While I didn't post too much on the matter and wasn't directly involved with the tie, I did look through the whole process through both this forum discussion and through the warmonger's discord... Not only since the beginning of the discussion, but since the beginning of the war, the reaction to the sudden increase in mob count, the suggestion of a tie, and the effort to get more and more people to join it which ended up leading to this troublesome situation... So uhn... While I wasn't directly involved, I certainly felt the mood of a considerably chunk of the playerbase very well throughout this entire ordeal. And I must say that while there was a fair amount of bad feelings towards it, the response most people had to how the issue was handled was mostly positive IMHO. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that expected radio silence to come once the complaints started raining and also expected to see nothing come of this at all. I can't say how happy I was to be proved wrong on both sides, the discussion with Cray was by no means perfect, but the fact we did have a back and forth with opinions being debated was really something that felt... Uhn... Productive maybe? I'm not sure what the right word to this is, but... The fact that we were not only being heard, but actively being replied to was honestly amazing. AQ's staff frequently interacts with us, which is something I'm very grateful for and that makes me much more engaged to this community than many others... However, as far as memory serves me (I could be wrong though! >.<), when issues arrive that puts the playerbase in an antagonistic position to staff, we were mostly faced with silence and no changes in instance or resolution... Seeing this situation being averted and having a conversation was already incredibly healthy IMHO, and having our wishes answered and the people in the tie properly rewarded was absolutely astounding and made me and many others very very happy with both the outcome, and the fact our words were actually listened to, that the time spent talking and articulating replies was actually taken into account and taken into consideration by staff. So uhn... The point of this post is mainly to say... While this issue was a pretty troublesome one and that had a lot of complicated feelings involved in it, I and many others of the playerbase were really happy in how the staff-player interaction was handled this time. And while I, of course, don't think player complaints will be addressed every single time we end up having a disagreement with staff members, seeing them actively being debated and taken into consideration, until an official final reply came to the matter, was definitely something that made me very happy. To close it up, this was a troublesome matter, but I'm pretty sure the playerbase is very happy with the resolution, and hopefully staff is too. It would be nice if we could end this in a high note... And let's pray this kind of tense disagreement doesn't happen again any time soon, nobody likes having those after all... >.> Wait, that's not how I should be closing it up, I didn't touch the crux of the matter yet, I digressed too much! >.< The point is, I think the issue was handled very well on staff's side and I really liked the overall discussion even if the topic was heavy. I think it's important we remember this is a vast improvement over how some issues were handled in the past (I'm pretty sure a lot of people can start badmouthing a certain staff member that is no longer in the team and how he handled players in the past if they want to, right? We definitely had nothing like that this time around), so just like the staff respected us and took our opinions into account, I think we should also try to take a step back, look at things from staff's point of view a bit, and make sure to respect them as both developers of the game we love, and also as people that are as entitled to their own opinion as we are to ours. Making sure the discussion is respectful by both sides should be a basic. And uhn... If I am to be perfectly honest, never in my mind would I have expected staff to not know the ties that happened previous to this one were not engineered, rather, I think every single person that was organizing in the tie believed that staff was aware all ties were being engineered and we thought staff condoned it... So... I guess I'd like to apologize for the whole thing? Again, I was not directly involved with the tie nor was I engineering it myself, but the feeling around was that we were not doing something bad, but that we were doing something great and incredible. We thought we were doing something the staff were okay with, and now we're well aware the staff is not, so... I'd like to apologize, it was certainly not the intent to try gimping the system or to disrespect the good faith that were shown, we really just wanted to get more people to experience an exclusive reward many people were very hyped about. We had good intentions while doing something we thought was okay, and now we know it's not, I think apologizing for it is the minimum we should do. Geez, this went on for far too long, I need to learn to make shorter posts when I try to express my thoughts on things... (I know this is the first super long post I make here, but I use other forums, okay!? This is not the first time I make this kind of thing! >.<) Hopefully it didn't come out as if I am licking staff's shoes or whatever, I'm just genuinely expressing what I feel, and what I believe a decent amount of the playerbase feels as well.
