Hello all; I haven't played DF seriously in years. I think I stopped after the Catiff saga, for the most part. It seems a lot of new content has come around since then. I have a few questions for those of you who are still extremely active in the game:

1. What classes are considered the best now? I originally only used Death Knight, then Necro Paragon. I have all the calendar classes up until Epoch, and I believe I have trained every class to full. Chaosweaver looks nice, but it costs more DC's than I currently have (I know DoomKnight is the best technically, but you can't use DoomKnight in every part of the game).

2. What storyline should I focus on? I've finished Book 1, 2, and a few stories from Book 3, though not as much from the current main story.

3. Is Epoch any good, or should I not bother buying the new calendars?

Disregarding DmK the best class in the game in my opinion is Eternal Epoch, simply unmatched. Other excellent classes are: Archivist, ShadowWalker of Time, Chaosweaver, Kathool Adept, Baltael SoulWeaver, Ascendant, DragonWarrior...

As for the story missions, take a look at the timeline for better guidance.

as said if you go into the book of lore--> the end of magic--> the timeline it will show you a nice chronological line of quests and sagas, i think it also keeps track of where you currently are

you can also check the Chronicle of releases that shows exactly what was relseased and when so you could find out where you left and what came afterwards

Thank you guys! The class question was more related to the Inn at the Edge of Time challenges, as DoomKnight isn't allowed for those fights.

inn challenges are very diverse and different from one another mechanic wise so the closest thing i can get to pointing a finger and saying THIS IS IT would be chaosweaver from personal expirience since it is able to take down almost all fights just by switching your skill rotation and maybe taking a guest or 2.

that being said i have noticed that both ranger and pirate are very popular choices for most strategies and builds
if you search a bit inside the battle strategy thread im sure you could find tips and builds for the challenges and a quick google search will show you plenty of vids of players who show how to beat them aswell

Welcome back to DragonFable!

While DoomKnight Variant One is banned from most Inn Challenges, the standard DoomKnight Armor is allowed and is your best bet for most of them (excluding those where Super Sentog Justice Go and Sepulchure are involved due to their own anti-DoomKnight buffs) through the sheer power of Corruption and the enhanced effects it applies to Lingering Doom, Malefic Binding, Life Carve, Shape Darkness and Drain Will, the aforementioned Corruption-enhanced Malefic Binding and Weaken which are very hard for most enemies to chop through due to low BTH/up to 5 missed turns/low damage, and Void Barrier which can bring down many of the toughest bosses through strategies built around it and decreased Health Resistance from both equipment and the Drain Essence skill. Blood Rite being an auto-crit with no cooldown makes it perfect for sundering Uthuluc's armor. Where DoomKnight Variant One is far more powerful in terms of raw power thanks to significantly higher damage scaling, a better Blood Rite, and a game-breaking Life Carve that makes short work of any boss, DoomKnight Armor is more focused around defence and utility. SoulWeaver equipped with Baltael's Aventail is also very good, with the rather unique trait of being able to purge nasty statuses like those afflicted by Gananana the Wicked Seer combined with inflicting a great amount of damage. Pirate, Ranger and Technomancer significantly lower enemy All Resistance, so are good bets for Sepulchure/the Failed Doom Challenge as well as Uthuluc and The Primordials.

I'd recommend the Book 3 stories in general as they tend to offer more up-to-date equipment and powerful equipment such as Shapeless Idol, Crystal Notched Belt, Thorn Replica, The Hidebehind and Slimy Necklace. That being said, there are some also nice rewards from re-imagined Book 1 quests such as the Wings of the Thousand Flames from Riverine Keep.

Welcome back and may you have a great return and conquer the Inn!
