This minion armor set sounds super interesting, I'm fascinated to see what direction it will end up going in. Seems extremely unique compared to anything we've seen in other classes

Alright folks, it is testing time! Visit Today's Event page to find Kaley's testing grounds and pick up the new Necromancer Class Testy Armor!


From Imry:
- Minion colours are stored client-side, like custom weapon names
- The armour has its filename stored differently than most armours. Please try your best to break it. Go out and find weird ways to equip the armour and see if it works.

I'm getting hit with an infinite "Loading!" every time I try to switch the test armor. I tried loading it on different characters and cycling through different faces.

The minion paint screen seems to be working just fine.

Armor isn't loading but misc does. Tried on both guardian and adventurer servers, same issue.

If you happen to move the necro test armor to your typical starting armor slots like the ones you set from guardian tower the game won't even let your character load. If not for the account manager allowing for inventory sorting this would lock you out of playing.

Armor's working now, thanks!

The minion paint is also looking really good. I'm enjoying testing out the various colors

Edit: Quick question. Is the red bandana around the test armor's neck meant to change to the custom color of your cloak? Currently it is set to the default red color of the guardian armor.

I hugely appreciate being able to color customize your minion to match the colors of whatever shield/weapon you're using. (I'm using Cerberus Ward for my darkness/fire shield slot I figured I'd make my skeleton red)

When using the the Necro Test misc and then remove it, the jaw change color.

Also I would find it much nicer if we could have the minion on the other side of the player, lots of nice details in the armor is not visible because of it.

I agree with Yozai: I might change my mind but I like looking at this gorgeous new Necromancer art.

Edit: My minion's jaw is also reverting to default colours after unequipping the misc.

Bonus: I manually set my Skelly's bone colour to straight 000000 with hex values, re-entered the paint menu, it had reset to default. Doesn't happen with any other colour, (I guess it doesn't see anything to save?)

The minion customisation is shared across all account characters. I suppose because it's client-side, but I couldn't say how the custom weapon names worked.

I'm starting to think this could have waited until we got skills to try. As neat as it is to click 2 things and change colors on a skeletal minion, to call this a test of anything isn't right. We got another 2 hit armor and that's it and the misc so far only changes appearance which does make the minion look cool and all but it should be more than a cosmetic change. If it isn't one, certainly not worth a misc item slot and we may as well have clickable toggles on the minion itself to add armor to it.

Armor art isn't bad though I wish it wasn't just taken from AQW and even if it were to be from that, I'd have expected a necromancer armor similar to the one found even on DF. Floating being the main part. Good look even as is so not complaining here. But I do want to support the request of swapping the positions of the minion and the player so we can better see the armor.

Sounds like they wanted to add the first set of skills but this new mechanic was so complicated as to take up their time- if we waited, we might not have gotten anything this week.

I'm hoping minion armour gets expanded too. If Paladins can adjust for undead, maybe we should be able to dress our minion up in light-resistant armour/misc...

So excited for this! Been playing since 2008, and I've always wondered what an updated Necromancer class would look like.

Also, always been in the Necromancer class. Never picked anything else (unless a quest required it lol)

I kind of wonder, having now finally had an opportunity to play again, I'm kind of hoping they find a way to preserve Lich Form somehow, as this revamp seems to revolve more around the minion than the other skill options.

What started as an announcement that we'd get to test the first 5 skills of the armor set devolved into "make bone boi look perty!"
Quite the ball drop not gonna lie. Got hyped up for nothing...

IIRC Paladin had at least 4 releases for it so I don't mind this one being small. It's gonna take a while before we see the entire thing in action, I'm just glad its coming out.

I wonder... is there any way within the game engine for it to strengthen certain abilities, even just a little, if you're a vampire playing as a necromancer? They kinda go hand in hand in a lot of fantasy settings, being a neck-romancer who is a necromancer.

(Yes, I did mostly come up with this idea just to make that horrific pun)

I think that classes and subraces are meant to be kept mechanically seperate for now in order to prevent them from becoming too complicated.

That said, I could see Shadowhunters and Nightslayers having some bonus relating to your subrace, given those two classes' connections to Darkovia in general. Since those are only tier-two classes instead of tier-three it'd also be more managable to add subrace-specific abilities to them, if they ever get revamped

Yeah, I kinda figured on that part, since both your class and your subrace don't have much effect until you put on the armor for that class/subrace. If you could access both simultaneously, it could lead to some very unbalanced situations.

I still just think Neck-romancer/Necromancer is a good play on words. So is 'revamped' when talking about the vampire subclass.
