As most of you already know, we recently had a certain meta-defining shield that was nerfed substantially. As a result of this nerf, weapon-based skills and attacks now have a substantially lower damage cap. Many of you are probably wondering how your should adapt your build to this change. I have created a comparison of the top nukes that most of you are probably looking at. Here it is:

BZ/BM/Old STD Armour Comparison

The purpose of this document is to help those of you wondering how you should adjust your build. This comparison is similar to the Skill Power Ranking page that many of you have undoubtedly already seen. However, this comparison takes a more detailed look at several specific armours/setups, namely:

  • Wizard (elemental specific)/Generalist Robes
  • Bloodzerker Armours
  • Bloodmage Armours
  • Top Old-Standard Armours (WKZ, Taladosian, HSVV, Moglord)

There are 2 tabs in the google sheet - they are nearly identical, but the Summary page has all the extraneous information hidden. However, I recommend that you look at the Calculation page as well, as it gives you a better idea of how I got the number or if you want to double check my work.

    A few things to note:
  • Kindred and Terror Eater were purposely omitted, as they are clearly designed to deal significantly more damage than everything else.
  • All Wizard/Generalist Robe calculations are done with the assumption that you are using them with burst spells (i.e. Warmaster's Burst, Destruction Burst, Arctic Tornado, Creation Burst and Cysero's Explosive Teleport Booth). It is my belief that almost no other damaging spell is worth using with these armours when you are comparing them against the other armours on this list.
  • The main reason that so many different setups are compared is that many of the items here are rare (e.g. Cutlass, Adventure Figure, Moglord, etc...) and premium (e.g. Arctic Tornado), so many of you will not have access to some or even all of these.
  • I know there are better spell boosters than Blood Contract, such as Warlic's Oblivion Sphere. However, after some calcs, WOS only improves raw damage by about 1% (assuming 250 INT/250 LUCK) when not using Hypercritical effects (though it does also provide a decent accuracy boost on top of that). To keep things simple, I decided to just stick with Blood Contract.

Finally, don't get too hung up on the numbers, As you might have noticed, a lot of these setups have comparable damage output. Consider factors such and practicality and fun (I know, crazy right?). For example, before you rush to drop $100+ on the burst spells to switch to the elemental wizard robes, consider how it would be like to have 7 cloned armors that more or less makes you lose the ability to auto attack.

Awesome work on the chart. So much to go through.
    1. Also, wheeeewww, 0 INT destruction burst build OP, lol.
    2. Warriors lack top tier nukes on dark, wind (unless you want to shell out for lord of the skies), and energy. Thankfully GGB UR-boxes for zerker armors and WKZ aren't so bad to come by so long as you have a house for the other elements.

Sorry, I should've been a bit more clear. The INT/CHA are only there for the purpose of calculating poelala boosts. They don't affect any other number.

Warriors do have access to Doom Knight, Angel of Souls and Terror Eater (good with Werewolf), but you are right - the former two don't have great damage and the ladder requires some setup/can be a bit situational.

Personally, I'm against the use of nukes in AdventureQuest. After seeing the devastating consequences of a ley line rupturing and the cataclysm that ruined the western kingdoms, they're just not needed- even if the Drakel somehow used their magiscience to create a nuke there are so many world-endangering weapons already in use. And who could be trusted with the codes? Artix? Tralin? The Chosen? Playing Lorithia is dangerous territory, and I'm not sure anyone on Lore is equipped to survive a nuke or to deal with the consequences of using one.

This needs to be updated to reflect the nerf to morningstar cross.

As the one who bear the mantle of War,I solemnly disagree with your statement sir Uskius~Nuke is a show of an absolute power and as War,we are the absolute power in the battlefield~We are the chosen one,not the average human being who can only watch in despair as their family were getting rip apart! So that's why we were granted the power to nuke the heck out of our enemy! We are WAR~Anyway,I can't wait for the day when we will once again use such power against perhaps a godlike monster or even gods~Have a nice day y'all

For some reason, this thread got bumped 4 months after I released it, so I would like to say that this is now a bit out of date. There should be several other nukes that are competitive that aren't there since I'm too lazy to update it (e.g. Overwhelming Light in Paladin, dynamancer stuff).

More importantly, Morningstar + Bloodzerker entries have not been updated to reflect the recent nerf they received. For those that want a more accurate value for Morningstar + Bloodzerker entries, just take w/e number you see on the list and do *3/4. Never mind, I fixed it. That being said, Blade of the Briar + Bloodzerker should probably now be on there as it's stronger than morningstar now.

Out of curiosity, Where does guardian cultivated monocle fall? It's a 110% boost, though I don't know for sure if it's multiplicative or additive , it seems as though the former. Does this put it at the same damage increase as blood contract?

So one pays for the boost via HP (damage increase), the other SP? And blood contract increases monster damage....making being in wizard robes riskier than the monocle.

    Or am I off?

And Warlic's oblivion sphere just boosts int/luck, but this is enough to challenge these other two for damage? (non hypercrit)?

I'd like to know what happened to Blade of Awe?

It used to actually be awesome.
Now it is so weak it is almost not worth having it....

    Can somebody please explain?
