I would like to use Deathknight more often, and I know that DK items increase its power. However, I want to buy Zeclem gear, I dont want to farm DK items anymore. I remember that in the past they were the same items and both boost DK. Does it still work that way?

Yes all original DK items from DeathKnight quest, Upgraded, Shadowed, Zeclem and Unhallowed DeathKnight items from Sir Malifact and Relic DK items from Zeclem's Keep are classified as DK items and increase it's power.

And DeathKnight received a huge update this march so it has now much more mechanics and the DK items affect it much more. Sir Malifact in Book 1 Necropolis will tell you how it currently works.
