In all likelihood, it's what most people refer to as "ghost spaces". The basic jist is that whenever you fully use up a merging resource in a merge shop, in this case you use your last 10 C Tokens to merge into a B Token, you will temporarily have 1 extra space used up, according to the game, which doesn't have item stored in it and because the game says "you have a full inventory", it cannot process the next merge transaction and gives off this error message. It's also typically what causes the bug where you try to accept an item, it doesn't go into your inventory and the "Yes" button stops working.
Relogging will remove these "ghost spaces" and let you carry on your day as normal, or bank an item for each extra space you need in the moment (only really necessary if you have some quest progression you want to keep).
