@SapphireCatalyst Dex's utility for most builds can be substituted by other items, but those items do come at a cost of inventory slots. When utility items are already so plentiful, this opportunity cost does become quite significant. There are two main ways to increase bth: use QC effects that increase bth and/or dex or use status effects to reduce foe's MRM or dex. The former takes time, so it's not ideal for farming or general questing in which one would prefer to finish battles as quickly as possible. QC items that boost bth are mostly rare and P2W, so they're not exactly readily available either. The latter takes even more time, and because status effects usually depend on hitting a monster first, it actually benefits from having dex already. It is true that dex is not strictly necessary, but its role requires quite a lot to be replaced. That is why most players consider it essential. Considering just how many builds use it, dex is a black hole that destroys build diversity. Note that this is coming from someone whose main character does not have dex. Are we going to continue the trend of Mason Form variants coming only on Thursday the 12th of the same month as their original release? If so, this will be coming back in 2027. That's a brutal wait for those who will miss this release.
