What would you say is the best Adventurer F2P build? By best I mean the one with the easiest time against any mob or boss if created today. I'm leaning towards offensive mage or beastmaster warrior but I don't know the damage output of the latter.

It's hard to say.
My opinion would probably be a beastmage. As a beastmage, you can use pets&guests to deal damage while you are using tomes yourself to either deal damage or to heal/use effects.
This is my F2P beastmage: https://aq.battleon.com/game/flash/charview?temp=87545477
It's not completely optimized, but you get the idea.

You might as well do just fine with a pure build (both warrior, ranger and mage) even though you won't use booster pets/guests. You can still do the Purple Rain combos, you'll just do lower damage.

Yeah, a beastwarrior is also good.

+1 on Beastmaster Mage. It's probably the build with the least amount of rares and premium items that would help it. Almost all tomes in the game are available, and while there are pets and guests that are premium and/or rare, they don't provide nearly as big of a boost as their booster counterparts. Neko Subrace is also available for all elements without a Z-token version, so armors are easy to get.

Another thing worth mentioning is that since the criteria is created today, this character won't have access to Essence Orb. Mages have a much smaller need for SP regeneration, so they'd be faster against mobs by default.

In that case is the Beastmage defensive or offensive? I guess to go the fully offensive route you would need the booster pets to be effective or the damage is low.
Edit: here's the f2p char I'm trying to build https://aq.battleon.com/game/flash/charview?temp=24883640

Neko subrace is Defensive Lean, but at higher subrace levels toggles can apply a damage dealing offensive status condition but exchange for a more offensive armor lean.

See my explanation of Equipment differences for Offensive or Defensive from another player's rating.

The typical beastmage would be FD.
There is a guide for beastmages on the wiki. Direct link: https://adventurequestwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Player_Builds#Inventory
Go to "Mage builds" --> "Fully-Defensive Beastmaster"
