Build: Pure Mage (?)
Level: 135 Adventurer
Stats: 250 INT/LUK +175 DEX (should I make this 225/225/225 or 250 INT/DEX and 175 LUK?)
Any Additional Notes**: Character ID is 87917526

Thank you!

Dex no longer affects the accuracy of your magic attacks and spells, so it's not really needed for a pure mage. Something like Int/Luck + Cha, or Int/Cha + Luck would be a better fit.

Also, are you planning on an FO or FD build? For an adventurer, I'd normally suggest FD, as the best FO mages require a certain degree of GGB investments - and that would make a beastmage more efficient than just pure mage.

FD would be great. I was going to go spellcaster actually!

I only have DEX to use Airenal's Lance but hopefully it'll be usable without DEX after this week's release

Nice!

I see two ways this could go:

- Full-on FD Beastmage, with Int/Cha and the rest in Dex for pet/guest accuracy, or

- Part-time beastmage, Int/Luck and rest in Cha, using boosters and resourse-regaining beasts to complement your spellcasting.

Which one would you prefer?

The INT/LUK with DEX sounds good! I actually do have a beastmage account already so wanted something different. If DEX really isn't too necessary, I was thinking maybe a END mage?

That sounds like an interesting build!

Let's see if I can help...

Weapons

Tomes remain a staple of any FD mage, so Healing Branch (water), Winds of Time (wind), Lightning Rod (energy) and Loremaster's Tome (light/earth/harm) should take care of five elements plus Harm and Heal.

Arctic Athame boosts the damage of your ice spells by 18.75% with the bonus doubled against monster with Int.

Blackbones boosts the dark damage of your D-Burst by 10%. If you have a spare UR, Arcane Cutlass of Abyss works even better.

Zardwarts Wand can inflict Choke or Control for a small mp cost.

Armors

The four Neko armors should cover every element you may need.

Necromancer has status potence, togglable spell boost, hp and mp recovery and several powerful damaging and effect skills even if you're an Adventurer.

Brilhado Necromancer Robes have a modern spellcaster lean, which gives them good synergy with Your Soul spell.

If you have the tokens, Cherub can inflict a powerful Control with basic attacks and has a skill to scramble monster resists (paired with wind elevuln and offensive lean).

Shields

Dreamweaver's Contempt from your other character could work nicely.

Celtic Wheel gives Int drive.

War-Torn Heirloom compresses wind/dark.

Frostgale's Grace gives +10 Stun Resist.

Serenia's Blessing from your Vault restores a bit of mp whenever you're hit, IIRC.

Taladosian shield has a small chance to reduce damage taken by 50%.

Mana Crystal Defender forms a Barrier whenever you cast a spell.

Spells

Destruction Burst covers both fire and dark damage.

There's not much in the way of ice spells, so something like Frigid Fury should do the job.

Keep Sizzler 'Splosion, as it's pretty great against high MRM-mobs.

Your Soul Burns Bright as a Beacon deserves a special mention, as it uses End for stats and costs hp - not mp or sp. For an End build the cost is negligible, so it's the easiest spell to spam.

Purple Rain has been nerfed somewhat, but it's still an excellent tool for stacking statuses like Love Potion's Control and SFP's Celerity.

If you have a spare UR, Siphon is pretty great as it can restore your hp or mp and scales with the damage you deal (so heals more when you stack spell boosts like Spellcaster lean or Berserk or PCO's damage lean).

Lepre-Chan and Poelala to use as boosting guests.

Pets

Lepre-Chan and Poelala for damage boosts.

Underwyrmling comes in very handy against certain bosses.

Spotter Drake gives status potence.

Pick up any Godmother while Mother's Day LTS is here to recover mp.

Miscs

Essence Orb, of course.

Rejuvenating Necklace restores mp based on damage dealt.

Love Potion stacks qc Control. With EO and Purple Rain, you can keep the monster stunned for the entire battle.

SFP is nearly as broken, since it allows you to stack Celerity. You still get only two actions per round, but with EO and PR you can stack the effect until you get two actions per round for the entire battle.

Cracked Ornament (on your main) gives +10 Status Potence.

Goggernaut Helm gives +10 bth to every attack on the field, and the bonus is not /2 for spells.

Grakma Warhorn toggles to give you Berserk - a damage boost at the expense of accuracy. It's the strongest misc boost available when it comes to spells, and the effect pairs nicely with Sizzler 'Splosion's autohit.

If you have a UR, Prime Chaos Orb is the best way to spend it. The misc comes with a qc skill that scrambles monster resistances (as well as multiply all damage it takes and deals by *1.1), and that means you can always scramble the monster to be weak to your strongest nuke.

Hope the info's useful, and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

I hadn't realized DEX no longer adds hit chance to all attacks, and only luck does now.
My main is a mage that I had levelled as mostly damage oriented before the DEX change.
Long after reaching 150 I've had fun switching the stats.
My main is now a 250 INT 200 DEX/END 100 LUK "battle mage" :) I tried 125 DEX/LUK 250 INT/END but it felt too clumsy. I might try 250 INT/END/LUK, or 125 DEX/END & 250 INT/LUK.

I think levelling as a damage oriented mage would be efficient, with 250 INT and CHA/LUK split evenly perhaps.
Just for fun I'm levelling a Necromancer thats like an underling of my main, lvl 80 with 50 DEX/END/LUK and 125 INT/CHA.
I think once 150 it will look something like 200 INT/CHA & 100 DEX/END/LUK, since I don't want it as strong as a pure mage or beastmaster.

Just some fun tips :)

GL HF!
