@ Gipsy Danger,

If i was you I would just leave yourself autofarming for the rabbit drops until you get them. Then when you acend at least they can then be perm'd to give you the boosts. for other information after getting drops, ascending and perming them the drops did seem to come more frequent than the first time...At least thats what it felt like.

Perming the items is supposed to increase the drop rate by 10%, and perming an enemy increases the damage it takes by 10%, as well as an overall 1% increase in either gold dropped or damage done for each item permed or creature permed, respectively.

All that said, this isn't really an idle game, or it doesn't feel like one. The game doesn't run if you don't have it open, for example. Also, the balance is really off as far as difficulty goes. Also, the game data is stored locally, so if you go to a different computer, you have to start over.

I wish they'd tie it to our account, let the game earn money while closed, re-balance some of the mechanics, and just behave like other idle games. It could be pretty good, but it needs polish.

Do you mean reset as in start from scratch, or reset as in start back at the beginning with some crystals? Not sure on the former, but the data isn't saved to any server, so finding and removing the local data should do it. For the latter, just get 100,000 gold and the ascend button should show up, click it and you will ascend.

Are there going to be any updates on IdleQuest, or was it just released and then abandoned?

Edit: Okay, definitely leaning toward abandoned, there still isn't anything beyond stage 46.

Does anyone still play idle quest? Picked it up somewhat recently ago. Anyone have any advice on how to get past Hero University? Ive made it all the way to the Corrupt Castle Outhouse so far, ive ascended a number of times, but i just cant get past this area. Also the loot drop rate is kind of ridiculous. Am i literally going to have to farm enough gold to be able to make my mobs kill billion health mobs? Any advice is appreciated

Just farm for every drop you can get. You likely won't need to spend gold on upgrading anymore since the drops add up in terms of damage pretty quickly, and it'll be better spent on unlocking areas. It takes a while because you have to click the enemies to death, but a few rare drops will quickly add up to you being able to idle everything.

My idle quest game just reset itself. I don`t mean ascend. It just started again for no reason, from the beginning, like I never even started playing yet.

A couple of questions:

1) What are the drops in Level 2: The Forest? The level icon shows 3 items (Woodcutter Axe, ?, and ?) but I have yet to see any bosses besides Stumpy that drops items.

2) For the mobs, when you unlock them it says like "0.1%" of an item for like Artix, Robina, etc. Do the characters themselves drop items or are they actually bosses later on in the game?

Thanks!

@Battlesiege15,

In lvl 2 the other drops are from Purple Rabbit which does not appear that often. Best thing here I have found is to move past this a few levels and then go back to this level and leave it autoplaying.

As to your second question yes that is the droprate for the mob to drop its item and they are dropped by the characters themselves. Bosses have their own drops.

The drops from all mobs occur more regular as you ascend.

There is a pretty good excel sheet I have found listing nearly all areas/items etc but I dont think I am allowed to post the link here so maybe just look it up yourself.

Decided to check this game out out of boredom and...boy did they mess this one up. Spent the last few days pushing and grinding for gear since ascending has no real, meaningful benefit to do short of having a TON of things to perm. If you don't have a boatload of crystals to dump, and a bunch of new gear to dump them on, ascending just means giving up all your stuff that you'll have to re-grind just so you can get a fraction of a percent more gold or damage. Knowing this, I opted to avoid ascending until I hit a hard wall at about level 30. The gold requirements for progression were getting super high and at that point I had like 30 non-permed gear and around 75 crystals. Okay, so now would be a good time to ascend, buy the items, semi-quickly get them back in the new run, and benefit from most/all of what I had last run except with the added bonus of 75 crystals worth of buffs. Might make things a bit easier.

....I accidentally hit "done" before spending any crystals. All the gear is gone. Reset back to its original pathetic drop rates. I was actually physically hot with anger. All that time...for nothing. This wouldn't be a problem if the game treated drops as "If it has dropped before, you can buy it permanently", but no. It only counts items you got LAST run. The only thing keeping me grinding those days was the future payoff of "Ooooh man, I'm gonna buy so many gear pieces and buff my gold find a ton all at once!" Now? I just feel defeated and want to give up on the game. The drop rates are WAY too low on enemies that ae WAY to rare on a game that's difficulty rises WAY too fast. Where am I right now? Idling farming ghosts trying to get a weapon with a 0.1% drop rate for its 150% click buff because that's the only way I'll be able to beat the next boss since the only other item available right now that I don't have only buffs gold find.

This. Is. Awful.

I started playing this just for fun a little while back.... honestly had been enjoying it.....

And then level 35.

Level 35 is AGONY.

I have every item up to this point in the game, I have high level characters.... and it is a brick wall that is one of the WORST things I've ever seen. The enemies have 9 billion HP, and come in huge swarms, the boss before this has NO drops, which makes the gulf between you and these enemies absolutely huge, and you CANNOT autofarm for the 0.1% drops.

It's utterly horrible, whoever made this bit messed it up terribly, like, beyond belief level bad. There is no way to proceed unless you can get one of these miniscule chance drops MANUALLY, which is practically begging for carpal tunnel if you want to engage in that errand.

Something NEEDS to be changed here. Either a drop added to the Cowataur boss that gives you a big damage boost, a SIGNIFICANT nerf to the health of the University enemies, or a big boost to their drop rates.

Otherwise, this is just terrible design.

Heya!
Was searching for a solution and only this thread comes up so I'll post my questions here:
1. How to equip gears?
2. Do we have to manually open check/pick up items?

Thanks!

You do not equip drops. They are collected and can be seen in the gear section on the RH side of the screen. You can change the team members for any monster you have beaten during accension. The monsters drop boxes with items that you click on to collect.

So is Idle Quest still in its planning stages? I played it about a year ago and I've only noticed a couple major changes with it. The permanent unlock feature wasn't there initially, right? Actually, what even was the ascension bonus initially? Anyways, the game still feels a little off in terms of balancing and progression.

I'm also not sure if it's been monetized yet since I haven't been shown anything I can buy (AE games usually introduce buyable stuff early). I get the impression that the game is there as a placeholder while still being made publicly available for feedback purposes.

While I'm here, I'd like to request a feature that shows how much gold I spend per damage point increase with character levels. That'd save me a lot of work being hyper efficient with each purchase I make. I do have a system that minimizes the effort a bit, but it's still a lot of work.

@ Lazzil,

Firstly I don’t think there will be any updates to Idle Quest after all this time although I could be wrong. Regarding the unlock feature I started playing about 8 months after the initial release and it was active then at least. The game does struggle with its progression but again I don't feel that after all this time of no updates that anything will change there.

for tracking any gold/unlock I just do screenshots at ascension. This shows gold until next crystal, How much you have gained since the start, Other stats that show current stats and your overall damage and current permanent boosts that increase in .1 increments on each ascension. I currently have all mobs unlocked with the next crystal (14) in 1.481Qi. Current bonus is 21.7% damage and current permanent boosts at 120.7% damage and 105% gold drops (gold drops have not changed in ages)

This is where I stopped playing several months ago.

That's too bad. Despite everything I complained about, I do enjoy this game. The art is every bit as charming as other AE games (I'm especially fond of Vidra's design), and the loot system is unique. It's a nice little game that I just set up in the background and come back to it every so often.

I see, so unlocks have been around since then. Oops! ;^^

Screenshots at ascension would show where you're at at the end, but my obsession with efficiency will drive me beyond that. I write down my entire progression on a note program like this. https://i.imgur.com/LqbQfG1.png
Whenever I get to newer levels, I update the score to show which character has the lowest gold per damage at any given level, raise the level of said character, and then update their score in my notes. It's tedious, but it scratches that itch!

@ lazzil,

When I was doing it i basically got 4 mobs on my side and left them at level 1 during the first areas up to death knight, and then started to move my one of them up, but never taking it past lvl 20. this way I could get some of the areas like hero university advanced to do the mass spawn thing so never went in to the details you did.
