize if in anyway, you felt offended or personally attacked by it because again, that is not my intention.

Once again, I would like to express my thanks to the staff again for making the change in decision and for always trying to make the game (and wars) a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone playing/involved. I would also like to thank the players here that expressed their thoughts and points regarding this matter which helped push forward this decision and it shows that this is an amazing community.

And Pun-isher

If you would like to reassure me that you did, in fact, read my posts, could you please point me to where I called players incompetent? A simple ctrl+f search will show that I never stooped so low as to say this. Perhaps, in spite of the similarity of your current accusations to different ones I have received privately, this is a simple misreading. The following is the closest you will find to what you reference:

quote:

bluchill: You are entirely within your rights to criticize us, but antagonizing us and demanding capitulation will get nowhere compared to presenting a point in a constructive manner. That you are casually ignoring my own insistence in not presenting the tied players as 'the bad people', while framing the discussion in those terms yourself, and that you insist on finding the least charitable interpretation for our actions that you can manage, tells me that you have not taken the time to read my original post. As you are neither engaging my points nor backing mine, I'll stick to addressing your perception of unpreparedness or incompetence on our end: During divisive situations, one can attempt to mediate and try to find a common ground, but keeping everybody happy in their beginning positions is by definition not plausible.
.

The now underlined part contains the only instance of the word 'incompetence' (With 'incompetent' not being present at all) within my posts in this discussion. As you can clearly see, this is not an accusation, but the statement that incompetence was very clearly assumed on our end.

At no point in my posts did I subtly throw in insults. I was clear and decisive in calling out misconduct in the specific instances where my request for a discussion in good faith was met with hostility, intentional or otherwise.

Edit: Now that I underlined that, I realize that I made an error in the prior sentence, having meant to say ' As you are neither engaging my points nor backing your own'. My apologies.

Can't say I agree with the overturned decision.

Hopefully this sends a clear message to the jerry-riggers that manipulating the top 50 spots with ties to exceed the intended prize payouts will NOT be tolerated in future wars.

^ its not a bug; the war is over so the storyline consists of you wearing the War armor. The very story, if you read even a little bit, will make you understand it isn't a bug. lol.

than wouldn't it still be a graphical bug for giving us the option to play as Alex? At least, they should remove the button
